The DUT GEA is a 2-year program. Core courses 1620 hours over 2 years + Tutored Project There is the possibility of doing one year (the second year of the normal program), for students with two years of post-secondary education. This option is available in Human Resources or Finance and Accounting. New Pedagogical Option: At the end of the first year of the program (at full time), it’s possible to follow a second year in alternation with a professional contract or a teaching contract. DESCRIPTION The University Technology diploma in management and administration (DUT GEA) is preparation for several careers in business management and administration. Professional Training DESCRIPTION The goal of the Technical Measurement department is to train highly qualified technicians with a vast array of skills based in the physical sciences. The program is 4 semesters. It’s comprised of set courses, guided projects and an internship at the end of the studies. Every semester, courses are divided into academic units (UE) and assessment modules (M: Modules capitalisables) for which grades are assigned as means of evaluation of the results obtained by each student. Organized education is delivered in the form of courses, directed work for theoretical learning complimenting practical learning which makes up about 40% of the hours. Class participation, directed work and practical work are mandatory. Each semester students must complete a guided project with a human or technical dimension to complement traditional training with a different approach to Technical Measurements and its subsequent careers. It permits a salaried worker newly hire with a temporary or permanent contract to do a program in alternation, recognized by a professional qualification. All IUT diplomas (University Technology diploma and Vocational Bachelor) can be done as a professional contract. QUALIFIED CANDIDATES Youths between ages of 16 and 25 years old (until but not including the 25th birthday) wishing to complete their first degree, job seekers older than 26 and who are enrolled at the A.N.P.E (National Employment Agency), recipients of ASS (Allocation de Solidarité Spécifique), AAH (Allocation aux Adultes Handicapés), of RSA (Revenu de Solidarité Active), CUI (Contrat Unique d’Insertion). QUALIFICATIONS TARGETED A professionally oriented degree delivered by the State or other authorities or organizations, and registered in the National Directory of Professional Certifications (RNCP). Certificate of National Qualifications (CQP). Qualification recognized by the classification of a collective national agreement of a certain economic sector. Qualification enrolled on an established list by the CPNE (National Employment Commission) or the CPNAA (National Commission on Legal Agreement Implementation). DURATION Duration of a temporary contract or during the professional activity for a CDI: 6 to 12 months. The apprenticeship contract is a particular type of work contract with a determined duration (CDD). Following article L6211-2 of the work code, “apprenticeship is the object of a contract agreed upon by an apprentice and an employer. It is associated to training in one or more companies, based on the exercise of one or more professional activities in direct relation with the objective qualification of the contract and … the teachings distributed during the time of work in a training center for apprentices.” He is supervised and supported in a company by a master teacher whose mission is to contribute to the acquisition of the essential skills need for the receipt of the Technical Degree or the Professional Degree in the specific area in connection with IUT Valenciennes. The contract is initially agreed upon for the duration of the program (2 years for a University Technology diploma and 1 year for a Vocational Bachelor). It starts with a two-month trial period. If the apprentice does not graduate, the contract can be prolonged for 1 year. International opportunities INTERNATIONAL DIPLOMAS Courses for the Vocational Bachelor in International Trade are given at the same time in French and English so as to allow foreign students to integrate into the program. At the moment of the globalization of exchanges, international paths proposed by IUT are an asset for future graduate job placement: 2 university diplomas and one Vocational Bachelor are offered by IUT Valenciennes.
