After today’s matches,
the ranking will be as
follows: Japan and
Czech Rep. will fight for
the fifth position
could not turn the tables and the match
ended 37-12 in favour of the Czech. In
the Championship, India has, until now,
only earn 52 points.
The Uruguayan player ‘Anita’ Benia
mentioned that ‘The match against
Japan was very heavy. The played very
fast and very good but we are living the
experience in the WUC Handball 2016
happily. We are not professionals, we are
students and workers there in Uruguay
so for us is very important being here.
Our objective right now is winning India,
a team from a different continent than
Uruguay’. Japan started with an aggressive stance that did succeed in the first
10 minutes of the match. The Uruguayan team seemed to have an organized
defence and their goalkeeper blocked all
shots, but the ended of the match culminated in 34-18, in favour of Japan.
The match between Spain and Poland
was difficult because the Poland team
played behind and they had to do rotations in order to advance and penetrate
the Spanish defence. For the Spanish
coach, the Spanish defence is the
strength of the feminine team. The final
scoreboard was 19 to 21 to Spain. With
this match, played in TCA at 12:15h,
is the third time it Spain and Poland to
face in university competitions, with two
victories for Poland and a final victory
for Spain. This match was notable for the
great public attendance.
The last match, in Fernando Argüelles,
between Romania and Russia ended
with the Romanian victory, with the
scored 21-18. The Russia aim was to
be in the first positions but as it could
not happen, they will fight for the 3rd
position.
After today’s matches, the ranking will
be as follows: Japan and Czech Rep. will
fight for the fifth position, while, on the
other hand, Uruguay and India will compete for the right to be called 7th in the
world. In the top of the ranking, Japan
and Russia will compete for the third
position. The Spanish team will play for
the first position against the Romanian
team.
The women final phase will take place
tomorrow at 9:30 in the TCA, for 7th
and 8th position and 11:45 in the Fernando Argüelles, and final for 1st and
2nd position will take place tomorrow
too at 14:00 in the Fernando Argüelles.

The first game in the morning was set at
10:00 in the TCA and it featured Czech
Rep. and India. The game started with
a slow pace, but soon the Czech girls
imposed their rhythm and scored on
minute first minutes. The first half ended with a score of 21-5 in favour of the
Czech. Sadly for India, their valiant effort

Russia and Egypt led
the fighting for the 5th position
The match between Spain and Romania is going to broadcasted by Eurosport at 16:00h
but Egyptians had a more strong defence.
The final result of the first half was 13-15
for the Chinese Taipei team. The second half
showed an intensive play from China Taipei.

The first matches of male semi-finals were
played yesterday in the Fernando Argüelles.
At 16:30h, the first match begun Russia
against Portugal. At first, the Russian players dominated the court, and went to the
half time winning 14-11. However, on the
second half, Portugal went on the offensive
and achived a good result, but no a victory.
The game finished 34-24 in favour of Russia.
This score placed Russia in the fight for the
5th position on the ranking. On the other
hand, Portugal was positioned at the bottom
of the ranking.
The next match was at 18:45h. The teams
of Egypt and China Taipei were faced in the
Argüelles for the fight in an intensive match.

That sentenced the match, which ended in an
Egyptian victory 33-27.
Tomorrow, the Fernando Arguelles Hall
is going to host the match between Romania and Spain at 16:00, and Japan against
Republic of Korea, at 18:15. Both matches
will be decidingthe final teams of the WUC
Handball 2016 are. The Spanish male semifinal is going to broadcasted by Eurosport
and by 101 Málaga Tv (local broadcast). It is
possible to follow the match by Twitter, using

Ms. Concepción Ruiz
Coordinator of the Medical Area
Ms. Concepción is the person in charge of
the Medical Area. Her job doesn’t consist just
on working during the Championship, she start
her work before the WUC Handball 2016 and she
is still working once the Championship is done. During the
competition , she and her team coordinate the medical staff from the
different countries, the ambulances and nurses, to confirm that in all
the sport centers there is medical material, like defibrillator and support from different injuries.

An important part of her job is the coordination of the anti-doping
tests during all the Championship. This year, the evidences are collected by the FISU agency.
The anti-doping can be make during all the Championship. In order
to make it, it’s necessary to select a player and this is a ramdon choice,
and any player can be selected. The evidences going to an European
laboratory, and the results will be ready after the Championship. If the
evidence is advice the player isn’t allowed to play in two years. The
most important advice from the Medical Area is ‘Say no to doping’.
