We are able to get up to 30 devices so if you would still like to be part of this initiative, come in and see us. We have parent packs available which contain all the information you will need. July Tuesday 5th Interschool cross country Yr4-6 Soccer tournament 10am at Te Horo School Thursday 7th School Disco 6.00-7.30pm Friday 8th Last day of term Personal Best Always (PBA) – 25 CLUB This week we welcome the following students into the 25 Club…Lily, Elliot, Robert, Ivason, William, Cadence, Corey Arynah, and Zoe L (who also received the Principals Award for her enthusiasm and writing talents). Cross Country - Otaki Rural Sports Group Year 4-Reece, Levi, Olivia, Harriet, Hannah Year 5-JT, Fintan, Kody, Shyne, Paige, Kyana, Oceiana Year 6-Sam, Henry, William, Alana, Devany, Savanah Year 7/8-Robert, Cruize, James, Toby, Cadence, Hala, Anika, Brooke - Regional Competition Many thanks to Charm for supporting the team at the Kapiti Interschool Competition. 8 runners represented Manakau School this year. Savanah, Fintan, Olivia, Robert, Hala, Kody, and JT. - Inter-regional Competition Next week Hala, JT and Cadence will represent us at the inter-regional event. We wish them all the best. PCT Challenge Thanks to John Ryersson and Jenny Wylie who supported the team of athletes competing in the Police fitness course challenge. Personal Best on show from Robert, Hala, Ivason, Cadence, Brooke, Anika. 23 teams competed this year, the largest number so far. Raise your words not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers not thunder. Keeping you in the loop… PTFA-Disco The wonderful Manakau school DISCO is almost upon us. Get your glad rags sorted for an evening of dancing next Thursday 7th July from 6-7.30pm. The dress up theme is the letter "P". We will have glow things galore for sale along with lollies, popcorn and Raro so please bring some cash. Water is always available. The disco is strictly for current Manakau School pupils and their younger siblings. The disco entry is by way of a tin of food which the PTFA will then pass onto the Otaki food bank. Please bring a plate for a shared supper. There are a few tasks that need to be finalised before the disco. If you are able to help with any of the following please contact Annette in the office or Carrie Yaxley ([email protected] or 021775432) Decorating the hall with the seniors - normally done Thursday afternoon around 2pm (exact time TBC) Manning the 'stall' of flashing stuff and sweets on the night. Clearing up once the dancing has stopped. Bouncers! We could do with 2 strapping lads to man the front door so we don't get escapees..... Cleaning Products Fundraiser - All orders must be into the office by tomorrow morning, (Friday) for processing. Firewood Raffle Tickets - All stubbs and money and unsold tickets, MUST be back to the office tomorrow, Friday 1st July, so they can be marked off the list. Thank you. School Banking with Westpac. This takes place every Friday. If you would like to do your child’s banking through the school, please could you have it to us by Thursday each week. We do have Westpac Junior Account forms available at the school office. Please see Annette. Room 4 Camp There are only approximately 20 weeks until Room 4 go on their Wellington Camp. As mentioned in the last newsletter automatic payments can be set up now to slowly tick away at the cost (we estimate approximately $150/child). Please see Annette if you would like to choose this option. Last day of term is Friday 8th July We will finish at our normal time of 2.55pm Buses will run as usual. Term 3 begins on Monday 25th July. COMMUNITY NOTICES Holiday Programme at Te Takere - ‘How to Measure A Mammoth” “How to Measure A Mammoth” is a family orientated ‘Maths is Fun’ Programme for children from five to thirteen, at no cost to the family. The programme presents fun, interactive maths activities and games designed to increase children’s understanding and confidence in the way they think about mathematical concepts and apply this knowledge to everyday situations. ‘How to Measure a Mammoth’ will be delivered at both Te Takere and Foxton Library during the first week of the school holidays by experienced teachers. Shannon children are welcome to attend at each of these libraries.. Each child registering for the programme will spend the equivalent of one day, broken into appropriate sessions and they will receive a take-home pack of fun, relevant equipment and games to use with family at home. There will be a Finale at the end of the programme, with a family maths challenge and to celebrate the efforts of the participants with their families.
