Any forward-looking statements included in this presentation are based on information available to management on the date of this presentation. Spanning a 30+ year career, he has released 36 motion pictures of which 16 were nominated for Academy Awards receiving a total of 6 Academy Awards. And now Mario Kassar is back with Carolco Pictures as its Chief Development Executive, once again, intent on producing his next great film "Audition", a remake of Ryu Murakami cult horror classic from the hit novel. 3 FILM PRODUCTION: AUDITION Audition is a remake of the Japanese cult bestseller of the same name written by Ryu Murakami. The book was made into a Japanese film in 1999, and is considered one of the best Japanese horror films. We plan to update the story, set the film in the US and leverage the cult status. Budget: $4 million+ Director: Richard Gray Producers: Mario Kassar, Richard Gray Writers: Richard Gray, Michele Gray 4 IN THE PRESS: AUDITION Eli Roth on Japanese language film adaptation of Audition: “..Audition is a brilliant movie about perfection, and the Japanese stereotype of wanting a perfect little subservient woman, and this man holds this fraudulent casting to find a new wife. Even though it’s creepy what he’s doing, and totally sexist, and he gets what’s coming to him, you do feel bad for him. It’s also about how people are blinded by love and obsession to the point where they don’t even listen to their friends’ warnings. It’s a brilliant exercise in tension just building up to that one horror scene, and the scene is relentless.” http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/09/14/eli-rothdirector-of-the-green-inferno-on-his-favorite-bloody-moviekills.html IMBD - Number 12, in "The 30 Greatest Horror Films Of The 1990s" On Japanese language film adaptation of Audition , Quentin Tarantino stated: “A true masterpiece.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zv0WlHbBhdc The New York Times By ELVIS MITCHELL: "The Japanese psychological horror film ''Audition'' has been responsible for throngs of shaken filmgoers staggering out of theaters for the last year or so". 5 PEER COMPS: AUDITION American Remake of Japanese Horror Film Production Budget Gross Sales ROI The Ring $48 million $249 million 418.7% The Ring 2 $50 million $161 million 222% The Grudge $10 million $187 million 1770% The Grudge 2 $20 million $70 million 250% Dark Water $30 million $49 million 63% Pulse $20.5 million $30 million 46.3% The Eye $12 million $56 million 366.7% Shutter $8 million $47 million 487.5% Mirrors $35 million $77 million 120% One Missed Call $20 million $45 million 125% 6 FILM PRODUCTION: LOVE BITES In Love Bites, an LA detective joins forces with a famous Hollywood starlet Vampire in a race against time to catch an undead serial killer preying upon Hollywood’s secret supernatural population.
