Established in Poole, Dorset, in 1990,
Greendale Construction Limited is a client-focused
Chartered Building Company with a reputation
for quality, value and reliability.
CONSTRUC TION
Over the years, we’ve built an impressive list
of clients - largely from referrals and repeat
business. We are central South coast based
and work within a hundred mile radius
of our Poole office. We offer all aspects
of construction work - from new-build,
refurbishment and conservation, to repairs,
maintenance and special works. In addition,
we specialise in carrying out refurbishment
or fit out works in operational situations
within commercial properties.
Our 50-strong, multi-trade labour force is
directly employed, giving us the flexibility
and control necessary to ensure the highest
quality results. We’re also able to rely on the
skills of sub-contractors and suppliers who
we’ve worked with for many years and are
familiar with meeting our exacting standards.
Every project is managed by a qualified
Site Manager with Contract or Surveying
management support.

The quality of our work and our professionalism
has been recognised with numerous awards and
accreditations. In 1992 we achieved Chartered
Building Company status and are founder
members of the scheme. We’ve also won Master
Builder of the year commendations for projects
and apprentices in 1994, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004,
2005, 2008.
Regional winners of the 2005 Master Building of
the Year competition for our work at Parkstone
Golf Club, we were also regional winners and
national runners up for Apprentice of the
Year 2008. We’ve had Investors In People
accreditation since 2003 and are also registered
members of Construction Line, Safe Contractors,
Exor and the NHBC.
In 2012 we were awarded Master Builder of the
year for our work refurbishing Durlston Castle.
Greendale were winners of the RICS Awards
2015 South West in the Community Benefit
Category for the Lantern Community Craft
Workshops Project.

ABOUT US
CHRIS KANE
ROBERT HOOKER
BSC (HONS) DIRECTOR
MCIOB, DIRECTOR
A student at Central London Polytechnic,
Chris achieved a BSc (Honours) Degree
in Building in 1987 and spent his
formative years working for a Chelsea
based property developer. Later, he
moved to Bournemouth to work on
the New Operations Centre for Chase
Manhattan Bank N.A as part of the Project
Management Team. In 1990 he co-founded
Greendale with Rob Hooker and is now
a member of the Institute of Directors,
actively involved in Dorset Business.
Robert studied at Hertfordshire College
of Building and trained in London with
Y.J. Lovell before moving to Bournemouth
in 1981 where he joined Ernest Ireland
Construction [Mowlem Group] as a Site
Manager. In 1985 he became a member
of the Chartered Institute of Building and
subsequently worked as Contracts Manager
for Horton Construction. In 1990 Rob and
Chris Kane founded Greendale, and in 2009,
he became a board member for the CIOB
(Chartered Building Company Scheme).

Maria gained extensive construction
industry experience prior to joining
Greendale in 1997. Responsible for Finance,
HR & Training, in 2009 she became director
of the Dorset Construction Training Group
where she works closely with local Colleges
promoting training and apprenticeships.
Maria joined the Greendale board in 2013.
Andrew trained with DF Blanchard (Salisbury)
Ltd, progressing from Joinery Manager to
Contracts Management and Senior Surveyor.
He achieved an HNC and became member
of CIOB in 1999 and Fellowship Status in
2009. Andrew joined Greendale as Contract
Manager / Surveyor in 2004. Andrew joined
the Greendale board in 2013.

Greendale Construction has a strong presence in the
commercial sector and can demonstrate a depth of
experience in new-build, alterations, refurbishment,
and restoration of commercial and historic buildings.
Our commercial projects are commissioned
and funded by organisations in both the
private and public sectors, and cover a
broad cross-section of work. We always
take a flexible approach to the procurement
process and are able to tailor to the
requirements of each client. So, whether
it’s a traditional competitive tender, design
and build, two-stage tendering or cost plus
negotiated, we’re happy to accommodate.
Adopting the best procurement method is
dependent on factors such as time scales,
planning issues, ‘buildability’ and tendering
protocol. Working closely with your chosen
project design team, we assess all these issues
before advising on the most suitable option.
Our team has extensive experience
and expertise in managing work within
operational environments. We adhere to
strict Health and Safety guidelines, and our
clients can rest assured that we have tried
and tested procedures in place that ensure
minimal inconvenience for the duration of
the project.

Our in-house electrical division, headed up by an approved and
fully qualified electrician, offers a full installation and rewiring
service for private and commercial clients.
Services include the installation of fire

PAT testing, general electrical inspection
and testing.
There’s a reliable call-out service for
our registered clients and we also
provide maintenance services for facilities

We value our people. They are dedicated,
highly skilled, and prepared to be flexible when
the circumstances demand. Many of our staff
have been with us for over 12 years, and their
commitment is repaid by the opportunities we
offer to everyone for personal development
and promotion.
Over 40% of our current workforce
originally trained as apprentices with the
company, with some having now reached
Senior Site Management level. We are very
serious about providing apprenticeship
opportunities – in site carpentry, electrical
work and painting and decorating – and our
experienced trade-based staff make
outstanding mentors.

We encourage training at all levels and
make considerable investment in providing an
extensive improvement programme for all our
staff. Our new head office is equipped with a
dedicated training facility, and we are committed
to working closely with local schools, colleges
and Construction Skills (CITB) to train and
provide for the future of our industry.

principals. IIP has helped to develop and
empower our staff. It has improved our review
and communication processes, and it has given
us clear targets for planned growth which are
