home to 23 enslaved individuals of African
descent. Step into the working gristmill and

Philipse family and the enslaved community.

Master storyteller Jonathan Kruk offers a dramatic performance of
Washington Irving’s classic tale, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, featuring the
Headless Horseman, Ichabod Crane, Brom Bones, and Katrina Van Tassel.
Flavored with live spooky organ music by Jim Keyes, Kruk’s storytelling

Taking the tale of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow to its
darkest extremes, Horseman’s Hollow returns for a
third year of highly entertaining haunted mayhem, now
expanded by popular demand to 11 evenings.
Philipsburg Manor transforms into a terrifying landscape ruled by the undead, the evil, and the insane. Visitors begin
walking a haunted trail, stumbling upon scary scenes of a town driven mad by the Headless Horseman. The Hollow’s
unfortunate inhabitants are all too ready to keep visitors from ever leaving. Creatures, human and otherwise, lurk in the
shadows, ready to terrify the unsuspecting while incredible special effects disorient and unsettle. Elaborate costumes
and the work of award-winning feature-film makeup artists make it all too real. Those who survive the trail must still
negotiate a twisted maze of horrors too terrible to describe, only to end up in the lair of the Horseman. Heads will
definitely roll…maybe even your own! This is Sleepy Hollow’s premier haunted attraction, right in the heart of the village.

Long before they teamed up, Jonathan and Craig shared an early connection to
Peter Pratt’s Inn, an 18th-century home steeped in history. Located in the oldest
section of Yorktown, the Inn occupies the battle site where the British Tories defeated George Washington’s Northern Continental
Command Post in 1781. Nearly 150 years later, it became known as the Croton Heights Inn, catering to local residents and
luminaries including the Vanderbilts, the Gettys, and Duncan Hines.

Peter and Janet Pratt bought the property in 1965 and later enlisted their son Jonathan as head chef of Peter Pratt’s Inn. It was
here that Craig Purdy got his first restaurant job more than 31 years ago, as a dishwasher. Amid the suds and hot water, his culinary
interests began to percolate, and in 2002, Craig returned to Peter Pratt’s as co-proprietor. The fusion of Jonathan’s and Craig’s
culinary tastes sparked the creation of Ümami Café, which has become a local favorite during The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze®.
Plans are also underway to open a New French Brasserie in Croton, by the name of Tagine.
