This excursion takes place if there is enough time and if there is an interesting program to present. As it is on a Saturday no political activities take place and if we cannot find a political person to give an interesting presentation it might not be advisable to include this excursion in our program. When we have to cancel this item we will organise if possible an alternative as for instance a small sightseeing tour in Brussels by bus. The busses need to be back at the hotel 18.00 hrs for the guests to prepare for the galadinner. The busses leave at 19.00 hrs for galadinner at Het Pomphuis (De Ark), Siberiastraat, 2030 Antwerpen, www.hetpomphuis.be and www.deark-antwerpen.be. 7. Galadinner at Het Pomphuis (De Ark), Antwerp 19.30 Ð 22.00/23.00 hrs. * Welcoming drink entering De Ark. * Speeches during three course dinner. There will be one bus that will drive two times from De Ark to the hotel: an early ride at 22.00 hrs. and a second ride at 23.00 hrs. This is necessary to keep the budget of the busses as low as possible and gives guests who have to leave early on Sunday morning an opportunity to have sufficient time to rest. SUNDAY JUNE 7TH 8. Departure home 10.00 hrs. Transportation to the airfield EBBT will be provided by one bus and private cars for guests who are flying home with their own plane and guests who want to fly at the airfield with aircraft from the flying club. Transportation for commercial flights from Brussels or Antwerp or any other departurepoint will be provided by two small busses and private cars. All transportation arrangements will be presented during the weekend. See the last page for general info. EBBT The airfield of Brasschaat has a rich history: in 2010 it existed 100 years! The aeroclub is now almost 65 years young! See the website of the aeroclub information about aircraft: www.mvcb.be. EBBT airfield is PPR and principally only open during weekends and when special consent is given. However, Friday June 5th the airfield will be open and communication will be conducted by an ATControler on 122.90. There probably will not be any other airtraffic, but please use the radio to keep informed. Guests will be greeted by members of the club. Registration will follow in the clubhouse (hopefully a new accomodation at that time) where everybody will get an identificationcard with information about the program. Please wear this card during the whole weekend. Also a goodybag will be issued with general information about the excursions and some gifts from sponsors. A light lunch will be served in the clubhouse or outside (weather permitting), speeches made by officials, etc. etc. Time to greet old en new friends and enjoy being together again! Guests who will fly with clubaircraft on Sunday may meet their instructor(s) if possible. Arrivaltime 12.00 hrs. but it is no problem to be early. From 10.00 oÕclock there will be people present. Departuretime will be 15.00 hrs. One bus and private cars will go to the first excursion, Arboretum, Kalmthout. house 173 Paircraft Pcars Guests arriving by plane will be assigned a parking place for the plane outside at the P (aircraft) on the map. Guests arriving by car will park their car next to the buildings or on the road, marked P (cars) on the map. entrance road to airport (sign) Kalmthout N117 Brasschaat The entrance road to the airfield is on the Essensesteenweg (N117) from Brasschaat to Kalmthout. The entrance road is opposite house number 173 (for your carnavigation). There is a small sign AIRPORT at the road visable from both directions. The Arboretum is a worldfamous and unique treegarden. From all over the world yearly many thousands of naturelovers visit the garden with more than 7000 species of flowers and trees. The garden is 12,5 hectare with trees as old as 150 years. Every year a lot of special activities are organised: exhibitions related to blooming plants, flowers and fruits, sculptures and special programs for schoolchildren. Courses are given in how to work in your garden, to clip roses and other plants and trees. There is a shop with wonderful gardenarticles, kitchenware, cutlery, etc. ideal for gifts. A restaurant with terras where you can have a drink and a small snack is available after a tour in the garden. They have wheelchairs for guests with walking problems so they also can discover the pleasures of nature. We will arrive at approximately 15.30 hrs. and we will be greeted by the manager of the garden, Mr. Rammeloo, who will give a short introduction. After that a guided tour will be conducted for which four guides are available (english and german). Please take your cameraÕs with you because it will be worth your while! Dogs are allowed on the leash. After the tour we will visit the shop and sit down in the restaurant or on the terras and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a local snack with a very special name... The bus will leave the Arboretum again at 17.30 hrs. to go to the hotel. Private cars will follow the bus. The hotel has many modern and comfortable double rooms. Also a lot of facilities are available to guests either free or for a small fee. A new wellness centre with swimming pool and fitness area is ready for guests. It might be a reason for you to come early or stay for another day. Checkout on Sunday is 17.00 hrs. so enough time to enjoy all the luxuries. Check the website for more information (www.hotelbeveren.be). We will arrive at approximately 18.30 hrs. Cars can be parked free of charge at the parking. Rooms will be issued and everybody will have until 20.00 hrs. when an informal dinner will be served in one of the diningrooms. After arrival the specific diningroom will be announced. The next morning after breakfast, which is available from 06.30 - 10.30 hrs, the Annual General Meeting of FEWP will be held in room Londen from 08.30 - 10.00 hrs. The busses will leave for Brussels at 10.30 hrs. This day two busses will be available. You will be assigned a specific bus with which you will travel all day. The system will be explained to you during registration. We will arrive in Brussels at the museum at approximately 11.30 hrs. The museum is located in these buildings since 1923. The world exhibition in 1910 was the reason to bring all the exhibits together and make it into a permanent museum. The exhibition has been expanded regularly but it kept its authentic atmosphere. Especially the department of aviation is worth visiting: more than 150 aircraft are part of the collection. These aircraft are mainly from World War I and most of them completely original. No dogs are allowed. There will be guides available (english and german). Lunch will be served in the restaurant from which you have a perfect view on the airplanes. The busses will leave the museum at approximately three oÕclock. As it is a Saturday no political activities take place at the European Parliament. We are still trying to find one of the delegates willing to give a presentation on a subject that is interesting to us to make the excursion worth while. No dogs are allowed. Allthough the European Parliament plays a significant role in our lives today we feel that only a sightseeing tour will not justify an excursion. If we have to cancel this tour, we will organise if possible an alternative as for instance a small sightseeing tour in Brussels by bus. The busses will have to leave Brussels at 17.00 hrs to be back in time at the hotel (18.00 hrs) to give everybody enough time to prepare for the galadinner. A GOLDEN COMBINATION Our Gala dinner takes place in one of the most renowned restaurants of Antwerp situated directly on the harbour. Through the wall of glass on the harbourside you will have a breathtaking view on the harbour. Wellbehaving dogs are allowed on the leash. We will arrive all together at half past seven and - while entering the Ark - a welcoming drink will be served. A three course dinner will be served in the amphitheater of the Ark. During dinner we will have time for speeches and other pleasant formalities. After dinner one bus is available for the returntrip to the hotel. It will make two rides: one at 22.00 hrs and one at 23.00 hrs to accomodate guests who have to leave early the next morning. GENERAL INFORMATION Transportation Friday and Sunday we will have one 50-person bus available: Friday for transportation from EBBT via Arboretum to hotel and Sunday from hotel to EBBT. We also have two small busses available to pick up guests from airports Brussels and Antwerp and eventually from trains. Furthermore we will have several private cars available on Friday and Sunday. Saturday we will have two 50-person busses which will be enough for the whole group for the whole day. Except for the returntrip from the galadinner to the hotel: we will drive two times with one bus. Communication On the backside of your identificationcard the program will be written, together with the names and mobile phone numbers of the persons that will help streamline the program. You can ask them at all times about all questions you have concerning the program and your participation. In the hotel there will be a billboard with the program and any changes and additional informatie will be posted there. Check the billboard. Changes will also be announced in the busses during the excursions on Saturday. In every bus there will be one or two assistants. Participation Read the itinerary carefully. Fill out the registrationform completely. All questions will be answered as soon as possible by me. As there are no unlimited places in the busses, hotel and restaurants, we had to put a maximum on the number of participants: 100. We think that this number is quite sufficient to accomodate all persons interested. We do not think we ever had that many, but it would be nice! If you want to be sure of your weekend, send the registrationform early so you will not be disappointed. Dogs are allowed in the hotel. This is an exception on the rule, especially for our event. So do not cause any annoyance to the other hotelguests. I am a dogowner myself so I know all about it. Dogs are allowed in the Arboretum as long as they are on a leash. Dogs are not allowed in the museum and the European Parliament. They are allowed in the Ark during the galadinner as long as they behave themselves and are on a leash. Publicity We will try to have the media (probably locally) present on Friday when all participants arrive at EBBT. We will organise a cameraman that will cover most items of the program on video or photo. At this time it is not known how the film and pictures taken will be available to the participants, but it will be communicated early in the program. Special items Guests with special needs who need assistance (walking aid, wheelchair, etc.) will be recognised with a special sign on their identificationcard. Show it to the assistants and you will get all the help you need. Guests with special diet wishes will also get a special card with their identificationcard which will show the waiters in the restaurants where to bring the special plates. GENERAL REQUEST: Make life for yourself and the assistants as easy as possible and be on time for the busses!!! HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND, ENJOY YOURSELF AND UNTIL NEXT YEAR!!!
