Please join us at 6:30 pm on Monday, September 8th at the
Brigantine Gallery for a demonstration of new techniques and
products from Golden Paints.
Sandra Bacon is a classically trained, versatile artist. She has been
working with Golden Paint for 8 years, and incorporates the many
faceted acrylic products into her artwork. She is a member of
Dandelion Gallery in Waukegan and also shows her art on a national
basis. Her many public artworks can be seen internationally.
Contrasting the new QoR watercolor and Golden high flow, Sandie is
going to present a demonstration of working on different grounds to
create amazing effects: wet on wet, dry brush, working with high
flow in refillable markers. . . For both traditional and contemporary
artists, this demonstration shows a range of new ideas. Refreshments
will be served.
This is our dues renewal month and you may pay your dues this
evening to Chuck Wright, our Treasurer, by using the form provided
on Page 5 in this newsletter. We need this form filled out accurately
to insure that we have all your correct information for our
membership list.

DGAG EXHIBITIONS
Indian Prairie Library will be hosting us in
September of 2014. Drop off of art is Tuesday,
September 2nd from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. Ask a friend
to help if you are unable to make that time frame.
Our work will be shown at the Woodridge Library
in November of 2014. We will be having a
reception there on Sunday, November 2 from 2 - 4
pm. Participating artists will be asked to bring a
dish of finger foods.
We will be back at the Downers Grove Library to
exhibit in February, 2015.
Our next exhibit at The Brigantine will be midApril to Mid-May, 2014.
Members will be notified when new exhibit spaces
become available for us.

Terry Niccoli has a painting in the Fifth Biennial Member Juried Exhibition of
Chicago Pastel Painters from August 6th through September 6th.
Charles .L. Smith has painted the cover for the newly published book "Di-Wee" a
story of Viet Nam.
Nancy Staszak has seven pieces at the Southern Illinois Art & Artisans Center,
showing there for the next few months. She has been accepted into the Illinois
Artisans Program (under the auspices of the Illinois State Museum Society). The
Center is located at 14967 Gun Greek Trail in Whittington IL., 62897 off Interstate
57 near Rend Lake. It is a visitors center and part of the Rend Lake Recreation
complex. Nancy will also have a featured space at 4ArtInc Gallery at the ZhouB Art
Center in Bridgeport (Chicago) IL . in August, and new art there in September and
October. The Gallery is open by appointment, but also on Third Friday Gallery
nights from 6 to 10 pm. 4ArtInc is located on the 4th floor, 1059 West 35th Street
in Chicago IL. phone# (773) 254-5100.
The Art Institute will be showing "Heaven and Earth", the Art of Byzantium from
Greek Collections, from September 27 to February 15th?
Bloomingdale Park District, located at 108 S. Bloomingdale Rd. Bloomingdale, Il.
60108 will be hosting the Illinois Watercolor Society member's exhibit from August
23 through September 27. The reception will be held on Sunday, September 14
from 2 - 4 pm.
Congregation Beth Shalom, an unaffiliated synagogue in Naperville, is offering the
opportunity for 1 or 2 person shows to exhibit 2-dimensional art in their gallery
space for 2-month periods, October, 2014 through June, 2015. Deadline:
September 15, 2014. Please submit a CD with 10 images, Slide list, specifying –
title, medium, size, & date, $20 jury fee – check payable to: Congregation Beth
Shalom, Resume, Artist’s Statement and a SASE if you wish your CD returned.
Bloomingdale Park District Art Museum is hosting the Juried Media of Choice Show
titled “Sky’s the Limit”from October 11 through November 8, 2014. Reception:
Sunday, October 26, between 2-4PM. Local artists creatively interpret this theme
in their own unique style. The displayed works will cover an interesting variety of
subjects in 2-D and 3-D formats. Artists who would like to enter work can call the
Museum at 630-339-3570. Location: at 108 South Bloomingdale Road,
Bloomingdale, Illinois 60108.
