Peanut Tank-Mix Time (Dr. Eric Prostko UGA Extension Peanut Weed Specialist)
Now is the time of year that most of us will get numerous questions about the various tank-mixes that peanut growers would like to
try. Here are a few reminders:
1) With over 90,000 potential peanut tank-mixtures, it is impossible for UGA or anyone else to have all the answers. If a grower puts
more than 2 chemicals in a spray tank, it is very likely that that specific mixture will not have been adequately tested.
2) Just because a specific tank-mixture may not have caused peanut injury on one day, it does not mean it will not cause injury at
another time. Peanut response to tank-mixtures is a function of many factors including temperature, humidity, leaf wetness, and
overall plant health.
2) The following publication entitled: “Tank-Mixing Chemicals Applied to Peanut Crops: Are the Chemicals Compatible?” is a good source
of information. This publication is attached to the email containing this newsletter.
3) Recent research from NC State University indicated that manganese did not affect the efficacy of Select, Poast, Cadre, Pursuit, 2,4-DB,
Abound, Bravo, Headline, or Folicur. Common ragweed control with Cobra was reduced 6% by dry Mn sulfate but not liquid Mn.

Georgia Pesticide Clean Day: A Great Opportunity Get Rid of Unused Pesticides
The Georgia Department of Agriculture is proud to announce it has secured limited funding for a one day Georgia Clean Day Pesticide
Waste Collection Day. The event will be held in Laurens County at the Southern Pine Ag Expo, 575 Southern Pines Rd., Dublin, Ga.
31021 on June 29, 2016, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Georgia Clean Day is a program that gives everyone an opportunity to discard old,
unusable, or cancelled pesticides to a hazardous waste contractor for disposal. Pesticides in leaking containers or disposed of
improperly may cause environmental damage by contaminating water supplies or harming people and wildlife. Some pesticides that
have been used in the past are now in need of proper disposal. Participation in the Clean Day Program remains free of charge to all
private and commercial applicators with the understanding that the event is designed / intended for farmers, lawn care, golf courses,
and pest control companies. The Georgia Department of Agriculture will be requiring pre-registration for the event. Contact the Irwin

Irrigation Scheduling
I am still getting farmers visiting and considering using the USDA developed Irrigator Pro Program. Several farmers are using the recently
modified Irrigator Pro http://irrigatorpro.org/farm/ computer program to determine irrigation scheduling in cotton, corn and peanut. So
if you are interested in the Irrigator Pro method we have information on where to order most of the supplies you will need. You will
need to moister Watermark Digital Watermark Reader, and Watermark sensors and you will also
