Cyril & Methodius Church 3VOLUME 7, ISSUE 3 MAY/JUNE MAY / JUNE2016 2016 PAGE 3 President’s Message Brothers and Sisters: Spring has Sprung! "Spring is sooner recognized by plants than by men." ~ Chinese Proverb "It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!" ~ Mark Twain In Nature, we exit out of the dead of winters hibernation and move into the vibrancy and new life that spring offers all around us. Our Lodge is also moving into its new Council of Officers who are bringing with them new and exciting ideas to offer and promote to you the membership and the Community. Take advantage of the new opportunities and explore with us our Culture and Heritage. Look out for the upcoming monthly Cultural and Heritage events that we will now be offering. Please, fill out and return the '2016 Lodge Survey' now in this months LaVoce so that you can help give us your feedback on how the Lodge is doing and how we can improve your Lodge. While the Office of President comes with a certain amount of respect and 'privilege', I do not take that lightly, which is why you will see me with the my sleeves rolled up helping to make the Lodge a better place in any and every way I can. Also, I am choosing to not sit at Table #1 the "Presidents Table" and rather mingling in so I can get to know more members and guests and see the Lodge events from other perspectives. The greatest gift you can give to me as your President is; to love and respect each other, be open and inviting (look out for a member who is alone and welcome him/her to your table), reach out to new members and guide them so that they feel welcome and most of all take an active part in YOUR Lodge. There are many things you can get involved in such as, but not limited to: Lodge activities/functions, (attend/support, Chair, sell tickets, come up with new ideas, etc.), Vegas (deal, stack, shuffle, etc.), help out in the Kitchen (cook, make coffee, serve, etc.), help in the Bar (bartend, bar-back, etc.), help with our Computers, light maintenance and repair of the building. At the Installation of Officers and at the First General Meeting I was not speaking in vain when I stated; "ask not what your Lodge can do for you, but what you can do for your Lodge." Again, many hands make for light work and will save the Lodge money in the long term, plus the bonds we will make in lifelong friends and relationships are priceless. THANK YOU to ALL of you that have volunteered their talents and continue to step up to the plate whenever needed. It has NOT gone unnoticed and is VERY APPRECIATED! My wish for you, Brother and Sisters is that your heart never loses that ache for the 'spring fever' and your garden is full and abundant with peace, love and happiness. See you ALL at the next General Meeting, Lodge function/ event or reach out if you wish to talk, have a question or concern. Always, keep in your prayers our Brothers and Sisters who are sick; our deceased members; and ALL the Service men and women that protect us each and every day here and abroad.
