KPWDC Supported Entry 2012
aturday, May 12, dawned clear and dry — a perfect day for the
Keystone Portuguese Water Dog Club’s Supported Entry. This
popular Conformation event is held every year in conjunc-
tion with the Chester Valley Kennel Club show at Ludwig’s Corner.

This year’s Sweeps were judged by Rita Araujo, a PWD breeder

from Dighton, Massachusetts. There were nineteen entries in various
Puppy and Veteran classes. Best Puppy (from the 12 – 18 month class)
was Downeast No Rhyme No Reason, owned by Kathan Kennedy
of Hooksett, NH. The Best Veteran in Sweeps was Joanne Chilton’s
Paws (CH Windruff All Paws on Deck).

Regular Classes
Thirty-six PWDs entered in Regular Classes and were judged
by Jean Fournier, a familiar face in the Breed ring to anyone who
has shown Portuguese Water Dogs more than just a little.
The puppy classes had lots of fairly poised entries (for puppies),
and showed lots of promise for future generations. As usual the
Open classes for both dogs and bitches had some very fine looking
Best of Breed: GCH Windruff Devil in the Deep Blue Sea
Best of Opposite: CH Domarco’s Journey of a Lifetime
Winners Dog & Best of Winners: Downeast Kwik Hide Your Heart
Winners Bitch: Downeast No Rhyme No Reason
PWDs. But the highlights of the classes were the brown dogs from

The final group of the day showed in the Best of Breed class.
The winner here was Indy (GCH Windruff Devil in the Deep Blue
Sea. Indy continues to have success at the Supported Entry; he was

elcome Summer! This time of year is the favorite for
me and my dogs because it means lots and lots of water!
Keystone’s Water Camp just ended this past week-
end as I write this and a big thank you to Deborah Lee Miller-Riley
for creating such enthusiasm among the participants.
Our July 21, 2012 water workshop and trial is currently open

look into, please contact me or anyone on the Board. As a reminder,
the Board meets the first Sunday of the month, via teleconference,
where the previous month’s minutes are reviewed, approved and
made available to the Members upon request to the Secretary.
I am looking forward to seeing new and familiar faces this
