Dear Rain Athletics Families and Athletes,
Rain is often described as symbolizing new life and cleansing of troubles to allow new
growth and prosperity. Rain Athletics thus defines a new athletic venture that promises growth,
prosperity, and a fresh opportunity and outlook on All Star cheerleading. The sport of All Star
cheerleading inherently promotes teamwork, perseverance, and a strong work ethic. With these
qualities in mind, Rain Athletics strives to instill life lessons that prove to its athletes that personal
and team benefits received are directly correlated with work and effort given. True to the name,
Rain Athletics exemplifies the need for athletes to learn to “ dance in the rain”, and weather the
storms that accompany life’s experiences. Rain Athletics strives to teach these life lessons on and
off the competitive floor, with a goal of instilling qualities that will stay with it’s athletes long after
they have hung up their uniform.
As we enter our second year, we look forward to extending our Rain Athletics family, and
sharing the memories, traditions, and good times we have created so far. Within the gym, athletes
will be pushed to their limits, and truly learn just how far they can go. Within the gym, athletes will
learn that dreams can become realities as long as you’re prepared to work for it. At Rain Athletics,
our goal is to teach young athletes not only skills that can be used on the mat, but also skills that
can be used in life. Rain Athletics stands for family, the power of love, and the strength of dreams.
Whether you’re new or returning, we are thrilled to have you along!
We are looking forward to a year as equally as successful as last. It is our promise to every
parent that we will love your child as if they are our own, and always give 100% of ourselves to
assure they are the best athletes they can be. It is our promise to every athlete that with 100%
effort given at practices, we will assist them in achieving every goal they set for themselves. We
will create memories for each athlete that will last a lifetime, and we will love and cherish the time
we get to spend sharing our passion with them.
Moving forward, we thank you in advance for your belief and trust in Rain Athletics. Our
hope is that with each new year, we are allowed the chance to share our passion and our family
with more and more families. We thank you for that opportunity. Here’s to dancing in the Rain!
With Love,
The Rain Athletics Staff

2014-2015 Team Placements
Welcome to the 2014-2015 Rain Athletics team placements!
Team Placement Process
Our team placement process is run very much like a regular practice to create a low-stress
environment! An athlete’s team placement is designated based on age, the skills demonstrated
during the team placement clinics, the potential of the athlete to progress quickly/apply
corrections, commitment, and work ethic.
Athletes should attend the team placement dates at the location of their preference. Level 1-4
team placements will be held at both locations. All ages interested in levels 1-4 should attend for
the times listed (athletes will be broken into age groups during evaluations). Level 5 team
placements will be held only at the Elizabeth location. It is strongly suggested that athletes trying
out for a Level 5 team also attend the Level 1-4 team placements at a location of their choice. If
an athlete is interested in being placed on teams at both locations, they are welcome to attend
both team placements OR may simply indicate their location preference on their General
Registration form. If an athlete is not able to attend team placements, please contact us before the
team placement dates so we can schedule a private evaluation. Athletes are asked to arrive at
least 15 minutes early to both days of team placements wearing a black sports bra and black
shorts with a bow of their choice. Athletes should arrive with all items listed under the “Team
Placement Checklist” section of this document.
At the conclusion of team placements, teams will be formed and listed on the Rain Athletics
Website by athlete number. These team placements are tentative and are subject to change at the
coaches’ discretion. In the event that an athlete is not able to reproduce the skills and positive
qualities demonstrated at the team placement clinics throughout the season, the athlete may be
required to attend extra classes/private lessons to regain the skills lost, or may be moved to a
more appropriate team.

for your athlete. Athletes who are placed on more than one team are responsible for all crossover

In the case that an athlete is placed on two teams and cannot fulfill the obligations of both teams

Season Expectations & Code of Conduct
What You Can Expect From Rain Athletics – Our Philosophy
Rain Athletics is excited to provide our families with a fresh new approach to All Star
Cheerleading. We promise to take a positive approach while still holding our athletes accountable.
We are excited to share the tips and secrets we have gathered over the years both as coaches,
cheerleaders, and gymnasts. With Rain Athletics, you can expect pure dedication from every
member of our staff. We will always strive for perfection from ourselves and know that our
complete dedication and focus is necessary to reach our goals. We promise to treat your children
as if they were our own, and guide them in the right direction in cheerleading and in life. Rain
Athletics promises to be a program of dignity and respect. Rain Athletics will only put the most
innovative and perfected routines on the competition floor. Our staff is committed to assuring that
every level is given the same amount of attention, and we are committed to maintaining a wellrounded program where each level is equally as successful as the next. You can expect for our staff
to be fully prepared for each practice. We assure you that each practice will be ran with
organization in order to maximize the progression of each athlete and their teams.
What We Expect of Our Athletes (Code of Conduct)
In The Gym
• Athletes will be expected to be physically, emotionally, and mentally at every practice. Our
athletes should come to practice focused and ready to allow our sport to clear their mind of
every issue they have outside of cheerleading. Attendance is a vital part of our success and
will be taken extremely seriously. If we are missing even one person, it makes running our
routine nearly impossible. Please be on time for every practice as well. Teams may be held
over their scheduled practice time for the same amount of time that it took for the entire
team to arrive at practice.
• Rain Athletics athletes will be supportive of every level and every team in the gym. In our
facility, everyone is equal. From Tiny 1 to Senior 5, our expectations of support will be taken
very seriously. We are a family, and Rain Athletics would not be possible without each
other.
• Athletes need to come to the gym dressed to win. We expect our athletes to come ready to
go: hair pulled back with a bow, light makeup on (for older athletes), and dressed in the
proper attire. The schedule for practice wear will be released well in advance. It is
mandatory that each athlete follow the practice wear schedule perfectly. When we look
good, we feel good. No athletes will be permitted to practice without their hair pulled up

with a bow, or in a headband bow (for athletes with short hair, prior permission required).
No exceptions.
Proper cheer shoes are required in the gym at all times. While we do not require a
particular brand, the shoes must be specific to indoor cheerleading activity. If you need
assistance choosing a brand and ordering shoes, we will be happy to help.
Absolutely no jewelry. Not only is it a hazard to you, it is a hazard to your teammates.
Please leave all jewelry at home as Rain Athletics is not responsible for any lost or damaged
property.
Athletes of Rain Athletics are expected to show class, respect, and sportsmanship inside
and outside of the gym. Disrespect of any kind towards coaches, instructors, team parents,
teammates, and others absolutely will not be tolerated. In the case an athlete fails to
comply with this expectation, the athlete’s future involvement with the program will be
analyzed. Respect is more than just treating others properly; it is treating our facility
properly. Any athlete who is found to be vandalizing, destroying, or mishandling gym
equipment will also have their future involvement analyzed.
Social Media
• Social media has become a huge part of cheerleading. Although Twitter, Instagram, and
Facebook have become great ways for the athletes in our sport to connect, share
friendships, and learn from one another, it has also created a battleground for cheerleading
drama. Rain Athletics will have the same expectations of class and respect when it comes to
social media. In no way are any athletes permitted to degrade a teammate, our gym, or
another gym in any way online. You are representing our gym, and we will take that very
seriously. Athletes of Rain Athletics should avoid using profanities, making derogatory
statements, posting incriminating photographs, and talking about any other person whether
it is cheerleading related or not. Failure to comply with this expectation will result in
immediate action. Depending on the degree of the infraction, we may simply ask for the
post to be removed, or discuss the future involvement of the athlete.
• Athletes are in no way allowed to post any confidential Rain Athletics information. When it
comes to stunts, pyramids, and routines, Rain Athletics will be on the forefront of recreating
the standard for cheerleading. Our routines/routine elements will only work to our
advantage given they stay our secret. Please refrain from posting any videos from inside the
gym online unless given permission from staff.
• Our uniforms, practice wear, and any other team apparel is custom made. You may not post
a picture in or of any gym apparel until the gym indicates it is ok to do so.

Outside Of The Gym/Competitions
• No matter where we are and no matter what we are doing, if an athlete is representing Rain
Athletics, they must represent us to the highest degree. Any time you are a wearing
anything Rain Athletics, you are representing us. From wearing your uniform at
competitions, to wearing a t-shirt and bow at a restaurant afterwards, you are expected to
show the same amount of class and respect you would in the presence of your coaches or
team parents.
• Please refrain from partaking in ANY dangerous sport or activity outside of the gym.
Although we want you to be versatile and able to participate in more than just our sport, we
also want you to be the best you can be for the season. If you plan to partake in such
activities, please educate yourself adequately, wear protective clothing (shin guards,
helmets, etc.) and make sure you are supervised in order to prevent any possible injuries or
mishaps.
• At competitions please show sportsmanship, class, and respect. Cheer for everyone even if
they don’t cheer for you.
• Avoid any type of altercations or arguments. Without a doubt, there will always be that
person who is unhappy with results, unhappy with their own performance, or just plain
unhappy. Know that what we are doing is right, and handle it that way. Simply walk away
and notify a coach if any further action is needed.
Rain Athletics has made these policies not only to protect our gym, but also to protect our
athletes. We care about our athletes as people, and want them to be respected as a good
hearted, respectful person. We are not just your coaches, we are your mentors and life guides, and
we take that responsibility very seriously.
What We Expect of Our Families and Friends (Code of Conduct)
We hold our families and friends to the same high standard as our athletes. All families and friends
shall read the aforementioned “What We Expect of Our Athletes” section and be prepared to fully
support and follow all expectations. The following additional expectations are applicable within
the gym, at competitions, on social media, and anytime Rain Athletics is being represented.
•
•
Parents play a vital role in the success of Rain Athletics. First and foremost the positivity
portrayed by parents will directly affect the attitudes of your children/our teams. Please
come into the gym with an open mind and a positive attitude for your kids.
Although your input is greatly appreciated, we will handle the decision-making when it
comes to teams and routines. Though you may not understand why your child was placed

in a certain position, we promise it is for the better of the team and your child’s
progression. The decisions we make are not to upset you or your child. Every decision we
make is solely to make our teams/athletes/gym better as a whole. Under no circumstances
is it acceptable to interrupt a coach while they are working to ask why your child is placed in
a certain position. Please email a staff member to discuss any concerns you may have, and
schedule a meeting if necessary.
We want our parents to be very supportive of every team. When the opportunity is given for
a parent to watch a routine, please encourage the athletes regardless of your child’s
involvement on that team. Support is more than just telling your child good job.
Congratulate kids you may not know personally on new skills they may have gotten or how
hard they are working. First and foremost we are a family, and we must act like one.
Our facility has two parent viewing areas: one viewing window in the main lobby, and a
second floor loft that is open to the main gym. Our parent viewing areas will be open and
closed at the discretion of the coaches. Please respect that although we want you to feel at
home at the gym, sometimes it is less stressful for the children if they have a clear
atmosphere. There have been times when we have closed the viewing areas because
athletes are watching their parents and not focusing at the practice. This is a scenario when
it is safer and more productive for the athlete/team to close the viewing area.
Be a cheerleader for your athlete. We all want your child to progress, and the coaches will
handle pushing the athletes to there full potential. If you feel that your child is not giving
100%, please notify a coach and we will be sure to handle the situation. The best thing you
can do is to be supportive. The best phrases to share with your athlete to show support are:
“I love watching you cheer”, “I’m proud of you”, and “I love you”.
We have a designated area in which the athletes can do homework, projects, eat, etc., if
they are expected to be at the gym for a long time. We believe that academics should be
taken very seriously, but please refrain from not allowing your child to come to practice
based off of a school assignment or need to study. As part of committing to an All Star
team, we expect our athletes to learn proper time management skills in managing their
school and team commitments.
Rain Athletics is a drama free zone. It is not acceptable in any form to talk about any child or
family other than your own. We will be supportive of each other no matter the situation.
Parent altercations will result in immediate removal from our program. In some cases, the
Rain Athletics staff may schedule a mandatory parent meeting if issues are brought to our
attention.
There will be no yelling or speaking to the athletes from the parent viewing area or from
inside the gym area. No exceptions. Failure to follow this rule will result in parent

permission into the gym area and viewing areas being revoked for a set period of time. This
rule must be followed to assure the focus and safety of all athletes.
Please be sure to have your child to the gym no later than five minutes before their practice
starts, and be sure to be at the gym at least ten minutes early for pickup. In some cases our
practices may be dismissed early, and more frequently our practices will be held over. Be
prepared for this, and note than in no way is it acceptable to remove your child from
practice until the coach dismisses the team, unless prior permission is granted.
Please email the coach you wish to speak with directly for any issues you need to discuss.
Communication & Team Parent Expectations
Rain Athletics utilizes a number of medias to communicate on a normal basis. In an effort to cut
down on the high number of emails people receive of a daily basis, we do not communicate
standard gym information via email very often. The following are the means in which we
communicate gym information. It is the parent/athlete’s responsibility to check for information
regularly:
-
Facebook Family Page (private group)
Website Posts (You can subscribe to receive updates)
Twitter (@rainathletics)
Facebook Business Page (facebook.com/rainathletics)
Remind101 (Text message service for gym-wide and team-specific information)
Email ([email protected], not often)
Each team will also have an assigned Team Parent. The team parent will contact you via text (and
possibly email) to discuss team-specific updates. The assigned team parent will be the only parent
authorized to share team information. If you have a question/concern during regular practice hours
and/or competition, please FIRST contact your team parent, or post in the Facebook Family
group. Please also know that coaches receive hundreds of text messages and industry emails daily.
By contacting your team parent first and/or utilizing the Facebook Family group, we can assure
your questions get answered, and any major concerns can be brought to our attention ASAP.
If you must speak with a coach in person, please see them before the first practice of the day or
after the last practice of the day. To schedule a meeting, please email us at [email protected].
We value your input and want to hear your feedback, and answer your questions. By setting up a
meeting, we can assure that adequate time is scheduled that does not interfere with team
practices/competitions. NO PARENTS ARE PERMITTED TO ENTER THE GYM.

The Rain Athletics name and logo shall not be reproduced in any form or variation without
permission from the Rain Athletics owners. This includes but is not limited to: apparel (homemade
or otherwise acquired from any vendor [bling, airbrush, screen-print, etc.] other than what Rain
Athletics directly provides in our pro-shop), print materials, advertisements, etc. This policy will be
strictly enforced.
Products & Services
Rain Athletics provides a number of services to help our athletes learn and grow throughout the
season. In addition to Competitive All Star Cheerleading for all ages and levels of experience, we
also offer Competitive All Star Prep (based on interest), a complete Class Program for all
experience levels, and private lessons with our extremely diverse and experienced staff. To read
more about our products and services, visit our website at www.rainathletics.com!
All classes and private lessons can be scheduled via our completely automated online scheduling
system! Policies and procedures apply as listed when scheduling.
Practice & Camp Information
The practice and camp/choreography schedule will be determined once 2014-2015 teams are
established at both locations. Schedules are subject to change monthly, but will be available a
month ahead of schedule. Changes to schedules will be as minimal as possible.
Team Practices
Each All Star team will typically have 4-5 total hours of team practice per week, and an additional
1-hour of team tumbling per week either before or after their regular team practice. Depending on
the level and age group of the team, practice times may be more or less. All Star Prep teams will
have one team practice, and one team tumbling session per week.
Additional practices may be added as deemed necessary closer to competitions. Quality of
attendance and work ethic at scheduled practice sessions is critical to the success of our teams.
Camps
Each All Star team will have a number of mandatory camps over the course of the summer. These
dates will be released at Registration, as available. These camps will include a dance camp,

pyramid camp, and routine choreography camp. In addition, multiple clinics with coaches from
around the country will be offered, but are not mandatory.
Practice and Camp Attendance Policy
A team’s success is directly correlated with attendance and focus at practice and camp sessions.
The following are the expectations of every Rain Athletics athlete:
•
•
•
•
•
•
Attend every scheduled practice and camp
Arrive on time
Arrive prepared in appropriate practice wear
Be focused and ready to make progress at every practice and camp
Report any planned absences via the online Absence Request form at least two weeks prior
to any absence (see additional information below).
Notify coaches and/or team parents immediately of any unexpected absence or late arrival
(see additional information below).
Planned absences are to be submitted via our online Absence Request form at least two weeks
prior to any absence. All absences are subject to coach review and approval or disproval. It is the
expectation that an athlete will attend practice in the case that an absence is disproved. In the
case of an unplanned absence, notify the team coach and/or team parent as soon as possible.
Examples of excused planned absences include: graded school function, approved family summer
vacation, or a religious obligation/event. Examples of unexcused planned absences include: minor
illness, parties, non-graded school events, family outings, other sports practices/events, etc.
Unplanned absences will be analyzed on a case-by-case basis.
It is important to note that any absence (excused or unexcused) may result in an athlete’s position
on a team or within a routine being altered at the discretion of the coaches. Excessive absences
and/or late arrivals may result in dismissal from the team for a particular competition or the
remainder of the year without refund. It is the job of the coach to assure that each team and each
athlete is prepared for every performance. This policy is essential to assure success is possible.
Important Note on Injuries and Illness
In the case that an athlete has sustained an injury that does not allow them to participate in
practice or a portion of practice, please notify a coach or team parent prior to practice, and
provide a doctor’s excuse when arriving to practice. If the athlete’s injury allows them to return to

competition in the same season the injury, attendance at practice is required during the duration
of the injury (as permitted by the doctor) so the athlete can stay current with changes made in the
routine. Once the individual has fully recovered, coaches will work with the athletes to ensure he
or she is choreographed back into the routine.
It is expected that athletes who are ill attend practice to either participate in a limited capacity or
sit and watch if the illness allows. If an illness prohibits an athlete from attending practice or
participating in practice, a doctor’s note must be provided regarding the illness. If an athlete is
sick the day before or morning of a competition, it is expected in nearly all circumstances that the

Competition Attendance Policy
All competitions are mandatory. By making the obligation to a Rain Athletics team for the 20142015 season, each athlete is committing to participating in each and every competition.
In the event that it is known months in advance that an athlete must miss a competition:
• A fill-in will be found for the absent athlete
• The absent athlete will need to teach the fill-in their routine at regularly scheduled practices
• The absent athlete will be replaced with the fill-in for the missed competition, with the
additional possibility of being replaced for surrounding competitions depending on the
schedule.
• The absent athlete is responsible for the fee(s) associated with the missed competition(s).
In is extremely important that all athletes are on time for every meeting time at competitions.
Tardiness to a competition meeting adds unnecessary stress to both the tardy athlete and the
athletes waiting for their team member. In the event that a late arrival causes a team to miss their
warm-up, scheduled rehearsal, or performance time, the parent/guardian of the tardy athlete will
be responsible for refunding Rain Athletics the full cost of the competition for that particular team.
Excessive tardiness to competition meeting times may result in removal from the team.

Season Costs & Financial Policies
This section highlights the costs, discounts, and financial obligations of the 2014-2015 season. The
2014-2015 season is defined as the date of registration through the conclusion of the final
competition. Competitive cheerleading, while not as costly as some youth activities, can still be an
expensive sport. We offer very competitive pricing within the industry and the Pittsburgh area. We
also offer a number of various fundraisers throughout the season to offset costs.
Season Costs
Rain Athletics will be introducing an “all-inclusive” monthly price that includes nearly all expenses
that an athlete normally incurs throughout the season. Each athlete will be responsible for 12
monthly charges from May 2014 through April 2015. Additional season costs not included in the
all-inclusive price are outlined below. Rain Athletics will not collect any money for travel, hotel
expenses, or competitive cheer shoes.
Monthly payments must be paid by the 1st of the month. Any monthly payments not received by
the 5th of the month will incur a $25 late fee. Any returned checks will result in a $30 return check
fee.
The all-inclusive price for the 2014-2015 season includes:
- Monthly Tuition
- Competition Entry Fees
- Coaches Fees
- USASF Registration/Renewal
- Music and Choreography Fees
Season costs not included in all-inclusive price:
- Team Placement Fee
- Annual Registration Fee
- Uniform
- Competition Bow/Makeup
- Gym Practice Wear
- Team Practice Wear
- Additional camps, classes, or clinics
- Crossover fees (where applicable)

Crossover Costs
Athletes who chose to crossover to a second team will be responsible for applicable crossover
fees. These fees can either be included in the monthly all-inclusive price, or paid on the 15th of the
month as is more convenient for the parent/guardian.
Crossover costs include:
- Crossover Tuition
- Crossover Competition Fees
- Crossover Bow
- Crossover Music and Choreography Fees
Discounts and Savings
Rain Athletics offers the following discounts and savings off of the monthly all-inclusive price:
- Sibling discount: Full price first athlete, $20/month discount for each additional athlete
- 5% discount if 12-month all-inclusive price is paid up front
Resignation within 2014-2015 Season
Rain Athletics does not issue refunds for any reason. All costs are non-transferable. In the event
that an athlete resigns his or her position on the team, the monthly tuition ($110.00) for the
number of months remaining must be paid. In addition, any crossover fees or outstanding
balances must also be paid to cancel the remainder of the season contract. In the event that these
fees are not paid either in full during the month of resignation, or in equal increments for the
remainder of the season, the full all-inclusive price for the remaining months will then be due.
Costs Associated with Injured Athletes
Athletes who have sustained an injury that will cause them to sit out a portion of
practice/competition, but who plans to return to active participation within the 2014-2015 season
will be required to continue to pay normally during this time. In the case that an athlete is injured
and the recovery time will not permit them to return in the 2014-2015 season (as determined and
documented by the doctor tending to the injury), the athlete will no longer be required to make
monthly payments, however no refunds will be offered. The official doctor’s notice noting the
recovery time must be provided at the time of resignation. If a doctor’s notice is not provided, the
athlete will follow the policy as defined in the “Rain Athletics Financial Commitment Packet”.
