at Clay, seemingly angry and looking for a quick knockout. But Clay’s
superior speed and mobility enabled him to elude Liston, making the
champion miss wildly and look awkward. Despite Liston’s attempts to
knock out a blinded Clay, Clay was able to survive the fifth round until
sweat and tears rinsed the irritation from his eyes. In the sixth, Clay
dominated, hitting Liston virtually at will. Liston did not answer the
bell for the seventh round, and Clay was declared the winner by TKO.
Following the win, a triumphant Clay rushed to the edge of the ring
and, pointing to the ringside press, shouted: “Eat your words!” Then,
during the now-infamous in-ring interview following the match, he
shouted, “I shook up the world!” “I talk to God every day.” “I must be
the greatest!” Framed, 21.25” x 17”. Est. $300 ~ $900 FHWAC# 26254

Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig Autographs
Very cool photo of these baseball guys. Matted with a large cutout of a baseball
and the word “Baseball” beneath the photo. George Herman, “Babe” Ruth, Jr.
was an American Major League Baseball (MLB) outfielder and pitcher who
played for 22 seasons, from 1914 through 1935. Nicknamed “The Bambino” and
“The Sultan of Swat”, he began his career as a stellar left-handed pitcher for the
Boston Red Sox, but achieved his greatest fame as a slugging outfielder for the
New York Yankees. Ruth established many MLB batting (and some pitching)
records, including career home runs (714), slugging percentage (.690), runs
batted in (RBIs) (2,213), bases on balls (2,062), and on-base plus slugging
(OPS) (1.164); his career slugging percentage and OPS records still stand today.
He was one of the first five inductees into the National Baseball Hall of Fame
in 1936. Henry Louis “Lou” or “Buster” Gehrig was an American professional
baseball first baseman who played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB)
for the New York Yankees from 1923 to 1939. Gehrig was renowned for his
prowess as a hitter and for his durability, a trait which earned him his nickname
“The Iron Horse”. A six-time World Series champion and seven-time All-Star,
he finished with a career batting average of .340, on-base percentage of .447,
slugging percentage of .632, and tallied 493 home runs and 1,995 runs batted
in (RBI). A Triple Crown winner in 1934, he was twice named the American
League’s (AL) Most Valuable Player. Gehrig was the first MLB player to have
his uniform number retired, and he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in
1939. (Information from Wikipedia) Framed, 29” x 22”. Est. $4,000 ~ $8,000
