RETREADING IS THE ONLY TECHNOLOGY WHICH CAN BREATHE NEW LIFE INTO THE UNUSED PART OF A TYRE. MODERN RETREADING IS SAFE, RELIABLE AND COST-EFFECTIVE. GLOBALLY, SIGNIFICANT RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT HAS ALLOWED THE COMPOUNDING AND ENGINEERING OF A COMPREHENSIVE RANGE OF PRECURED TREAD PATTERNS. ROUTINELY, EVEN NEW TYRES DO NOT OFFER AS MUCH CHOICE IN DESIGNS AND APPLICATION. A RETREAD ALSO ACHIEVES A SERVICE LIFE AT LEAST AS LONG AS AND COMPARABLE TO A NEW TYRE, AND MATCHES IT ALL THE WAY WHEN IT COMES TO QUALITY AND SAFETY. RETREADING IS RECYCLING. PRECURE TREADS CONSUME SIGNIFICANTLY LESS FOSSIL FUELS AND ENERGY IN PRODUCTION, AND ALLOW QUALITY TYRE CASINGS TO BE REGENERATED IN AN ECO-FRIENDLY FASHION. BOTH THE MATERIALS AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS USED HAVE ACHIEVED ABSOLUTELY TOP QUALITY STANDARDS. PASSENGER TYRES CAN GENERALLY UNDERGO RETREADING ONCE, LIGHT TRUCK AND TRUCK TYRES ONE TO FIVE TIMES AND AIRCRAFT TYRES UP TO NINE TIMES. RETREADING REDUCES COST PER KILOMETER, IMPROVES CASH FLOW, AND REDUCES EXPOSURE. SIMPLY PUT, RETREADING MAKES SENSE. THE PREREQUISITES OF RETREADING ARE THAT THE TYRE : • HAS BEEN CORRECTLY USED DURING ITS FIRST SERVICE LIFE, • HAS ALWAYS BEEN DRIVEN WITH THE CORRECT TYRE PRESSURE, AND • THAT THE TYRE BASE (CASING) IS NOT SEVERELY DAMAGED. THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS IS SUBJECT TO STRICT REGULATIONS AND THE RETREADING PLANTS ONLY USE HIGH-QUALITY PRODUCTS. THE INSPECTORS NOT ONLY CHECK WHETHER THE CASING IS SUITABLE FOR RETREADING BUT IN PARTICULAR ALSO MAKE SURE THAT THE CASING IS IN A FIT STATE TO PROVIDE A RELIABLE LINK BETWEEN THE VEHICLE AND THE ROAD FOR THE ENTIRE NEW LIFE OF THE TYRE. ECONOMIC: Retread tyres typically cost far less than new tyres. Add on the cost-perkilometre benefits and the savings are even more significant. THE RETREAD PROCESS: (Left), following stringent safety checks and carcass preparation buffing to profile takes place. (Right), new tread compound is applied using the TYRE CORPORATION PLC controlled process. This is followed by curing, which ensures the new rubber is correctly vulcanised and produces the exact tread pattern and depth required. Finally, three further safety inspections are made to ensure the quality of the finished retread tyre. TITAN REMOULDS and the Environment Independent tests have shown that the manufacture of retread tyres generates far less CO² than that of new tyres. Retreading uses less natural resources – a typical TITAN REMOULD uses significantly less oil than an equivalent new tyre as well as reducing the demand for energy and other petrochemicals during the production process. Retread tyres also produce less waste. With a retread policy, operators can cut their tyre waste by 50 percent. At TYRE CORPORATION, all scrap casings and tyres are disposed of via registered agents approved by REDISA and wherever possible this waste is recycled. Furthermore, all granular residue and dust produced during the retread buffing process is collected and recycled. This waste is reprocessed into a diverse range of products, including material for road-building, playgrounds, industrial flooring etc. DATE: 1 JAN 2016 DATE: 1 JAN 2016
