Hard Times; Helping Hands
In an effort to assist you locally, Preble County non-profit and governmental agencies have collaborated
with the library to create a resource information website for those in need in the areas of Housing, Jobs,
Insurance, and Food: http://www.pcdl.lib.oh.us/
"Each month, Ohio's public libraries receive 2.22% of the total tax revenue that the state receives in that
month. Revenues for the public libraries were down in 2008 from 2007 by 1.7% for a loss of about 7
million dollars.”
In these hard times, libraries are seeing huge increases in their circulation and overall library
usage. Libraries are the best bargain for all Ohioans, because our books, DVDs, CDs, computer access and

November. According to
Librarian Michelle Laughlin,
it was a great success despite the bad weather that
decided to rear its ugly the

Member Jacob Booher, volunteered to teach our patrons how
to make dream catchers and
beaded necklaces in celebration
of Native American Heritage
Month. Anita and her family
provided all the supplies and
instructions. It was held on
what turned out to be one of
the nastiest days of November,
but we still had seven people
brave the weather. Everyone
made a dream catcher while at the library and was given
supplies to make another dream catcher at home. Everyone
really enjoyed themselves and asked if we would be doing it
again.”
The library extends a huge Thank You! to Anita and her family for offering the program and supplies for free. During
these trying economic times, it is generosity and creative
thinking like this that will help the library continue to provide
interesting programs to our patrons free of charge.
