The Schoolcraft Scholars Honors Program
would not exist were it not for the vision, drive,
and commitment of Dr. Faye Schuett, English
Professor Emeritus, and Founding Director of
the Honors Program. Dr. Schuett raised the
bar yet higher for hundreds of high-achieving
students and, as a result, they are better
equipped, better educated, and better prepared
to lead lives that will benefit and enhance the
communities to which they belong.
More people than can ever be counted are—and
will be—grateful to Dr. Schuett . . . though they

The Honors Program has helped to me grow in many aspects, from
academics to community service, as both have played a crucial role
in helping in my journey to self-discovery. I not only discovered what
my interests are within the classroom, but also my role as a citizen to
help the community. I have been blessed to be guided and supported
by the Honors Program, its wonderful faculty and inspiring students,
to continue to reach for my potential, while giving back to others.
In addition, I am grateful to have had their assistance through the
strenuous Jack Kent Cooke scholarship application. I would not be a

The Honors Program has been invaluable to me, not only through the
relationships I have built, but also through the many doors that have
been opened for me in both the community and academia. When I first
joined, I knew I wanted to make a positive impact on society, but wasn’t
sure how to go about doing it. The Honors Program provided me with
ways to accomplish my goals and guided me through an important part
of my life. The faculty also worked laboriously, yet enthusiastically, while
helping me through the Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship application process,
and I cannot thank them enough for their instrumental role in my being
awarded. Overall, the program has enriched my life in numerous ways
and helped me utilize much of my previously untapped potential.
