FINALLY, IYFFL 2015!
Practical Information
The IYFFL is a new unique
film festival for young
filmmakers between 14
and 26 years from Norway
and all over the world.
For the first time the film
festival in Langesund,
Southern Norway, wants
to support young film and
tv newcomers. It will be
held 11th to 15th of August
2015.
Screening locations
Our IYFFL is a film
event – all films of the
international competition
will be screened in a
stylish cinema in the
heart of Langesund, the
Sentrumsgården, Storgata
8.
We screen a wide range of
65 films from 21 countries,
most of the short films are
highly awarded and all of
them are made by talented
filmmakers. The IYFFL is
aimed for the film industry
as well as for the broad
public – of all ages! Notice:
The film screenings are
rated Age 14 +
The special film events
such as the Guest film and
Directors Talk or the Short
Film Slam will take place in
the cinema too.
It is also a fantastic
location for our opening
and closing ceremonies.
Meeting Point
We are very proud to
announce the Skougaards
Hus, Vaterlandsgate
14, Langesund as the
IYFFL festival meeting
point. It offers a perfect
atmosphere for talking
and eating, relaxing
and networking. In the
mornings the workshops
will take place in the
second floor. In the
evenings this is the place
to be – with Live Music
Bands and Entertainment/
Events.

Mark Pressdee
Byambasuren Davaa
Dr. Adama Ulrich
Mark Pressdee is a
Producer/Director/Writer
with over 15 years in
broadcast, with a long list
of credits for television
and drama, having had
work featured on BBC,
CH4 and MTV channels.
His award winning short
films have screened at
Cannes and Edinburgh,
most recently his multi
award winning rom com
Titanic Love, which follows
his trademark ‘off the wall’
comedy style. He lectures
Film at the NTI Birmingham
City University, U.K. Mark
is a Jury-member of the
IYFFL and will guide with
his charisma through
the special events of the
festival.
Byambasuren Davaa is
a Mongolian filmmaker
currently residing in Berlin,
Germany. After studying
at the Movie Academy in
Ulaanbaatar and working
with Mongolian National
Television, she moved to
Munich, Germany, to study
documentary film and
communication sciences at
the University of Television
and Film Munich. Her films
tell stories embedded
in the traditional life of
the nomads in Mongolia.
She was a 2005 Academy
Award nominee for
her film The Story of
the Weeping Camel.
Byambasuren is a Jurymember of the IYFFL
and will screen her latest
films at the GUEST FILM &
Directors Talk.
Dr. Adama Ulrich, born in
Berlin, Germany, studied
culture theory at the
Humboldt-University in
Berlin and received her
PhD in dramatics in 1993.
Until 1995 she learned her
journalistic skills at the
East German Broadcaster
Brandenburg. Adama works
as freelancer for TV and
Radio, particularly for the
French-German broadcaster
ARTE. Her curiosity to learn
more about other cultures,
lead her always to exciting
film expeditions in Africa,
Latin America and USA.
She lectures film skills
such as directing at several
institutions, f.eg. the FU
Berlin University. Adama is a
Jury-Member and will screen
her latest documentaries at
the Guest Film and Directors
Talk. In her workshop “The
Art of Directing” she will
lecture about the creative
relationship between
director and protagonists/
actors.
Sergey V. Aprelev
Mary Kate O Flanagan
Sergey V. Aprelev is based
in St.Petersburg, Russia
where he founded the
annual “The Sea Calls!”
Maritime Film Festival. He
is a freelance journalist
& film producer, author
and producer of several
documentary (naval) filmswinners and nominates
of the international
festivals. The Russian Navy
Commander worked with
the Hollywood movie “K-19
The Widowmaker”. He
brought understanding of
the submariners’ everyday
life and duties and helped
to generate a realistic
atmosphere. He worked
with leading Hollywood
movie makers like Kathryn
Bigelow, and prominent
actors (Harrison Ford,
Liam Neeson etc). Sergey
is a Jury-Member and will
give an insight in his work
as a producer of major
international films.
Mary Kate O Flanagan
works internationally,
helping to shape stories
for television and cinema.
She trained in teaching
screenwriting with David
Howard, author of The
Tools of Screenwriting
and How to Build a Great
Screenplay and Martin
Daniel, Professor of
Screenwriting at USC, L.A.
She designs and delivers
training in the craft of
screenwriting across
Europe and in Africa. In her
exciting Masterclasses she
will disclosure the secret
of storytelling for feature
and short films. Her
Short Film Slam will be an
unforgettable event!

After the screenings
the filmmakers will be
available for questions in a
Directors Talk.

Do you believe in your short film? Do you know audiences
will connect with it? Are you willing to put that to the test?
In The Short Film Slam, the first 2 minutes of each short film
will be played and then the audience will vote on whether
or not to watch the rest of it. Yes, it’s scary but you will learn
a lot about how to engage an audience – and how people
lose them. We are seeking short films nominated by the
filmmakers themselves. Your film can be from any year.
You are eligible to enter if your short is also programmed in
another strand.
The only requirements are:
- The whole film is not longer than 20 minutes
- If it is in a language other than English it should be
subtitled
- A member of your team is there to represent it (and to
bring it along on DVD).

WORKSHOPS
A Masterclass in
Screenwriting
The Art of Directing
“Grab your audience by
the throat as soon as you
possibly can and don’t let
them go until the very last
minute” – Billy Wilder.
In her lecture Adama Ulrich
will demonstrate Film and
TV directing techniques
and aestethics. She will
focus on how to create
a fruitful relationship
between director and
actors/protagonists.
It is the crucial part of
filmmaking. In exercises
with the camera and roleplaying the participants
will be able to practice
and definitely improve
their directing skills. The
workshop will take place
indoors and outdoors in
Langesund.
In this workshop Sergey
V. Aprelev will give an
insight in his experiences
as a producer of several
awarded documentaries
and his work with the

Daniel Loustaunau (23) was born in Mexico in
a big and dysfunctional family. He escaped to
Mexico City at 17 to study Film at the Centro

year of the Cinema course at Universidade
Lusófona, Lisbon. She has been involved with
cinema and the audiovisual universe since she
was 15 years old.

Xavier Havitov (25) is currently finishing his
bachelor degree in Television at Université
du Québec a Montréal. “Nicola is Late” is his
second short film and has been awarded and
nominated at several film festivals.

William Dinesen (18). His interest in film has
been around since his father showed him
an airplane scene from the movie North by
Northwest. Since then he has made plenty of
films, from school projects to home videos
and short films.

Adrian Kirk Ejsing (18) is currently studying
film and media at Ørestad High School. He is
especially inspired by the quirky and funny
things that comes with life, things which often
serves as foundation for his films.

London Film School’s MA in Filmmaking. She
has experienced a wealth of different mindsets while living in several countries, which
inform her storytelling through film.

“Momentum” is a film about
failure and success represented
by two intervening principles
embodied in men and women.
It shows how two young people
come together in an unexpected situation in their lives.
A beautiful girl guides a boy
through a wonderful forest,
where she seduces him at last.
He realizes that sometimes
dreams can come true.
The kiss is a highlight in many
films. In this one, the magic
moment is interrupted by
some annoying members of
the audience.

Alexander Bergmann (21) produced “Momentum” during a school project. It has since
been nominated and awarded on several
international film festivals, such as the Festival
de Cannes 2013.

Simon M. Hoffmann (18). While dreaming
of becoming an actor, Simon discovered his
passion for writing film scripts and short
stories. He has worked on over 20 films, which
won several awards, and he founded his own
film production company, Kemperly Film
Produktion.

Hanna Suni Johansen (18) a film and media
student from Lofoten, Norway, has made films
that have been screened at several festivals
around Europe.

whimsical but wistful fairy tale film made in
co-operation with puppet theatre students.

Kristine Rande (24) finished her bachelor

published three fantasy novels.

Jack Harney (16) is a second level student. He’s
a member of Trading Faces Film School in
Galway. He has acted in a popular TV series in
Ireland called Deception, playing “Rory”.

John Margetts (18) just finished his Leaving
Cert. He has been a member of Trading Faces
Film School for years and wants to keep

boy offers us a conscious and
subconscious perspective of
the space and people of his city,
ranging from the local politician
to university students, as well as
the neighbor tea maker.

Amil Shivji (25) is based in Dar es Salaam,
Tanzania, as a freelance filmmaker. In his
films he likes to challenge historical and
contemporary misrepresentations of the
African continent.

a victory. When Niklas enters

painter’s desire for his model
in a white canvas, which ultimately leads to an obsession
with the painting created.
Jesus woke up like this is a mocumentary about Jesus returning to
earth but this time wanting to be a
cool underground techno DJ instead
of a savior. Jesus who just wants to
play drum n’ bass but is caught up
in a religious commercialism and
the destructive dance floor lifestyle.

Ana Sofia Sousa (24) has a degree in Multimedia Arts and studied Cinema studies in Lisbon.
Currently, Ana Sofia Sousa is a freelancer in
the Editing and Camera Operation areas.

Lilly Z. Tembe (21) has been studying film
theoretically and practically for five years. Her
main ambition within film is to tell new stories
in new ways, with no limitations as to what is
and isn’t allowed in the cinematic space.

After college, a depressed
young woman has a quarter
life crisis. She starts seeing a
therapist who turns out to be
just as conventional as everyone else.
The biologically born girl Emilie
wishes is to be a boy, but sadly
her mother doesn’t wish the
same. We experience her
attempt to convince the world
that she’s trapped in the wrong
body.

Iver Jensen (18) has been making films, animation and fiction, since 2009 and is currently
studying Media and Communication at Hadsel
Videregående Skole, Norway.

Leah McKissock (26). During college, she
directed music videos for artists in Los Angeles
that ended up winning international film
competitions and airing on MTV. “Crazy Like
Me” is her debut short film.
DIRECTOR
Lucas Helth Postma (16) defines his short film
“Boy” as his biggest project so far. Before this
film, he has made music videos, promotion
and presentation videos.

evening. When one man goes
up to them he realizes that he
has met one of the girls before.
DIRECTOR
Katerina Pavlou (25) started her first film
education at 2010 at Women’s Folk High
School in Gothenburg. Meatwall is her debut
short film. It has been screened at the Festival
de Cannes 2015.
