Where & Description
Maillol Museum
Ben takes possession of the newly reopened Musée Maillol for the
first large-scale exhibition devoted to the artist in Paris. Bringing
together over 200 artworks principally from the artist’s own
personal collection, as well as private collections, this retrospective,
which features several previously unseen installations, provides the
public with an insight into the multiple and complex facets of this
iconoclastic, provocative and prolific artist, an advocate of the nonconformist and the alternative for over 50 years.
Rembrandt Intime
Jacquemart-André Museum
Through some twenty paintings and thirty graphic works, visitors
are taken into the world of the Dutch artist. Organized in three
chapters, the exhibition retraces chronologically all the major
stages of the painter’s artistic career, from his debut with biblical
and historical subjects to his years of triumphant international
recognition.

The Musée de la Vie Romantique presents an exhibition that offers
visitors the opportunity to witness the great experience of the
Salons of 1845 and 1846, which have made their mark in the history
of art criticism. Surrounded by approximately 100 paintings,
sculptures and engravings referred to by Baudelaire, visitors can

Orsay Museum
For its 30th anniversary, the Musée d’Orsay throws the spotlight on
the Second Empire, a period in France’s history that was rich in
artistic creativity and modernization. Best known for the
architectural town planning work of Haussmann, this period marks
a major change in the trajectory of French art. The Spectacular
Second Empire exhibition is presented thematically and includes the
representation of the authority of Napoleon III and the portrayal of
bourgeois society.
Petit Palais
Irish author Oscar Wilde wrote The Portrait of Dorian Grey and was
in love with the language of Molière. For the first time in France, an
exhibition in the grandes galeries of the Petit Palais pays homage to
him and presents manuscripts, rare editions, portraits and PreRaphaelite paintings relating to this scandalous figure of the literary
world.
Grand Palais
Georges Remi, better known as Hergé is considered to be the father
of the European comic-strip. The creator of Tintin sold some 250
million comic-strip books during his career and has been translated
into one hundred or so languages. This retrospective exhibition with
original plates is an opportunity to admire the work of the Belgian
artist, but also to find out more about Hergé the person, through
the many archive images and testimonies.
Grand Palais
The Grand Palais welcomes Mexico, 1900 – 1950 Diego Rivera, Frida
Kahlo, José Clemente Orozco, an exhibition of early 20th century
Mexican art. Since its independence from Spain in 1821, art in
Mexico has flourished along with a strong urge for modernization,
led by figures such as Frida Kahlo or Diego Rivera. Through a set of
works ranging from painting to sculpture, urban planning and
cinema, the exhibition encompasses the entire history of 20thcentury Mexico.
Quai Branly Museum
For its 10th anniversary, the Musée du Quai Branly pays tribute to
its founder Jacques Chirac. By tracing the career of this figure of
French politics, the exhibition relates the evolution of Europe’s
relations with non-Western civilizations. Through 50 key dates and
some 200 artworks and 200 pieces of documentary material,
spectators can follow the decisions of the former President of the
French Republic and their impact on the openness of Europe to
world cultures.

Myth
Philharmonie de Paris
The German composer is the focus of the exhibition Ludwig Van
Beethoven, The Myth at the Philharmonie de Paris. Beethoven, an
emblematic figure of 19th-century symphonic music, has had a
profound influence on the creative imagination of artists, whether
they be musicians, film makers or even painters. 250 works will be
presented to the public in the course of this exhibition that retraces
this legendary genius of classical music.
Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris
The show is a retrospective of the work of Bernard Buffet (1928–
1999), one of the most famous French painters of the 20th century,
but also one of the most contentious. In a choice of a hundred
paintings this exhibition takes a fresh look at an oeuvre which in fact
remains little known to the public at large.

Century The Tessin Collection
Musée Rodin
The exhibition Hell according to Rodin invites the public to take a
fresh look at an iconic work of art: The Gates of Hell. Over 170 works
– including 60 drawings that are rarely on public display, and
numerous sculptures restored for the exhibition – will immerse
visitors in the fascinating history of this masterpiece, which was so
influential in the development of sculpture and the arts. With these
mysterious, imposing doors that never open, Rodin presents a
spectacular view of Hell - feverish and tormented.
Museum of Decorative Arts
The exhibition traces the periods and forms of art that forged the
Bauhaus spirit: The Middle Ages and the construction of the
cathedrals, the arts of the Asian and Islamic worlds, and the British
Arts and Crafts movement that abolished the frontiers between art
and craftsmanship. Works illustrating these sources will create a
dialogue with historic Bauhaus pieces, but also with contemporary
counterparts, including works by Székély, Matthieu Mercier, Karen
Bisch, Sheila Hicks and Ulla von Brandenburg.
Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine
The exhibition all to the Beach, the birth of seaside resorts traces
the development of the beach as a popular leisure resort from the
first seaside resorts which opened in the 18th century for the
aristocracy, who began to frequent the seaside as well as the then
fashionable spa towns, for recreation and health to the 19th and 20th
centuries when seaside resorts became the first manifestation of
what is now the global tourist industry.
Louvre Museum
Although not officially bearing the title, Count Carl Gustaf Tessin
acted as Swedish ambassador in Paris from 1739 to 1741. Heavily in
debt on his return to Sweden, he was obliged to sell part of his
collection of paintings to King Fredrik I. In 1750 the count also had
to part with his collection of drawings. Organized in tandem with
the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, the exhibition takes a combined
chronological and thematic approach to his modus operandi and
provides an insight into the art market and Parisian taste in the mid18th century.

Louis Vuitton Foundation
The exhibition pays tribute to one of the greatest Art patron of the
early 20th century, Sergei Shchukin, the visionary Russian collector
of French modern art. Thanks to the generous contribution of the
Hermitage and the Pushkin State museum, the exhibition will offer
the opportunity to view a significant ensemble of 130 major pieces
by the Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and Modern masters, with
particular emphasis on the art of Monet, Cézanne, Gauguin,
Rousseau, Derain, Matisse and Picasso, alongside works from
Degas, Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec and Van Gogh.
Musée d’Art et d’Histoire du Judaisme
Arnold Schönberg was a multifaceted artist. He taught himself violin
and went on to become one of the most influential composers of
the twentieth century. He was also a self-taught draughtsman and
designer and, influenced by his friendship with the artist Richard
Gerstl, created an extensive body of visual art that deserves to be
better known. This exhibition at the Jewish Museum brings
together a large number of artworks and objects by Schönberg that
have never previously been seen in Paris.
Quai Branly Mueum
The Persona exhibition highlights the relationship that man has
always had with certain objects that he places almost on the same
level as a human being. Spanning primitive art, contemporary art
and high tech objects like robots, the content of the exhibition is
diverse, sometimes strange, sometimes disconcerting, but always
enthralling! A fascinating insight into the world of
anthropomorphism, ‘Persona’ questions and challenges the visitor.
Orsay Museum
How should we consider the work of Frédéric Bazille, who died in
combat in 1870 during the Franco-Prussian War aged just 28?
Although his early paintings are clearly those of a budding painter,
influenced by Realism and by his friend Monet, he nevertheless
went on to complete numerous masterpieces in which he gradually
asserted his unique talent. Organised both thematically and
chronologically, the exhibition places the works of Bazille amongst
those of his contemporaries like Delacroix, Courbet, Manet, Monet.
Palace of Versailles
As the political monarch he was, King Louis XIV took “grand
entertainment” to the height of its magnificence, making Versailles
a venue for celebrations and shows that were ever more grandiose,
extraordinary and fantastical. The exhibition aims to present the
variety of entertainment put on at the Court of Versailles, including
hunting, shows, comedies, operas, concerts and individual music
playing, walks, outdoor games and sport, other games, fires and
illuminations, over a fairly long period stretching from Louis XIV to
the Revolution.

Centre Pompidou
The Centre Pompidou will present a major retrospective of the work
of American artist Cy Twomly. The comprehensive showcase will be
structured around three major cycles – “Nine Discourses on
Commodus,” 1963, “Fifty Days at Iliam,” 1978, and “Coronation of
Sesostris,” 2000 – and will span the artist’s entire career, from his
first works in the early 1950s to his last paintings. “Cy Twombly” is
organized in close collaboration with the Cy Twombly Foundation
and its president, Nicola Del Roscio, as well as the Fondazione
Nicola Del Roscio in Gaeta, with the support of the artist’s son,
Alessandro Twombly.
Museum of Decorative Arts
The history of fashion is studded with a host of iconic inventions:
rhinegraves, the robe volante, the robe chemise, the chemise à la
grecque, women’s trousers, skirts for men, the female tuxedo, the
miniskirt, the “baggy” look and jeans, to list only a few. With a
selection of characteristic garments and fashion accessories,
portraits, caricatures, advertisements and a host of other objects,
the exhibition explores this history of fashion liberties and offences,
highlighting dress codes and moral values from the 14 th century to
today, from the royal courts to the street and magazines.

‘Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life’, which won an award at the Césars,
Joann Sfar has more than one string to his bow! This time, the artist

Picasso Museum
The "Picasso Giacometti" exhibition brings together the works of
two major artists from the twentieth century. The setting depicts
the similarities between both artists' directions, both in terms of
their personal history and their artistic work, but it is also a
comparison of their approaches to art. The exhibition introduces
viewers to a genuine dialogue between the two European masters.
Orangerie Museum
The 1930s was a turbulent period in the United States, notably due
to the Great Depression and the entry of the US into the Second
World War in 1941. This decade was marked by the desire of artists
to paint these new social realities. Featuring some fifty or so
paintings, the exhibition highlights the artistic revival of this littleknown period of American art.

of the 19th and 20th century, Ferdinand Hodler, Claude Monet and
Edvard Munch, this exhibition shows the development of painting
and artistic currents. From Impressionism with Monet to the
Expressionism of Munch and the Symbolism of Hodler: all three of
these artists have pushed the boundaries of painting.
Luxembourg Museum
Attached to the artistic current that seeks to render a faithful
reproduction of reality, the French painter, Henri Fantin-Latour, is
particularly known for his portraits and still life paintings. This
retrospective, the first exhibition devoted to Fantin-Latour since
1982, features some sixty or so paintings and thirty or so
lithographs and shows the main stages of the artist’s career.
