Accesstobasichealthcareisahumanright,assuchFHHHHandits
membershaveworkedtirelesslysinceitinceptiontobringhealthcare to
thosewithlimitedornoaccess.Ourmissionhasbeentobringqualitycare
tounderservedpopulationinapersonalandcompassionatemanner.Itis
withthismindsetthatweembarkedonaverybusycoursein2012.
In2012,FHHHcompletedconstructionoftheCarriesCentredeSante..The
clinic has 3 fully furnished and equipped examining rooms, a large well‐
stocked pharmacy, waiting room / registration area. We also have a
procedure room, which, will be use for minor surgery and as a delivery
room.Theclinicalsohasspacereservedforalaboratory.Eventuallyweaim
to add dental and ophthalmology suits to offer comprehensive care to the
region.FHHHclinicwillbestaffedbyanurseandeventuallybyadoctor.
Webelievethatcollaborationwithlikemindedorganizationsenableusto
increasetheservicesweareabletoprovidetocommunitiesinneed.We
havewelcomedandassistedmultiplemedicalmissiongroupsbyproviding
themwithafacilitytoseepatients,informationaboutpreferred
medications,andsharingourexperience.

Therehadnotbeen cholerainHaitiinmorethana
century.ItwasreintroducedinthecountrybyUN
peacekeepersfromNepalin2010.Thecholeraepidemic
sickenednearly600,000peopleandkilled7,000.

conductedmedicalclinicsatthe
Kakok/FHHHCliniclocatedin
KakokIleAVaches.Withthehelp
ofourpermanentHaitibasedstaff
headedbyournurseSuzie,wesaw
cover100patientsperday.Our
groupalsoprovidedcarefor1dayat
thepublicclinicontheislandinthe
townofMadameBernard.Our
volunteersandFHHHmemberswere
amazedbythenumberofpatients
seekingcareatthatcenteraswellas
thediversityofcasesandpathology
present.Thehighlightforour
volunteerswasourvisitatthel’oeuvre
St.FrancoisD’AssisseOrphanagerun
byaCanadiannuncalledSisterFlora.
Theyenjoyedandwerewarmly
welcomedbythechildren.Marcand
Jamesstartedasoccergamewithsome
oftheboys,whichwasheart warming.
Asduringallofourvisitsatthe

HospitalCenter,joinedtheirFHHH

AntonioJosephinaMEETandGREET
whichwasheldtorecruitvolunteers
andmembersinthefallof2012.
Werely100%onourvolunteersand
memberstocarryouttheworkwedo
orphanage,weexaminedsomeof
thechildrenandleftsome
medicationsfortheirsmall
pharmacy.Weweredelightedto
takeourcaretotheinhabitantsof
CayaloaverysmallislandoffofIle
aVacheswithapopulationof
1,000.Inasmallchurchwesaw
childrenandadultswithavariety
ofailments.Asduringallofour
medicalclinics,wedistributed
clothes,toysandtoiletries.

goingprocess.FHHHmembers
