Simply put, a beadlock is a mechanical fastening device that literally clamps
the tire’s bead onto the wheel rim. Once this is done, it is nearly impossible
for the tire to become unseated from the rim, otherwise known as de-beading. De-beading is a common problem for a wheel without a beadlock that is
subjected to hard cornering forces or impacts from big jump landings-when
the tire can simply peel itself from the rim, causing a sudden loss of pressure
and possible loss of control. Without a beadlock, only the tire bead’s tight fit
on the rim and air pressure serve to hold the tire in place on the wheel. Even
offroad/cross-country riders can benefit from beadlocks: should the tire go flat
from a puncture or sidewall cut, it will remain in place and not de-bead.

rear only, this wheel is usually used in allaround recreational applications and in
cross-country competition, including Grand
Nationals and desert events. Although the
ATV manufacturers installed 9” tires on
many popular sport-style ATVs, replacement tire selection is relatively limited.

8” BEADLOCK WHEELS
The most common size you’ll find, especially at the rear. Tire selection for this size
is plentiful. It’s a highly functional size and
is a common choice for motocross or stadium racing when mounted with a low-profile MX-style tire. This type of competitor
will often profit from a Beadlock on the
outside and an OMF Reinforcement Ring
on the inside of the wheel. This size is also
used in flat track and off-road competition,
but generally a larger size is preferred, depending on the event.

world! The Red Label is one of three levels
of strength in the Douglas lineup:
• Blue Label: Using a .125” thickness, this
is a good wheel for light recreational use
only, particularly in sand dunes.
• Block Label: Built with a .160” thickness,
this wheel is lighter than the Red Label
but is strong enough for racing in less
demanding events.
• Red Label: This wheel is .190” thick
and is considered the best choice for
high-performance riding and racing in
the toughest conditions. OMF uses this
wheel almost exclusively as the platform
for our “enhanced” wheels (those with
Beadlocks and/or Reinforcing Rings installed).
All Douglas Wheels are made from highstrength 6061 aluminum alloy that is heat
treated for maximum durability and uniform strength.

OMF’s Reinforcement Rings are designed with holes. While they do make the
ring slightly lighter, the main function of these holes is to keep debris such as
mud, water, sand and rocks from gening caught inside the wheel, which can
add weight and/or cause a severe out-of-balance condition.

WHEEL DEFINITIONS
Wheels are built in halves that come in two different shapes, commonly referred to as
a “bell’I and a II nose/I The Ilbell” shape creates the maximum amount of clearance inside the wheel for brake and/or steering parts. The outside of the wheel has a Ilnose’l
shape with a smaller drop center for ease of tire mounting. How is a wheel typically
described? let’s take a look at a specific model to find out:

A: 8 refers to the wheel diameter, measured from the tire bead seat.
B: This 8 refers to the wheel width1 measured from one inside bead to the opposite
inside bead.
C: 38 is the width of the inside half of the wheel (in inches), in this case in a “bell”
shape.
D: This 5N refers to the width of the outside half of the wheel, in this case in a “nose”
shape.
E: 4/11 0 describes the bolt pattern. It has 4 holes, equally spaced around a 110 millimeter diameter circle.
F: The .125 indicates the thickness of the material used in the wheel; in this case is
.125” thick.
G: This 1 OMM is the size of the bolt hole, in millimeters.
Many wheels also have an “offset,tl which is the placement of the center of the wheel
in relation to its total width. In the above example (reference C & D)1 the offset is 3+51
with the outside of the wheel (the Ilnose11) being two inches deeper than the inside
(“the bell”).

Swingarm skid plates were the products that got OMF off the ground way
back in 1982, and have been a backbone of our business in the two decodes since that time. This experience
has given us a deep understanding of
what works and what doesn’t, helping us to build a reputation for quality
that’s almost legendary. We simply offer the best skid plate line in business,
a line that now includes skid plates
for the chassis and engine as well
as the swingarm. We feel so strongly
about our skid plates, as a matter of
fad, that we even offer a 60-day limited warranty!
OMF Skid Plates are available for most
popular, current sport model ATVs,
including the Yamaha Banshee and
Warrior and all Honda TRX FourTrax
models. These plates utilize a modular
design, which means each plate-chassis, engine and swingarm-matches
up with each other and flows together for a clean fit and maximum underside protedion. Perhaps best of all, if
one of these components is damaged
beyand repair, it can be replaced separately; you don’t have to purchase a
complete set or one lang, expensive
skid plate as is the case with other
suppliers.
Every OMF Skid Plate is precision
crafted within our own facility from
3/16-in. SOS2-H32 aluminum which
has been hand-formed and then heliarc welded. Designed and manufactured for a precise fit as well as
incredible durability, each comes with
all necessary mounting hardware and
require no cutting or welding-just bolt
on and go!

that the stock fender I seat latch can work itself loose with age, or break its locating
pins during a tumble. OMF has the answer with its unique Seat Bracket Kits. Using either of two available kits will tighten your seat/fender assembly back to showroom fit
or inexpensively repair what can prove to be very costly crash damage. Designed for
easy use, even while wearing gloves. Both precision crafted kits come with all necessary mounting hardware and easy-to-follow installation instructions. They take only
moments to install and require no special tools or equipment, but will last a long, long
time.
