Scope and Contents Notes
The 25th Infantry Division Association Archives Collection offers a plethora of
military information concerning both official and personal matters from 1939 to the
present. Materials in this collection include primary information, publications,
photographs, maps, United States Army Operational Reports, an audio-tape, videotapes
and other miscellaneous information. The collection was established at the George C.
Marshall Foundation in 1995 and will continue to expand.
Four major categories provide to organization for the 25th Infantry Division
Association Archives. The first category includes boxes 1 through 6 and is comprised of
two sub-collections, photographs, maps, primary information, and publication materials
concerning the 25th Infantry Division during World War II. Boxes 7 through 9 contain
primary information, publications, photographs and maps pertinent to the 25 th Infantry
Division during the second major category which details the Korean War.
The third category of the archives contains material relevant to the 25th Infantry
Division during the Vietnam War. Boxes 10 through 19 contain United States Army
Operational Reports dating from 1 January 1966 to 28 February 1971, photographs,
maps, primary information, and publications including Tropic Lighting News. The fmal
category of the archives contained in boxes 20 through 24 includes post Vietnam
miscellaneous material and publications, such as the Indochina Chronology.

BiographicallHistorical Notes: The 25th Infantry Division was created from the
Hawaiian Division of the United States Army. Its history includes participation in World
War II, the occupation of Japan, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and
the "Uphold Democracy" deployment in Haiti. The Division is often referred to as
"Tropic Lightning."
Summary of Subject and Materials: The 25th Infantry Division Association of the
Unite States Army has donated materials chiefly concerning the Vietnam War but also
from World War II, the Korean War, and more recent activities of the division. Official
military reports and personal recollections of Vietnam make up the bulk of the collection.
other materials include maps, photographs, personal letters, academic papers, news
clippings, etc.
