JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Department: Budget Code: FLSA Class: Status Type: Reports To: Assistant Designer Product Development & Design 48 Non-‐ Exempt Full Time Senior Designer ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ This position is responsible for supporting the design team in all aspects of creating and executing the seasonal collection (from concept to final proto samples) as well as any special projects. Furthermore, this position will work with the designers as well as supporting the creation of initial pattern concepts in prints, yarn dyes, and graphics; creates seasonal color palette swatches for accounts and design team. Maintain fabric, trim and original store bought sample libraries; checks in new development samples, prepares line for presentations, tracks sample send outs for sales meetings and factory development along with working to establish color standards and ensure approvals are coordinated among different fabrics, yarns, trims and product categories Specific Responsibilities: • Manipulate and recolor prints using Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator and complete art matrix for tech packs. • Generates computer sketches and correct pattern, colors, graphics and trims. • Monitor development of preproduction samples in partnership with Product Manager • Develop and maintains fabric standard, graphic techniques, and sample libraries for all lines as well as tag, photograph and catalog line sample for presentations. • Ensure tracking of all samples as well as sample rack management/organization. • Sketching and editing cad boards as requested. • Helping with proto packages; detail sketches and stitching instructions. • Support the Designer in measuring and commenting on development samples/production samples. Job Competencies: • Working knowledge of garment construction, textiles, and current finishing techniques and processes. • Artistic hand, strong sense of color and style • Strong critical thinking and exercise swift problem solving skills • Demonstrate strong verbal, organization and written communication skills • Meticulous attention to detail and follow through in execution. • Strong team player who can also work independently and in a fast paced environment • A positive, outgoing, high energy personality that is entrepreneurial • A multi-‐tasker; proactively seeks out opportunities to support the team with a can-‐do and follow-‐ through attitude • Timely sense of trends and market encompassing color, fabrics, silhouettes, and graphics. • Knowledge of proto packages and working with overseas partners. • Graphic experience is a plus Required Skills: • Minimum AA Degree in Design/Fashion Merchandising or equivalent experience. • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel and Mac. • 1-‐3 years design experience.
