FILTER CASSETTE CONFIGURATIONS
Filter Cassette Configurations
37mm 2-Piece Cassette Configuration
2-piece cassettes are advantageous when only “closed faced” sampling
is required. This is because during sampling, contaminants will cling to the
walls of the cassette from electrostatic forces. With approximately 35%
less surface area in a 2-piece cassette vs a 3-piece cassette, there is
less surface area for contaminants to cling to and thus more contaminant
where it should be — on the filter membrane.
37mm 3-Piece Cassette Configuration
3-piece cassettes provide flexibility because they can be used for both
“open face” and “closed face” sampling as well as to connect to cyclones.
The main disadvantage would be that 3-piece cassettes have more static
charge than 2-piece cassettes resulting in more potential for sample loss.
25mm 3-Piece Asbestos Style Cassette Configuration
25mm 3-piece asbestos style cassettes feature a 50mm long cowl
and can be used for both “open face” and “closed face” sampling.
These housings are available with a static conductive cowl or in a clear
styrene material.
The term “closed faced” sampling refers to using a 37mm cassette with the inlet in place and only the
plugs removed. Alternatively, “open faced” sampling refers to using a 3-piece cassette and removing
the inlet piece, thus creating an “open face”.

PRELOADED FILTER CASSETTES
37mm Match-Weighted Cassettes
37mm Pre-Weighted Cassettes
Gravimetric analysis samples require filters to be weighed
both before and after sampling to determine the amount
of contaminate collected. Zefon match-weighed cassettes
eliminate the need for weighing filters before sampling by
providing 2 filters which are matched in weight. The top filter
collects particulate and the bottom filter serves as a control.
After sampling, both filters are weighed and the difference in
weight equals the amount of contaminate collected.
Features:
• 2 or 3 piece housing
• Preloaded, ready to use
• Each cassette labeled with serial number
• Colour coded to indicate filter type
• 5 decimal weight accuracy (.00001g)
• Use of pure homopolymer PVC filters provides excellent
weight stability
• PVC filter specially designed with no silica and low ash
properties
Zefon’s advanced manufacturing process occurs under strict
environmental controls to ensure weight reproducibility and
numerous quality checks ensure consistent weights.
Features:
• Each cassette is labeled with a serial number
• Colour coded to indicate filter type
• Preloaded, ready to use

Gravimetric analysis samples require filters to be weighed
both before and after sampling to determine the amount of

the inconvenience of pre-weighing filters by providing the filter
weight on each cassette prior to sampling.
Zefon begins the process of manufacturing pre-weighed
cassettes by letting each filter equilibrate to the environmental
conditions of 68° F and 50% relative humidity. Filters are
then weighed using advanced microbalance equipment
which records the weight. After reading the weight, filters are
removed, placed into cassettes, and sealed with a label bearing
the weight and a unique serial number.

The weight tolerance of match weighed filters references
the maximum difference in weight from the test filter and
the control filter. A stated tolerance of 50μg means that
the control filter may differ in weight no more than 50μg
from the test filter. This is important to know during post
sample weighing as the weight tolerance of the 2 filters
needs to be considered when calculating results.
During manufacture, filters with matched weights (within
the given tolerance) are inserted into the cassette in
random order. Thus, it is possible for the control filter to
weigh more than the test filter before sampling (within
the given tolerance). If the control filter still weighs more
after sampling, a sample likely was not collected. Check
your equipment for proper operation and pump flow.

Environmental conditions can have a significant effect
on filter weight readings. When using Zefon preweighed cassettes, it is important that the post sample
weighing is performed under the same environmental
conditions used at the Zefon factory. Those conditions
are set at a temperature of 68°F (± 1.0°F) and a relative
humidity of 50% (± 1%).

PRELOADED FILTER CASSETTES
Air-O-Cell® Bioaerosol Cassettes
The Air-0-Cell® is a unique sampling cassette designed for the
rapid collection of a wide range of both viable and non-viable
aero-allergens including mold spores, pollen, insect parts, skin
cells, fibers and inorganic particulates.
Features:
• Industry proven & accepted
• Independently validated
• Laboratory preferred, easy
to analyze
• Proven results
• No sample loss during
shipping & handling
• Pre-loaded, no slides to prepare
The Air-O-Cell® operates on the principle of inertial impaction.
Particulate-laden air is accelerated as it is drawn through the
cassette’s tapered inlet slit and directed towards a slide containing
the collection media, where the particles become impacted and
the air flow continues out the exit orifice. The adhesive nature
of the collection media prevents the collected particulate from
blurring or washing off during the staining process and eliminates
sample loss from vibration during handling and shipment.
After sampling is completed,
the cassettes are sent to
a laboratory where direct
microscopic analysis can
be immediately performed.
The collection media is
compatible with a wide
range of biological stains
and refractive index oils,
allowing direct qualitative
and quantitative analysis
of organic and inorganic
particulates.
Air-O-Cell® can be used with any standard off-the-shelf sampling
pump capable of drawing 15 LPM open flow, including the
Zefon Bio-Pump®, a convenient battery-powered hand-held
pump for ease of sampling.

Universal Optical and SEM Particle Analysis
As the leader in air sampling cassette technology, Zefon
International has developed the Air-O-Cell
Collector for SEM Identification
(CSI) which allows for analysis by
both optical and scanning electron
microscopy (SEM) on the
exact same air sample.
Like never before, the
unique Air-O-Cell CSI media
brings the advantages and
precision of SEM particle
analysis to indoor air quality
investigations.
The new Air-O-Cell CSI has significant advantages over the
existing Air-O-Cell media and all other collection devices:
• The sample can be examined and re-examined by both
optical and electron microscopy in any order without
significant particle loss or complex sample preparation
• The high chemical stability, clarity, and ultra-smooth surface
of the collection media enables a wide range of chemical,
microbiological, and elemental analysis techniques to be
employed using both optical and electron microscopy
analysis
• The unique low carbon X-ray background is specifically
designed to enable the differentiation of common carbon
containing indoor air quality particles (soot, rubber
particles, fibers, etc.) in addition to inorganic contaminants
Universal Microscopy Analysis:
The high optical clarity, smooth surface, and low carbon X-ray
background of the CSI media combine to provide both superior
optical and electron beam image quality. The unique chemical
resistance and low volatility of the media allows biological
staining and optical analysis, and then reanalysis by electron
microscopy.

Via-Cell Bioaerosol Sampling
Cassette
Bio-Pump Plus
The Zefon Bio-Pump® Plus is the smallest and lightest
portable battery powered IAQ sampling pump available.
It provides the simplest and most convenient way to
sample with Air-O-Cell® and Via-Cell® cassettes at a
flow rate of 15LPM.
The Via-Cell bioaerosol sampling cassette
is designed to collect both viable and
non-viable bioaerosols, maintain
viability of the viable mold spores,
and prevent growth during transport
to the laboratory. Sampling with the
Via-Cell® is very similar to its sister
product Air-O-Cell®. Simply connect
it to any pump calibrated to 15LPM
and run your sample. The key to the
Via-Cell® is that the media used for
collection maintains viability of spores and
allows several analysis options.
One Sample, Multiple Analysis Options
Culturable Sampling:
The Via-Cell® sampler is the perfect tool for collecting viable
organisms and culturing them on agar plates. Simply dilute the
media in sterile water and transfer to a culture plate.
PCR Analysis:
The Via-Cell® utilizes a water soluable collection media which
is ideal for PCR and other chemical types of analysis. Once the
sample is diluted in water, it can be transferred most anywhere.
Direct Microscopy:
Samples collected using the Via-Cell® sampler may be “prescreened” using direct microscopy methods, which allows the
analyst to decide if additional analysis techniques are needed,
which may include culturing or standard direct microscopy
analysis.

(99.97% pure silver) and are available with particle retention
ratings of 0.45 or 0.8 microns. Silver metal membranes are
used in a variety of filtration applications, and their ability to
withstand extreme chemical and thermal stress makes them
ideal for applications involving aggressive fluids and/or high
temperatures.
Features:
• 99.97% pure silver
• High temperature resistance
• High chemical resistance
• Economical - Can be cleaned & reused
• Smooth surface for particle capture and easy observation
Silver membranes are composed entirely of pure metallic
silver. They combine excellent chemical resistance and high
temperature characteristics with an absolute retention range
from 0.2 µm to 5 µm.
Although silver membranes are used in a large number
and variety of applications, their unique chemical and
thermal stability is especially valuable for those applications
involving aggressive fluids and/or high temperatures. They
are ideal collection media for analysis of crystalline silica
by X-ray diffraction and for analysis of organic materials by
other instrumentation techniques, such as the analysis of
polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH).
Typical Applications
• Collection and analysis of coke oven emissions, where
the silver membrane is used directly to collect coal tar
pitch volatiles (See NIOSH Manual of Analytical Methods)
• Collection and analysis of polyaromatic hydrocarbons
using microanalysis techniques on the gases
evapourated from the membrane
• Analysis of airborne silica in foundries, glass plants,
quarries, mines, ceramic manufacturing, etc. requires
collection of an air sample on a polymeric membrane,
then transfer of the sample to a silver membrane for X-ray
diffraction (See OSHA)
• Collection and analysis of airborne asbestos fibers by
X-ray diffraction
• Collection and analysis of carbon and carbon black
• Collection and analysis of fly ash directly from smoke
stacks where high temperature stability of the membrane
is required

CYCLONES, IMPINGERS, & SORBENT TUBES
Gemini Twin Port Sorbent Tube
Sampler
Zefon’s Gemini Twin-Port Sorbent Tube Sampler
can be used with the Escort ELF or just about
any other sampling pump able to pull a flow
rate of 1.5LPM at 25” of water back pressure. It
offers increased flexibility and control in gathering
samples through sorbent tubes. If air is being
sampled for two or more contaminants, the
Gemini can draw samples at independent flow
rates through tubes containing different sorbents.
In situations where a single contaminant is being sampled,
sampling on two tubes of the same type can be done
simultaneously at different flow rates. This type of sampling
protects against breakthrough which occurs when a tube’s
sampling capacity is exceeded because the concentration of
a contaminant is higher than anticipated. Duplicate sampling at
the same flow rate can also be done to achieve better results.
Features:
• Valved mechanism allows flow control down to .001 LPM
• Control the flow rate of each port independently
• Includes tube covers to fit both large and small tube sizes

OSHA Versatile Sampler (OVS) Tubes
SKC OVS Tubes contain a filter to trap aerosols and a two-section sorbent bed to adsorb vapours in one specially constructed glass
tube that eliminates filter cassette and tube sampling trains. Only cleaned and verified materials are used in OVS Tubes to ensure low
background interference. A flow rate of 1 L/min provided by a personal sample pump is used to obtain volumes ranging from 60 to 480 L.
Samples are solvent extracted and analyzed by GC or HPLC with detector.

Specialty Tube Holders
OVS Tube Holder
Low-volume PUF Tube Holder
OSHA Versatile Sampler (OVS) Tubes are typically
used at a higher flow rate (1.0 L/min) and are suitable
for use with personal sample pumps. The special
OVS Tube Holder is designed to accommodate
the 13-mm diameter of SKC OVS Tubes, provide a
convenient clip to attach tube in the breathing zone,
and to protect the tube during sampling.
Low-volume PUF tubes are typically used at a flow
rate higher than standard sorbent tubes (1 to 5 L/
min) and are suitable for use with personal sample
pumps. Therefore, a special tube holder is used in
place of the Adjustable Low Flow Holder. The Lowvolume PUF Tube Holder is also specially designed
to accommodate the large diameter (22 mm) and

Vac-U-Chamber
The Vac-U-Chamber is a rigid air sample box that allows sample bags to be filled directly by using negative pressure provided by most personal
air sampling pumps. Because the sample does not pass through the pump, both sample and pump contamination are eliminated. All surfaces
in contact with the sample are constructed of inert materials. The Vac-U-Chamber’s rigid walls will not collapse under vacuum conditions.
Multiple applications
• US EPA Method 18 (VOCs - industrial sources)
• US EPA 0040 (POHCs - stationary sources)
• Soil gas/vapour sampling (US EPA SOP #2042, ASTM
D5314-92)
• Indoor air remediation system monitoring petroleum
constituents (US EPA SOPs #2102, 2103, and 2104)
• Groundwater testing
• Stack sampling
• Ventilation studies
• Hazmat testing

Impingers
Glass Midget Impingers
SKC glass midget impingers have graduations that are accurate to within ± 0.5 mL for each increment. SKC glass impingers have serial
numbers on both sections to assist with sample identification and to ensure proper part matching.
Standard Midget Impinger has a 25-mL capacity with graduations in 5-mL increments. The nozzle is precisely placed to ensure proper
collection.
Special Midget Impinger with Fritted Nozzle is a modified standard midget with a special fritted nozzle to increase contact between the
air sample and the liquid. Many NIOSH and OSHA procedures call for this type of bubbler impinger.
Spill-resistant Midget Impinger is constructed to prevent liquid from spilling should it be tipped or turned upside down. A special outlet
side arm extends midway down with sufficient capacity above to handle all the liquid. The spill-resistant impinger is available with standard
or fitted nozzle.

Particulate Sampling Filters
Filter Selection Guide
Understanding the Difference Between Membrane and Depth Filters
Membrane Filters — Membrane filters are made typically of MCE, PVC, copolymers, polycarbonate, silver, gelatin, or PTFE. They are
precision cast into sheets, therefore, the pores are consistent and pore size ratings are more precise. During sampling, small particles
pass through the pores in membrane filters leaving larger particles on the surface of the filter. A high amount of particles on the surface
of a membrane filter can clog the pores causing particles that would normally pass through to be retained on the surface such as what
commonly occurs during asbestos sampling.
Depth Filters — Depth filters are constructed usually of fibrous materials such as glass or quartz. The multiple layers of randomLy
oriented fibers in depth filters cause their pore size to be inconsistent and undefined, therefore, a pore size rating for a depth filter is
typically approximate (nominal). Particles collected with depth filters are captured within the pathways of the fibrous material. Depth filters
are typically more economical and tolerate higher temperatures.

SAMPLING MEDIA
Mixed Cellulose Ester Membranes
The standard filter for most aerosol sampling in industrial hygiene applications, Mixed Cellulose Ester (MCE or MEC) Membrane Filters
are comprised of pure, biologically inert mixtures of cellulose acetate and cellulose nitrate. MCE membranes are naturally low in metal
background and are compatible with dilute bases and acids and aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons. MCE filters are hydrophilic, wet
easily with water, and are autoclavable.

BestCheck Asbestos Cassettes
SKC BestChek Cassettes — Know the Difference
Only from SKC — cassettes that meet or exceed NIOSH, OSHA, and ASTM standards in Count, Clearing, Conductivity, Collection
Area, and Construction (the 5 C’s of asbestos cassettes)
Count: OSHA Method ID-160 allows up to 4 fibers per 100 fields and NIOSH 7400 permits up to 5 fibers per 100 fields average fiber
background.
Average background fiber count for SKC BestChek filters is less than 4 fibers per 100 fields.
Clearing: OSHA ID-160 and NIOSH 7400 require filter material to be cleared during sample preparation so that samples have a
smooth (non-grainy) background for accurate analysis. Both methods specify phase contrast microscopy (PCM) analysis.
SKC BestChek filter material clears thoroughly to meet method specifications and is suitable for PCM analysis.
Conductivity: OSHA ID-160 and NIOSH 7400 require the use of conductive cassette material. Conductivity is a function of the
amount of carbon black contained in cassette material. ASTM Standard Test Methods D1603 and ASTM D257 provide for the
determination of carbon black content and methods for testing conductance of materials.
SKC BestChek cassette plastic contains over 18% carbon black for proper conductivity as tested using ASTM
methods.
Collection Area: OSHA ID-160 and NIOSH 7400 specify a consistent effective collection area of 385 mm2.
The inside diameter of SKC BestChek cassettes vary by only ± 5 mm2 for consistent collection area and minimized
error.
Construction: OSHA and NIOSH recommend leak-free cassettes for accurate air sampling.
SKC BestChek Asbestos Cassettes are certified leak-free. All cassette parts are manufactured with close tolerances
and are vacuum and pressure tested for leakage.

Particle Size-Selective Sampling
The concept of size-selective sampling of industrial aerosols is based on the measurement of particles that are associated with a specific
human health effect, i.e., how deeply particles penetrate into the respiratory tract. ACGIH recommends that particle size-selective
threshold limit values (TLVs) be expressed in three forms:
1. Inhalable (100 µm 50% cut-point), hazardous when deposited anywhere in the respiratory tract
2. T
horacic (10 µm 50% cut-point), hazardous when deposited anywhere in the lung airways and the gas exchange regions
3. Respirable (4 µm 50% cut-point), hazardous when deposited in the gas exchange regions of the lungs
PM2.5 and PM10 sampling according to EPA regulations determines compliance with ambient air quality standards and reveals information
on particle sources and their effect on the environment and public health.

• The only personal impactor that efficiently samples fine and ultrafine
particles simultaneously
• Maintains high collection efficiency even at high particle concentrations
Optimized at 9 L/min flow rate with low pressure drop for 24-hr sampling
• Improves analytical sensitivity
• Minimizes non-detectable samples
Preserves unstable compounds
• Chemically inert collection substrate
• No impaction grease to contaminate sample
Minimal particle bounce and internal wall losses
Suitable for indoor and outdoor sampling**
Size-fractionated samples can be analyzed
gravimetrically, chemically, and microscopically
Small and lightweight
• Suitable for personal or area sampling
The patented† personal-size Sioutas Cascade Impactor* separates and collects airborne particles in five size ranges: > 2.5 µm, 1.0 to
2.5 µm, 0.50 to 1.0 µm, 0.25 to 0.50 µm, and < 0.25 µm. When used with PTFE filters, the Sioutas Impactor is highly efficient at collecting
particles without the use of impaction grease or substrate coatings and at retaining unstable compounds for size-fractionated chemical
analysis.
Use the Sioutas Impactor with the Leland Legacy Sample Pump at 9 L/min to ensure precise particle separation at the specified cutpoints. Particles above each cut-point are collected on a 25-mm filter in the appropriate stage with particles below 0.25 µm collecting
on the 37-mm after-filter. The small, lightweight Sioutas Impactor simply clips to a worker’s collar or lapel for personal sampling and is
suitable for area sampling.

Conductive plastic is safe for underground mine use
The Multiple-inlet GS-3 Cyclone
The GS-3 Cyclone is a 10-mm lightweight conductive plastic unit used with a standard three-piece cassette with filter for the collection
of respirable dust particles. The GS-3 Cyclone’s removable cassette adapter fits securely into the middle ring of the filter cassette during
sampling. Designed to meet the ACGIH/ISO/CEN respirable curve, the GS-3 Cyclone has a 50% cut-point of 4 µm (bias within ISO/
NIOSH requirements) at 2.75 L/min* or 3.5 µm at 3.7 L/min† for alternate applications.
GS-3 Cyclone Superior Performance
With low mean bias and higher flow rate requirements, the GS-3 Cyclone provides better sampling accuracy when compared to the
performance of other cyclones used for respirable dust collection. Furthermore, the multiple-inlet GS-3 Cyclone overcomes sampling

SIZE-SELECTIVE PARTICULATE SAMPLERS
Respirable Dust Aluminum Cyclone
The SKC Aluminum Cyclone is a lightweight respirable dust sampler that is used by inserting it into the middle ring of an open-face threepiece cassette loaded with an appropriate filter. The cyclone separates dust particles according to size. Respirable particles collect on the
filter and larger particles deposit on the inner walls or fall into the grit pot to be discarded.
Meets ACGIH/ISO/CEN respirable criteria
• 4 µm 50% cut-point at a 2.5 L/min flow rate*
• 3.5 µm 50% cut-point at a 2.8 L/min flow rate† for alternate
applications
Eliminates adverse electrostatic effects
Small and lightweight
• 6.6 x 3.8 cm (2.6 x 1.5 in)
• Available in 25 or 37 mm
Specified in NIOSH Method 7500 for silica and NIOSH 0600 for
respirable particulates
Open-face 3-piece cassette provides more even particle deposition
on filter
ACGIH, NIOSH, ISO, and the European Standard
Committee (CEN) specify a respirable collection efficiency
curve with a median cut-point of 4.0 µm. A leading aerosol
research organization calibrated the SKC Aluminum
Cyclone and carefully evaluated the results for bias over the
entire ACGIH/ISO/CEN respirable curve. Results showed
that using the cyclone at a flow rate of 2.5 L/min* provided
the optimum match to the respirable convention curve.
The SKC Aluminum Cyclone is specified in NIOSH 0600
for Particulates Not Otherwise Regulated (Respirable) and
NIOSH 7500 for Silica.
* As previously published, a flow rate of 2.6 L/min will yield a 4 µm
50% cut-point, however, a 2.5 L/min flow rate will provide a better
match over the entire curve.
†Determined using experimental data obtained at flows from 2.0 to 4.0
L/min
SKC Aluminum Cyclone
Available in 25 or 37 mm, the SKC Aluminum Cyclone provides sharp size selection of the respirable fraction at 4 µm. The

Button Aerosol Sampler
Closely follows the ACGIH/ISO sampling criteria for inhalable
particulate mass at 4 L/min
Curved Stainless Steel Sampling Inlet
Low sensitivity to wind direction and velocity
Reduces electrostatic effects
Minimally affected by orientation
Small and lightweight
Autoclavable
Reduces oversampling of very large particles
Suitable for collecting bioaerosols for viable or non-viable analysis
Ideal for personal and area sampling
The patented* reusable SKC Button Aerosol Sampler is a filter sampler with a porous curved-surface inlet designed to improve the
collection characteristics of inhalable dust (< 100 µm aerodynamic diameter), including bioaerosols for viable or non-viable analysis. The
conductive stainless steel inlet reduces electrostatic effects and contains evenly spaced holes that act as sampling orifices for multidirectional sampling and low sensitivity to wind direction and velocity. The proximity of the filter to the inlet minimizes transmission losses
and provides equal distribution of particle loading and low intersample variation. The Button Sampler follows closely the ACGIH/ISO
sampling criteria for inhalable particulate mass at 4 L/min. A convenient conductive plastic transport case is available for shipping the filter
samples to a laboratory for analysis.
Abrasive Blasting Sampler for Heavy Metals
Abrasive blasting in confined spaces produces grit that rebounds at high velocity. When sampling with traditional cassette samplers,
these particles can damage the filter and cause oversampling. SKC has combined a specially designed protective shield with the Button
Sampler to create an efficient sampler of heavy metals in abrasive blasting environments. The curved protective shield fits over the Button
Sampler inlet and has been proven to prevent filter damage that may cause overestimation of actual airborne concentration of inhalable
contaminants. The SKC Abrasive Blasting Sampler has been used to monitor the personal exposure of workers performing abrasive
blasting at four U.S. military facilities. The sampler reliably withstood blasting operations that included very high particle concentrations
and provided recoverable samples and meaningful exposure information.

Personal Environmental Monitor
Referenced in EPA Method IP-10A†
• For particles in indoor air
Small and unobtrusive
• Can be connected to a personal sample pump and worn in the breathing zone
Suitable for ACGIH thoracic TLVs
• Including sulfuric acid and cotton dust as thoracic particulate matter with 10 µm PEM
The Personal Environmental Monitor (PEM) is a small, lightweight personal impaction sampling device used with a personal sample pump
to provide effective personal sampling of PM10 and PM2.5 in indoor air. Personal exposure is determined through gravimetric analysis for
particle mass and chemical analysis for specific compounds.
How the PEM Works
The PEM consists of three major parts: cap, impaction ring assembly, and base with after-filter. When used with a personal sampling
pump at the required flow rate, aerosol is accelerated through a number of nozzles in the cap. Through inertia, particles larger than the
50% cut-point of the sampler impact onto a greased impaction ring and can be discarded after sampling. Particles smaller than the 50%
cut-point pass through the impactor and collect on a 37-mm after-filter. There are six models of PEM available for the collection of PM10
or PM2.5 at three different flow rates.

Parallel Particle Impactors
The PPI 4 in 1 Advantage
Only the patented* SKC Parallel Particle Impactor (PPI) has the
power of 4 impactors in 1 small sampler to provide the closest
match to the ACGIH/ISO/CEN thoracic or respirable conventions.
A job no single personal impactor can do alone!
Disposable pre-oiled porous plastic impaction substrates reduce
negative effects of particle buildup and bounce on sample accuracy
by firmLy trapping larger particles. Unlike other samplers, SKC PPI
sampling efficiency is not dependent on collected particle type.

BIOAEROSOL SAMPLERS
The BioSampler
The SKC BioSampler is a bioaerosol collection device resembling an impinger. Specific features are
incorporated into this patented* design to allow high and constant collection efficiency of bioaerosols into
liquid for sample times up to eight hours.
Features:
• Patented* swirling liquid method minimizes re-aerosolization, reduces particle bounce, and preserves
microorganism integrity and viability
• Can be used with non-evapourating collection liquids such as ViaTrap mineral oil that have a viscosity
much higher than water
• When used with ViaTrap, collection efficiency stays constant over an 8 hour sampling period
• All-glass construction allows easy cleaning, sterilizing, autoclaving, and reuse
• A variety of analyses can be used
Sampling with the BioSampler
Designed to operate with a sonic flow pump such as the Vac-U-Go Sampler, the BioSampler’s three tangential
nozzles act as critical (sonic) orifices, each permitting 4.2 L/min of ambient air to pass through for a total flow
rate of approximately 12.5 L/min.
