Waratah GalStar Posts offer a range of sizes, strengths and
protective coatings to suit the particular requirements of just about
any fencing job you’ve got in mind.
Made in Australia from higher grades of carbon and manganese
steel, Waratah GalStar Posts provide a higher tensile strength
and greater durability than many imitations and imports.
There is a choice of two coatings; a state-of-the-art
electrogalvanized zinc coating to satisfy the demands of most
rural fencing requirements, or a heavy duty, hot-dipped
galvanized zinc coating for extreme corrosive environments.
All Waratah GalStar Posts are hole punched and, compared
to timber alternatives, are economically priced, easier to install,

DROPPERS
WARATAH FENCE DROPPERS
®
Waratah Fence Droppers are made with strong high tensile
steel and are heavily galvanized for longer life. The high
strength ‘V’ section gives added strength to fences without
adding undue drag on the wires. They are fire resistant,
termite and rot proof.
Waratah Fence Droppers effectively transfer sudden impact
loading from one or two wires across the whole fence
structure to maintain its integrity. At the same time they
strengthen the entire fence while adding a good visual barrier
at approximately one third the cost of Waratah GalStar Posts.

The Waratah EzySlot steel strainer post is a multiple-use fence support system that is
economical to erect and capable of withstanding large strains. Requiring little digging,
the Waratah EzySlot post has a three-way stay slot that makes it ideal for either a single
stayed end, intermediate or corner assembly. Made from light-weight, strong, high-grade
steel, it can be safely lifted and handled by one person, thereby providing significant
labour saving installation costs. What’s more, when used with the Waratah Complete
Strainer kit or in combination with the Waratah Adjusta-stay, these posts can be
installed in a third of the time of conventional strainer systems. With a hot-dipped,
galvanized finish to ensure a long, maintenance-free life, Waratah EzySlot posts can

The Waratah H-Box strainer kit consists of a steel wire rope
with a loop at one end and a specialised Gripple.® It is designed
as an alternative to wire brace support in a H-box strainer
assembly. Quicker, simpler and safer than wire straining methods,
the H-Box strainer can be easily tensioned and retensioned.
Installation is up to 75% faster than traditional systems, which
means that the Waratah H-Box strainer can significantly reduce
labour costs. Its retensioning capability also makes it one of the
most versatile products available for fence installation and
maintenance.

®

Waratah Longlife Stocktite is a versatile hinged joint style
prefabricated fencing system that is fast to erect, and forms
a strong and economical stock barrier. The hinged joint
construction which connects both vertical and horizontal line
wires is more economical than ring joint alternatives.
It provides a more advanced technology too, since the hinge
acts as a suspension system, flexing with stock pressures then
returning the fence to its original position.
There is a range of six Waratah Stocktite fence systems
designed for specific grazing applications covering boundary,
laneway and cell grazing operations. All Waratah Stocktite
fencing systems are protected with Waratah Longlife coating
technology.
The Waratah 2.80mm high tensile top and bottom line wires
give you additional strength and the option of not having to
incorporate extra wires for added support (selvage wires).
This feature means faster construction and significant cost

This fencing wire combines high tensile horizontal (line) wires with vertical
soft wire “pickets.” These vertical wires are permanently but flexibly joined
to the line wires at either 15cm or 30cm centres. All line wires have a
minimum breaking load of 3.7kN. Each horizontal wire comes complete
with a Waratah Gripple® wire joiner for easy joining and retensioning.
Bottom line wires and bottom picket wires are heavily galvanized.
The hinged joints are engineered to withstand high stock pressure.

WARATAH BARBED WIRE
®
Waratah offers two types of barbed wire, high tensile and Iowa.
Waratah high tensile barbed wire is recommended for use in
conjunction with other high tensile wires such as Waratah
Hinged Joint, and where wider post spacings are used.
Waratah Iowa barbed wire is usually used in conjunction with
other soft/plain wires such as in netting fences and in areas
considered to be at risk from bush fires.
Both types of wire feature the Waratah Longlife anticorrosive
protection with its lifetime guarantee.* In addition, Waratah Iowa
is also available with standard galvanized protection.

6000HA ÷ 80 = 100% PRODUCTIVITY POTENTIAL
Mike Martin has found that strategic, quality fencing is a key factor in
maximising productivity and streamlining property management.
On his 6000ha property, 30 kilometres east of Coolah, Mike
runs 9500 breeding ewes and 1000 breeding cows plus
followers. In a good year he will sell 500 steer vealers and
300 female surplus vealers.
With markets to be met and weights to be gained, Mike is a not a firm
believer in formal benchmarking, but adds: “If you have a close eye on
things and you’re comparing the way you run your operation with
how others operate, then that’s my sort of benchmarking.”
He is fortunate to have his brother, Anthony, farming nearby.
The two regularly compare yields, pasture production and
management.
Fencing plays an integral part in the running of the property.
The 6000ha is divided into 80 paddocks which, according to
Mike, allows him to control both the stock and the pasture in
order to maximise productivity and yield.
“When you’re running as much stock as we do you need to
keep things closely under control and we find that two Waratah
wires over netting or two wires over Stocktite does just that.”
Mike runs a set-stocking regime, but increasing pasture production
is always on the drawing board. So Mike ensures that he spells
each paddock over the course of the season.
“We’re always renovating pasture, even in drought, because
it’s a key to improving our productivity and yield,” Mike said.
“We’ve divided the country up through fencing into different
land classifications that allow us to concentrate on areas with
the most potential. The good areas get the best treatment. The
other country is still looked after, but not treated with as much
fertiliser. Our aim is to be constantly moving forward.”
Even in tough times, Mike Martin is keeping on top of things through good farm and business management.
Labour efficiency is another area where fencing has a key role
to play, and Mike aims to run one labour unit to 10,000 DSE.
“Good fencing and laneways help us achieve this goal because
we are not spending time getting stray stock back to their set
areas,” said Mike.
“A single worker can also move stock along the laneway very
easily without cattle and sheep going everywhere and causing
chaos.”

“The best way for us to measure how we are performing is by
calculating the yield per hectare. Over the last couple of years
of drought this has been a negative figure, but we are aiming
to make at least 10 per cent on money invested.
“That’s our bottom line, but we try to do better than that. In
previous years we have achieved a 17 to 18% return.
“Once the drought is over we’ll certainly be looking at getting
back to those sort of figures.”
