JACQUELYN ALUOTTO
Founder, Jacquelyn Aluotto is actor, producer, director, filmmaker, event coordinator, human activist, volunteer, entrepreneur, daughter, sister, friend, fiancé, restaurant manager, and the list goes on. Born in New Jersey, Jacquelyn Aluotto has lived in both urban and suburban settings before finally settling down in Edgewater, NJ. From a very young age, she knew she wanted to be an actor. She worked hard and was accepted
by the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where she studied theater.
However, the career path Jacquelyn envisioned went in an exciting different direction. She had begun volunteering at a women’s shelter. Listening
to the harrowing stories told by the battered women and children she
met there, she asked herself what she could do to help them more. She
was struck by inspiration. She would document the women’s stories and
what they had to go through by filming them in their natural setting in
the shelter. Jacquelyn believes that through film, people will be able to
understand the hardships and abuse these women and children had to
endure, and be moved to help. Many women and children are on the
road to a new life, through the help if the shelters. However, shelters are
closing down. That is when her groundbreaking documentary film, Not
in My Backyard was born.
UNDERGROUND WORLD
Never before have cameras been allowed into the guarded world of
underground shelters. Not one to back down, Jacquelyn dove right into
her touching topic producing poignant, never before seen footage. She
tackles a very powerful yet hidden American social issue: abused and
homeless women and children. The result is an award winning film, over
six years in the making, which presents a genuine, firsthand view of the
perilous lives of the victims of domestic violence.

PICK IT UP PRODUCTION COMPANY
Jacquelyn Aluotto makes films she feels are significant. “I saved $20,000 in quarters to start
my company.” she said. It took discipline to save that much money in quarters one day at a
time. This money funded her now growing film studio Pick It Up Pictures. Now that’s what
you call the entrepreneurial spirit.
The name of her studio has a special meaning. It was born with the idea that every single
one of us needs to be held accountable when it comes to making the world a better place. “I grew up poor,
but my mom always taught us the idea of treating others the right way, and we were constantly performing
random acts of kindness,” says Aluotto.
“My early years were not easy, and some would say I had a very rough life but I
wouldn’t change it for anything. It has made me who I am”. Jacquelyn continued, “I
want to help change the world and make a difference. That is why creating Pick It
Up Pictures and making socially conscious films are so important”.
Aluotto has been asked to showcase her film and speak at numerous different
venues including “The Detroit Film Festival-Until The Violence Stops” where it
won an award. It has been screened at several high schools and colleges around
the country, where students have been inspire to hold fund raising events. Real
Beauty Real Women.com and Not in My Backyard have been creating quite a stir.
The outpouring from actual domestic violence victims who have seen the documentary is that there is not a more genuine film capturing the true essence of
violence and abuse.

LIVE EVENTS: BREAK THE CYCLE OF VIOLENCE
With Jacquelyn’s entrepreneurial spirit, matching her unrelenting desire to help others the creation of her own non-profit organization was only natural. Break The Cycle
of Violence is a nonprofit in her home state of New Jersey. The organization tackles
the issues of violence and abuse across the entire country.
A signature event called “World Peace Begins at Home” was created to raise both
awareness and crucially needed funds to save domestic violence shelters. Among
those who attended the event were “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Danielle
Staub along with her daughters and her friend Lori Michaels.
The “Style Network” was also heavily involved, exclusively filming their hit show
“Jerseylicious” both behind the scenes of the event, and in front of the audience. . Attendees were taught
self-defense moves from Toni Geiger, the #1 ranked female judo athlete in the USA and member of Team
USA 2010. RBRW helps further with pressing needs including counseling, education and help in seeking
employment.
Jerseylicious star Alexa Prisco served as special MC for World Peace Begins at Home. They raised over
$10,000 to save the shelters and opened the eyes of all.
In an unselfish collaborative effort celebrity makeup artist and star of the show “Real Beauty Real Women”,
Jacqui Philips, celebrity hairstylist Eric Alt, the cutting edge stylists of Hello Gorgeous Salon, the runway
fashion expertise of Jacquelyne Joyah Inc., came together to beautify over forty women from the shelter.
The end product was stunning as the more than forty beautiful women, who have endured so much in their
lives, were able to shine for all to see.
