As the new executive director of St. David’s Center, I am
delighted to welcome you to the 22nd Annual St. David’s
Center Gala with Honorary Co-Chairs John and Candace
Randle.
Being with St. David’s Center for more than 21 years, I’ve
always looked forward to the Gala, the opportunity to
celebrate our work and the chance to recognize valuable
donors like you.
Tonight we celebrate those who “Light the Way,” whether through service or
financial donation, to Build relationships that nurture the development of every
child and family. I’d especially like to thank our honorary co-chairs, John and
Candace Randle for their dedication to St. David’s Center and their support with
this event.
Every donation this evening is important, but I would like to call special
attention to the “Light-the-Way” portion of the program. Your donation to
the “Light-the-Way” fund will allow us to make inclusion services for children
with special needs in our Early Childhood Education program available to more
children in the West metro area. This is a fabulous opportunity to make a direct
impact on a child’s future – see page 8 of this program for more information on
how to make a child shine.

When John and Candace learned about
our inclusion services -- where children of
all abilities learn side-by-side -- they were
intrigued. “At first we weren’t sure just how
much St. David’s Center could do for our children. Then we learned they could
do it all,” explained Candace.
Their twins, Ryann and Jonathan, both benefitted from the Early Childhood
Education program. Jonathan receives additional classroom support as well as
speech and occupational therapies.
“To see the teachers and therapists take him to the next level, where he’s a
regular child among his peers -- that’s not something I was sure would happen
for Jonathan. It’s been wonderful to see him reach his potential,” shared
Candace.

Raffles
Light-the-Way
The opportunity to learn alongside children with varying needs and abilities is
invaluable. Yet challenges often stand between families and the opportunities
they want to provide for their children.
This year’s theme, “Make Them Shine,” acknowledges our dedication to
bringing out the potential in every child – specifically the tremendous success
of our inclusive classrooms.
Your Light-the-Way donation tonight will be designated for inclusion services
at St. David’s Center. Our inclusive preschool classrooms offer children of all
abilities the opportunity to learn side-by-side. We’ve heard how the experience
has proven priceless to families of children with special needs and typical needs
alike. Unfortunately, due to the additional cost of providing individualized
support in the classroom, access to inclusion opportunities has been limited for
some families.
During the Light-the-Way presentation, Executive Director Julie Sjordal will
speak about the growing need for support of these services. This will be
followed by a video featuring Honorary Co-Chairs John and Candace Randle and
their two children, Ryann and Jonathan. Their story is just one example of the
impact of inclusive services and the importance of increasing access for more
families.
Wall of Wine Raffle
You may be the lucky winner of a Wall of Wine! Purchase your chance for $20
during the Silent Auction and a Wall of Wine may be yours. This wonderful
selection includes domestic and imported wines donated by St. David’s Center
Board and Leadership Council members.
The winning ticket will be drawn and announced at the end of the evening.
Please be present to win and able to take the wine with you when you leave.
NEW Bling Ring Raffle
Purchase a “Bling Ring” for the chance to win the real thing! For $20, you will
be entered in a drawing for a lovely sterling silver CZ ring, earrings and bracelet

Raffle numbers are written on the inside of the “Bling Ring.” The winning
number will be announced at the end of the evening. So go ahead, show off

Silent Auction Rules
1. Silent Auction hours are 6:00 p.m. – 7:25 p.m. Bidding on the theme
baskets closes at 7:20 p.m.
2. All items have an opening bid and minimum raise. Bids of less than the
minimum bid are invalid.
3. A bid is a legal contract to buy.
4. Receipts will be delivered during the program. If you choose not to preswipe you credit card, the items you have made the final bid on must be
paid for at the end of the evening with cash, check, Visa, MasterCard or
American Express.
5. Items must be taken by the winning bidder the evening of the event.
Unless otherwise specified, all auction item services must be used within
one year of the purchase.
Silent Auction Guidelines
What is Tax Deductible?
Being exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c) (3), St. David’s
Center is required to substantiate both donations to the auction and purchases
at the auction. This information is provided here to assist you in your tax
documentation. As with any tax or financial matter, we strongly recommend
that you consult your regular tax advisor.
1. The tax-deductible amount of purchased auction items is the difference
between the price paid at the auction and the fair market value of the good
or service provided. A good faith estimate of the fair market value for each
auction item is clearly listed in this auction book and on the bid sheets.
2. It may be difficult to establish the fair market value of one-of-a-kind gifts
such as works of art or similarly unique items. In these cases, as with
any tax situation, the establishment of tax evaluation should be done in
consultation with your tax advisor.
