W
ith each passing issue there
is a realization to how
big our art community
is. Not only here in our little South
Florida region of the United States,
but in all parts of the world and in
little towns that you have never heard
of. So with each submission from another
state or even another country, we thought
maybe we should open our arms up a little bit more and show
some of their artwork also. Maybe exposing artwork from other
areas would spark some kind of inspiration in our local artists.
Well we did just that. In this issue you will find an artist from
L.A. and two artists from Switzerland, the cities of Bellinzona
and Lugano to be exact. The compassion they showed for the
magazine and the support they continue to give, we just had to
show their work. We felt it was the right thing and we hope you
do also. Please check out their work and let us know if it stands up
to be shown with our local artists. You the reader decide what we
show in this magazine. Just like the name, WeMerge.
We would also like to introduce our new publishing firm,
Foxy Publishing. This company handles different aspects of
the publishing world from development and distribution
to marketing and sales. They will be helping us to further
expand our name and audience. We are currently producing a 36
page coloring book titled “Coloring Locals” to be donated to local
schools in the tri-county area. (See page 41) This is a great project
that allows us to give back to our local community in a way that
not many people can. So we are very proud of this project and
thank Foxy Publishing for helping us with this endeavour.
We have a release party coming up. Oh yes..a release party. We
have 7 bands lined up and 4 artists painting live. This will all be
going down at the Greenroom in Fort Lauderdale (See page 35).
There are a lot of events going on the next couple of months. We
have some exciting ones within our pages as well as on our website.
If you happen to visit facebook at all in your busy schedule, you
will find some events from other supporters of the magazine. We
also have a newsletter that goes out monthly listing local events,
so if you haven’t joined that yet please visit our website and help
yourself. We offer oodles and oodles of fun.
Well we hope you enjoy the magazine and we always love to
hear from you, so if you have any thoughts or questions, please
don’t hesitate. We are the people that make up this community.
Let’s make sure we represent ourselves and our art with the utmost
pride and respect. We can change the world together.

I
f you haven’t seen any of local artist, designer and all around urban
art juggernaut ENRICO MORALES, you definitely haven’t been
reading the last few issues of WeMerge. The Miami based painter,
illustrator, muralist and web designer is an esteemed product of the
prestigious Design and Architecture High School in Miami and went on
to receive his Fine Arts Degree from Florida State University in 2003 and
has caving his indelible mark on the art world ever since.
His artwork has always been the driving force in his life, allowing him
the voice to express his creativity and harness it in a positive way. He
has drawn inspiration from some of his favorite authors and artists such
as Hunter S. Thompson, Basquait, Dali and Rauchenberg, incorporating
their various symbolisms, vivid color schemes and imagery to create his
own unique style that spans as many genres as there are layers in his
incredible works.
Through research and knowledge of his craft is always expanding
and growing. Compelled to create since his youth, Enrico is driven to
stay fresh and unique offering unconventional solutions for common
problems we all face in design. His skilled services include but are
certainly not limited to: Art Direction, Graphic Design, Illustration, Web
Design, Custom Murals, Video Editing and Motion Graphics with Graffiti
and Beat Making becoming new passions.
Check out his work at enricomorales.com or contact him via text
(305-807-8001) or email ([email protected]) for a more direct
connection. More to come from Enrico in the bright future and WeMerge
will be there to document his journey. Come along for the ride.

My process in general:
First thing is doing research, collecting images and elements to collage. Stuff
from old books, thrift stores, even around your house, coffee stains on paper,
you can even try putting a wet tea bag on different paper and let it dry. Creates
a cool effect. Another technique that works well is using soy sauce and a
brush and spattering the paper, use different strokes. It drys and an abnormal
rate so you can get some cool effects, darker vs lighter lines etc. Finally when
drawing try to ink it, then scan it, add stuff with another pen that has a different
thickness or weight, scan it again and layer them together in photoshop. This
“Scan, print, copy, repeat” method can be done a bunch of times to make some
awesome halftone effects. I experimented a lot to find these tips
out and then I found an article where UK artist and
designer Paul Insect does the same thing.

n a closet, or in a pile,
we all have a stash of t-shirts. I bet half of them
aren’t even in your size anymore. We all have at
least one favorite t-shirt that we wore in high
school or found in a thrift store. It’s been years since
you’ve worn it but you cant find it in you to get rid of
it either. It’s been staring at you long enough don’t
you think?! It’s time to Chop em’ up, embellish and
redesign!
There are lots of ways to transform, alter, embellish and
reconstruct old clothes into a fashionable and trendy
wardrobe. With a little imagination and creativity you
can recreate your tshirt and make super cute tanks, mini
shirts, pillows, tote bags, quilts and more!
Now you can wear any t-shirt, no matter what size it is.
Some ideas require a little sewing, others just a few snips
here, a few stitches there, a bit of hot glue and a ribbon
later...turn that large tshirt and modify it to give you the
perfect fit! t

As a young girl, I would spend hours playing dress-up with my
grandmother’s sparkly skirts and various blouses that would be the
length of my entire body. I always thought I was such a divine fashion
diva even at the age of four. My father, a professional photographer,
would make me pretend to be a model and take hundreds of photos of me.
Today, I’m the one behind the camera playing dress-up with models and
various women that want to transform into another time. I wanted
others to experience this magical transformation with hair, make-up,
fashion and photography and in desiring that wish, I created the event
Pinned Up South Florida. My mission was for women of all shapes,
sizes and colors to realize that any woman deserves to be ‘Pinned Up.’
The event took place on February 5th, 2012 at IWAN The Bubble.
The graffiti art space was filled with vintage fashion and jewelry,
burlesque artists and the women who wanted to go back to an
era filled with glamour and class. Michele B., a make-up artist, of
The Fawn and the Fox, had books with women from the 1940s
as her inspiration. “I am so excited to do this event, and use
classic make-up skills from a wonderful era.” The event finished
with a burlesque lesson from Cupcake Burlesque taught by
Miss Jenna Beth and Miss Isadora Bull. Personally, it was
a dream come true to share my love of photography and
vintage with others. Hopefully, in a group effort we will be
able to continue with the success of Pinned Up South
Florida in different avenues. t

smash. They give us a
tremendous amount of
freedom to make the
music and visuals that
we want.
In the later part of March, iMAYDAY! will join Tech
N9ne and Machine Gun Kelly on the historic
“Hostile Takeover Tour 2012” for a record breaking
90 shows in 99 days. After making their voices heard
loud and clear on last year’s successful 6’s and 7’s
Tour and officially signing to the Strange Music
team, the Miami super-group was welcomed back
with open arms for another long ride and is also set
to release their first album on the Strange Music label,
Take Me To Your Leader. I caught up with Wrekonize
to get the inside track on the past few months and
learn a few things that we may not have known about
the likable lyricist and hardest worker in hip hop.
iMAYDAY! has come a long way since we
first met two years ago. How this ride felt
from the inside?
“It’s really hard to put into words at this point
because I still feel that I have so much ground to
gain. I can definitely say that it’s incredibly dope to
see more and more people tuning into what we’re
doing. I’m seeing people going back through my
older material that got way less attention when I first
released it. It’s a great feeling.”
Can you give us the quick version of how
iMAYDAY! joined Techn9ne and the Strange
Music family? Why was it such a good fit
for you guys?
“The VP of Strange Music had a mutual friend with
one of our managers. He passed our album “Stuck
on an Island” to him and he dug our sound so much
that he set up for us to open for Tech on two of his
Florida dates. After they saw what we could do, we
were on the next flight to Kansas City to meet up
and talk signing. It’s a great fit for us because Tech &
Strange are into truly developing their artists. They
aren’t looking for an overnight hit single or a radio
Describe Tech in three words?
Describe yourself?
Describing Tech in 3 words; Monstrous, Tireless,
Humble. Myself; Diplomatic, Dedicated, Beastly”
One night you are rocking a small stage
on South Beach, and then next, you are
on an 80 city National tour with Strange
Music and after a short break you guys
are getting right back out there for
another 4 months. Describe the sudden
change in scenery? What is your favorite
new city to play in?
“The minute you leave Miami you realize how
spoiled we are with the women that inhabit our
city. You also realize how beautiful the rest of the
country is scenery wise. There’s a very weird sense
of lawlessness that sets in when your skimming
across cities one day at a time and you always have
all access to the hottest party in town. Watching
Tech’s live set and his consistency is definitely a life
changing experience. I had a blast in Chicago. The
energy was great and the House of Blues is an epic
venue.”
You have the best backers in the business
in Plex, Gianni, LT and NonMS behind
yourself and Bernz. Has being signed to
a major label allowed you to surround
yourself with even MORE incredible hiphop talent?
We’ve been blessed to have an incredible
management team that are tireless bounty hunters
when it comes to collaborations. From even before
being signed we were bringing in some impressive
features. But being signed to the best indie label on
the planet definitely doesn’t hurt either.

What kind of music would we find on your
iPod? What artists are inspiring you to
make better music? Give me a name that
I’ve never heard of and won’t want to
turn off.
“My iPod is a crazy crazy place. It can go from Mos
Def to Rick Ross to Pink Floyd to Rjd2 to Bjork
to Peter Gabriel. I love so many different kinds
of music. I definitely am a child of the genre-less
generation. There’s an emcee out of the UK called
Jehst. He’s super nasty as far as Hop Hop goes and a
lot of heads here haven’t heard of him.
You had a song Technology on your last
album. What is your stance on how it is
affecting Hip-Hop?
“Technology will always keep progressing and it
definitely changes the game but at the end of the
day it’s still all about talent and determination. It’s all
about the technician and not the tool.“
Can you put Hip-Hop in England on blast
and let South Florida in on what they are
missing?
“The UK hip hop scene is definitely dope. They have
a great boom bap scene with artists like Jehst and
Braintax....and bigger artists like Roots Manuva &
Dizzee Rascal. When our schedule calms down holla
at me again and I’ll give you a more in depth PSA.”
If you were “Stuck on an Island” what
three things would you bring?
“Stuck on an island I’d bring my Ipod, a pair of
shades, and a rig to ferment my own alcohol.lol”
We promise to catch up with Wrekonize
and iMAYDAY! for a follow up interview
after the record setting tour.

Quick Q&A
Article Written By: Evelyn Lasso
1. Some Highlights of the past year?
“Definitely being in the studio working with the Marley’s. We
Produced a Track with Stephen’s son , Jo Mersa Marley. We
also had the chance to meet with Ludacris and play him some
instrumentals for his upcoming album.”
2. Anyone you would love to produce a track for and why?
On the soul side of things Cee Lo Green & Anthony Hamilton
because there voices are amazing. As far as hip hop is concerned
definitely Mos Def, Lauryn Hill, & Jay Z because of there insane
songwriting abilities.
3. Any advice for the youth that aspires to be
in the music industry?
“Stay focused on your dream & get as much
sleep as you can now“
4. Special Shout outs?
Huge shout out to WeMerge Magazine for this opportunity and
all the fans that support our artist and music.
T
hroughout the years the constantly brewing
kettle that is Miami has served as a threshold
for the melodiously inclined. As our high-rises
get higher, the cultural diversity expands. Versatility
is Miami and the Power House production crew that
is Miami Beat Wave has arrived.
Less than 60 days into a brand new year and
MBW has already opened for Immortal Technique
at the annual Grassroots Festival alongside Grammy
nominated artist, Omniscient of Locos por Juana,
released a single for Garcia Feat. N.O.R.E. & their
own up and coming Reggae/Hip-Hop artist AG
Lyonz and will soon be releasing a video for the
powerful message track “Don’t Worry” by Davincci
of Real Talk and Itagui of Locos por Juana (directed
by 11 time Emmy winners CREAMTEAM).
Having produced, recorded, and mixed an
entire album for South Floridas own Miami Heat
Band, DangerFlow (Win, Lose or Die) as well
as an EP for Island Def Jam artist Layne Harper
(Beyond Category) Miami Beat Wave is skyrocketing
ahead of the competition. The list continues with
incomparable work being done for Miami natives
¡MAYDAY!, ArtOfficial, and Garcia, as well as tracks
produced for Don Cannon’s artist Rich and Fameus
(All out of Love) and are in the process of wrapping
up “The Unofficial Audio-Biography of Afrika
Bambaataa” for M1 of Dead Prez . Keep in mind,
their year is JUST starting.
The mastermind behind the operation, Miami
born Brandan Toledo joined forces with one-man
live band Chip Williams out of North Carolina
and Chicago based beat smith St. LaRok after all
three graduated from Orlando’s Full Sail School
of Music & Media Production. After being named
Producers of the Year on the305.com, Miami Beat
Wave has expanded into a tsunami of sound and
talent covering multiple shores. They have taken a
seat at the Miami music scene’s round table along
side ¡MAYDAY!, who filmed Episode 1 of “¡MAYDAY!
Studio Sessions” at Miami Beat Wave studios.
There they also recorded the track “Internal Wars”
alongside M1 of Dead Prez for their upcoming LP
“Take me to Your Leader”(Strange Music). MBW
produced the ¡MAYDAY! track “One Foot in the
Grave” and is releasing a project with ¡MAYDAY!’s
own Wrekonize in a few months.
The crew has made numerous cameo
appearances for the videos to their produced
tracks. I had the pleasure of attending the Premiere
for the video to “Money Comes (Money Goes)” by
Omniscient and M1 of Dead Prez which was held
on the movie screen at Paragon Theaters in Coconut
Grove. Director extraordinaire Adam Rush, who has
worked with artists such as Lil Wayne, Dj Khaled
and Rick Ross and who was also in attendance did
an exceptional job on the visual art to the Miami
Beat Wave production. The night was a proud one for
many in celebration of music, talent and dedication.
Recently, MBW has started a House/Dance team
of producers and deejays who have been bringing
people to the dance floors performing at clubs
around Miami with tracks like “Casualty of Love” and
“In Your Rhythm”, proving to the masses that there’s
nothing Miami Beat Wave can’t undertake. They
have even gone International, having Remixes in
Germany for their last project “Slight Modification”,
as well as working on several tracks with Latin artist
2Nyce.
Their resume proves they have the talent to
produce hard-boiled hip-hop tracks, radio ready
pop hits, balls-out rock tunes, hypnotizing soul
sampled melodies, Dance/House Hits, and Latin
Infused bangers…just to name a few of the many
sounds coming out of these very talented minds.
Having mastered the art of beat crafting, recording,
mixing and mastering Miami Beat Wave has become
the Go-To team for many artists. Every night is a
meeting of the minds at MBW’s head quarters with
the motto “Dreaming with our eyes open”. These
boys have their hands in numerous cookie jars,
making their climb to the top that much sweeter.

andy Captain Guerra, Orientation Leader at The Art
Institute of Fort Lauderdale, not only helps guide
young artists on their journey into art education, he
himself has steadily impressed the local artistic community
with his distinctive water color paintings, expansive
murals and unique illustrations. With a style and vision
all his own, combined with a dedication to improving his
craft as well as his brand, Randy has shown that he is ready
for the spotlight.
When WeMerge first came across the up and coming
young artist, it was clear that he wore his artistic expression
on his sleeve as well as his canvasses and let it all hang out
when it came to completing his emotive pieces. When it
came to tallying the Who’s Next Gallery Winner votes, it
was clear that the Captain was going to be the run away
winner. His fan-friendly demeanor during his numerous
appearances at local shows, festivals and various artistic
outlets near and far, helped garner him the support needed
to take the prize. The tremendous influx of emails citing
his distinctly unique vision and incredible talent was as
overwhelming as any other past winner.
By highlighting the Who’s Next Gallery in every issue,
we at WeMerge encourage up and coming local artists to
keep honing their craft and we will continue to showcase
their work for judgement by peers, fans and friends. You
never know unless you try. We like to give our readers what
they ask for, and if that happens to be more of your amazing
art work, then so be it! So to all of the talented artists like
Randy Captain Guerra, we at the magazine ask you to keep
up the hard work and we will continue to offer you the outlet
to share it. t

attoo artist, Photographer, Designer. These are some of the many titles given to the artist
known as Scott White. Having firmly secured himself a spot in the tattoo industry, Scott has
been tattooing at Altered State Tattoo since 1997. Creating custom tattoos on a daily basis
offers him a constant creative outlet. Sometimes that’s just not enough and he has to get out the
camera too. Making pictures of beings that could be from some dark, far off planet, or the local fetish
club, Scott often pushes the limits of what’s real or not real by using a variety of images, textures,
& lighting. Scott brings this multi-layered affair together in a cohesive image that by some miracle
matches what’s in his head. Check out Scott’s world at WWW.VISUALVORTEX.COM t

Mick Jagger of Rolling Stones
OldRockPhoto presents the Documentary trailer,
“The 1969 Palm Beach Pop Festival”.
In 2008, Photographer Ken Davidoff, and
Producer/Director, Jack Connell , of OldRockPhoto,
started bringing to life for the first time the history
of Ken’s classic rock concert photographic archive.
Ken has one of the only photographic record
of several historic, but forgotten Rock Festivals,
Michael Lang ‘s 1968 Miami Pop Festival, headlined
by Jimi Hendrix. Miami Pop was Michael Lang’s
“Road to Woodstock”. The other major festival was
the 1969 Palm Beach Pop Festival; this event was
three months after Woodstock and six days before
Altamont. Bill Hanley did the sound and staging,
Wavy Gravy, Tom Law, and the Hog Farm, David
Butkovich of Ken Kesey’s Merry Pranksters did
the stage production.
After interviewing a few attendees and rock
musicians that played at the 1969 Palm Beach Pop
Festival, ORP came to the conclusion that it was up
to them, nobody else could tell the story because
Ken’s photographs were the only ones available
from the ‘69 Palm Beach Pop Festival, he and his
Father, famous society photographer, Bob Davidoff,
of the book “The Kennedy Family Album” were the
Official Photographers for the Palm Beach Festival.
There were over twenty major acts, among those
playing at the festival were The Byrds, Sweetwater,
Sly and the Family Stone, Johnny Winters,
Janis Joplin, Country Joe and The Fish, Rotary
Connection with Minnie Riperton, Grand Funk
RR, King Crimson, Jefferson
Airplane, Spirit, Vanilla Fudge,
Steppenwolf, and the Rolling
Stones.
The song for the trailer was
written by Jack Connell, and
Richard Hott, music by Jack Connell. The band
members include such notables as Bass player,
Mark Andes, of Spirit, and Heart, who played at
the festival in ’69, Lead guitarist, Chris Leuzinger, of
all Garth Brooks studio recordings, & Crystal Gayle
band, Jack Connell, Vocals and Rhythm Guitar,
Drummer and Percussion’s, Steve “Tner” Krawczyn
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKK3V9KEF7k
The footage you see in the trailer with time code
on it is from the Wolfson Archive of Miami Dade
College. It is enormously expensive, as is the new
footage that Old Rock Photo has discovered at the
ABC and NBC News Archive. There is footage of
The Rolling Stones playing at P.B., and The Stones
leaving MSG for their departure to Palm Beach, also
Johnny Winters, Janis Joplin, and various other
bands. This footage also has crowd shots and various
happenings at the festival. Some of the funds raised
will be used to purchase footage.

Crowd waiting for the show.
There are several key people that this doc needs to interview. Some
of those intended for interview, are Wavy Gravy and Tom Law of The
Hog Farm, David Butkovich from The Merry Pranksters, Barry “The Fish”
Melton, of Country Joe fame, and Vinny Martell of Vanilla Fudge, The
Fudge jammed with Janis Joplin, Edgar and Johnny Winter at the festival
in ‘69. http://www.oldrockphoto.com/palmbeach.html t

art enthusiasts may
recognize the name
Mr. Brainwash from
Art Basel 2010 when his
urban storm troopers took over the
balconies of the 4 story Boulon Building
on Biscayne Blvd. While others may recognize
him from Banksy’s street art documentary
Exit Through The Gift Shop. Whatever the case,
the Los Angeles based street artist and filmmaker,
born Thierry Guetta, was at it again this year at
the same, now infamous, Art Basel location with
another mind bending pop art installation.

my 10-yr-old son, my 15-yr-old cousin and my
retired parents, the appreciation for the colorful
and thought inspiring art instantly spanned across
three generations. We entered not having any idea
of who or what we were about to see and all five of
us left instant fans, excited to see what he will come
back with next year.

ith the expansion of our magazine through social networks, we have
gained a wider audience reaching the far corners of the art world. We
sometimes take for granted how much art is out there, we try to see everything,
but can only take in so much. Sometimes something catches your eye and you
want to share it with everyone you know. Especially your artistc friends. So
with out any further wait we would like to introduce to you the biggest fans of
WeMerge in Switzerland - Christian Rebecchi and Pablo Togni.
Hello, we are NEVERCREW, a swiss-based artists duo. We started in 1996
doing graffiti, drawings and graphics, and since then we have always tried
to blend our reciprocal passions, the old and the new ones, to create, build,
have fun, evolve and maybe communicate. Over the years we have mixed the
elements of graphics, collage, lettering with those of street art, graffiti, and
traditional painting. We mixed the interaction with the environment at the
image, the 2D with the 3D, for stylistic choices but also to create always more
and with more freedom. In our work we use our memories and our dreams, and
we combine them with what we are now; we use the vintage and the surreal or
the atmosphere and the structure of the metropolis.
WeMerge Magazine - www.WeMerge.com
Main aspects of our concepts are exploration, space travels, changing point of views,
empathy, proportions and connections. Also if our images seem to be dissociated,
as usually happens in life, there is a strong interaction between the different
environments (that include real elements, fictional and surreal elements, objects,
ambiances and feelings, disproportions and links to everyday life and reality) and
everything become part of an unique balance (also with the observer’s space,
of course). By doing this, we love to create evocative situations, thoughts, new
creatures and new worlds, images with their own soul, and communicate specific
ideas and concepts about our modern reality and society.
With this new premise, since 2008 they continue to face with some more things
that they had temporarily put aside, and again they extend the range of their
artistic creations, giving each the right value and the right soul. In their most
recent works can be found different kind of paintings, sculptures, graphics,
designs, objects and designer toys. Their main artworks are the “Octopus”
painting at the Skatepark of Lugano (CH), the “Daydream in a Box” painting (CH),
the live painting at the Volvo Art Session in Zürich (CH), the first place in the “Best
Minimalist Design” category in the MunnyWorld Megacontest of Kidrobot, the
“Sluggy P” art-toy character and the “Hangselm” project, a customizable paper
toy which has the purpose to involve different artists.
