Alex used to explain his sprawling creation of collections,
displays and galleries by saying that “one thing just sort
of led to another.” Since those early days, the world Alex
Jordan created has grown far beyond the Original House
and into an attraction with many buildings that contain
eclectic, exotic and whimsical exhibits and displays. The House
on the Rock is open year round and offers different experiences
depending on the time of the year. During the Regular Season
(March 10 to November 13, 2016), the full complex is open
and is divided into 3 sections. On your self-guided
Ultimate Experience tour you will explore:
• The unique design of the Original House
perched on a chimney of rock
• The Infinity Room extending an unsupported length
of 218 feet and soaring 156 above the valley floor
• The World’s Largest Carousel featuring 269

The House on the Rock
A dream turned into an ever Evolving reality
In 1945 Alex Jordan climbed a rocky tower and his
imagination took flight. What began as a lofty retreat
with an awe-inspiring view has become the spectacular
attraction known worldwide as The House
on the Rock. Over the years, Alex
expanded his vision beyond
the House and collected and
built on a massive scale.
When you visit The House
on the Rock, you’ll see
Alex Jordan’s fantastic
dreams unfold as you
stroll from wonder to
wonder. Never intending
his sprawling creation
to be a museum, the
awe-inspiring displays
you see and the music you
hear while strolling through the
many buildings were all designed
by Alex to entertain, astound and amaze
his guests. One year before his death Alex sold The
House on the Rock to Art and Karen Donaldson. Since
1989 the Donaldson family has maintained and further
developed The House on the Rock with visitor amenities,
new collections and exhibits and additional experiences
for you to enjoy throughout all four seasons.
Always growing and improving, The House on the Rock
is indeed a one-of-a-kind adventure for the entire family
at any time of the year.

The Dark Side
A spooky after hours experience!
Unsettling to some during the day, wait til you
journey through The House on the Rock at night!
“The Dark Side” is a decidedly different experience at
the Attraction. This is the time when we dim the lights and select areas
of the Attraction become haunted. In true House on the Rock fashion,
it’s anything but typical. You’ll encounter creepy tableaus of terror from
horrific clowns to zombie bridegrooms and a Haunted Doll Carousel.
Travel through the Devil’s Throat and wander through the fiendishly
disorienting Dark Maze, escaping at last…only to be greeted by the
Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse!
