BEAUTY PROGRAM
DEBUTS IN OCTOBER
On Saturday, October 23, KTSF will premiere
it’s latest in-house production, Kaitlyn’s Beauty
Journal. A half-hour, Chinese-language program, it will feature segments on skin care and
make-up application, hair and nail care, product
reviews, dermatology suggestions and fashion
trends. To complement the show, online and
mobile components will be utilized to enhance
viewer interaction.
Kaitlyn’s Beauty Journal is the first-ever
American beauty program produced and broadcast in Mandarin and is the first and only
beauty program aimed at Chinese-American
women.
The program will kick-off with a spectacular
makeover contest offering viewers the oppor-
tunity to win a trip to
Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas along with a
beauty makeover at Qua Baths & Spa and
COLOR, a Michael Boychuck salon.
Series host Kaitlyn Chen graduated from the
Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising
with a degree in Beauty Industry Merchandising
and Marketing.
Kaitlyn is a makeup/fashion maven and avid
blogger. She shares her passion for
“everything beauty” on her popular blog which
has attracted more than 1 million views in the
blogosphere.
Kaitlyn’s Beauty Journal will air weekly on
Saturdays at 6:30 pm.

BREAKING NEWS COVERAGE SETS RECORD
The KTSF 8:00 pm drama, Down
with Love, aired from Aug. 18
through Sept. 24, and outranked
all other stations in the market in
the women 18 - 24 demo. KTSF led
with a 1.5 rating, followed by KPIX (CBS)
KTSF newscasts reached 157,000
viewers on Thursday night, Sept. 9,
when KTSF provided local breaking news
coverage of the San Bruno pipeline explosion and fire. News viewership increased
12% over the previous record. Newscasts

The end of September marked the
end of the street festival season
for KTSF. Channel 26 participates
in eight street festivals every
year, including the San Francisco
Chinatown Lunar New Year Festival, the Japantown Cherry Blossom Festival, the Filipino Independence Day celebration (Pista
Sa Nayon) in Vallejo and the Oakland Chinatown Street Festival. A
longlong-time supporter of all these
cultural street events, KTSF has a
loyal following of visitors and typically attracts more than 20,000
people to our booths during the
entire season. InIn-booth activities
include interactive games, prize
givegive-aways and personal appearances by KTSF news anchors and
reporters.

PROGRAMMING UPDATE
Lurk, an exciting new modern mainstream drama set in
China during the mid-20th century, airs weeknights on
KTSF at 8 pm.
It is the story of Yu Zecheng, a spy for the Communist Party
during the Chinese civil war. Yu’s work in counterespionage means he must keep a distance from his love, Zuo
Lan. To conceal his identity he agrees to marry another
woman.
The trend in modern mainstream dramas began in 2009 and
Lurk, considered one of the best, topped the ratings and
was a huge financial success in China. Soon after its Sept.
27 debut on KTSF, the series became the station’s #1 rated
drama of 2010 .
Lurk airs Mon. - Fri. from 8:00 - 9:00 pm in Mandarin with
Chinese subtitles.

On Saturday, February 19, the 2010 San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade will welcome
the Year of the Rabbit.
KTSF will air the parade live beginning at 6:00
pm in Cantonese with Mandarin SAP and Chinese subtitles.

Badminton Tournament
This year’s event features an exhibition game
of badminton pros, including a member of the
US Olympic team that competed in Beijing.
Admission is free for spectators.

KTSF’s second annual amateur badminton doubles tournament is coming up on Saturday,
October 16, at Burlingame’s Bay Area Badminton Center. Mixed doubles, men’s doubles and
women’s doubles will compete for cash prizes
provided by KTSF.

On Friday night, December 3, KTSF
will air Taipei’s 47th Golden Horse
Awards ceremony .
The prestigious event, modeled after
the Academy Awards ceremony, will
air from 7:30 - 10:30 pm, in Mandarin.
Set in China at the beginning of the Han
Dynasty, Schemes of a Beauty is the story of
Empress Dou and how she influenced the
reign of her husband, Emperor Wen. This
historial drama will air weeknights on KTSF
beginning Monday, Oct. 11, at 9:00 pm, in
Mandarin with Chinese subtitles.
