HYLANDS HOUSE AND PARK Hylands has over 754 acres of Grade 2 listed parkland, showcasing an important example of Landscape Architect Humphry Repton’s influence during the 19th Century. Today Hylands House, also listed, can be hired for weddings, corporates and events. The Stables Visitor Centre with Gift Shop, Café and Artist Studios are surrounded by colourful Pleasure Gardens and an award winning contemporary garden. Ancient Woodlands, Grasslands and a Serpentine Lake all provide important habitat for a number of protected species. The park also boasts an all-inclusive Adventure Castle play area for younger visitors. GETTING THERE RAIL AND BUSES First Buses will operate a shuttle service between Chelmsford Rail Station and Hylands Park for £5 return. Buses run from Coval Lane, exit from the front of the rail station and turn left info Fairfield Road. The shuttle service from V Festival will run from the bus station near yellow campsite. Check national rail for train times and routes. This includes pay as you go credit and London area zone Travelcards. A separate rail ticket to Chelmsford is required. You must buy your rail ticket before you board the train. You cannot offer to ‘pay the difference’ in any fare once y ou arrive in Chelmsford. If you arrive without a valid rail ticket you may have to pay a penalty fare. If you have any queries please visit EXITING BY CAR Please be patient when exiting, stewards will assist you. Please look after yourself and others and ensure you are fit to do drive before you leave the festival. ON FOOT Hylands Park is approximately 2 miles south from Chelmsford town centre on the A414. Follow the signs from Chelmsford when reaching the festival site and head towards Gate 5. www.greateranglia.co.uk FESTIVAL COACHES Coach travel can be booked in advance by visiting our official coach suppliers at www.biggreencoach.co.uk If booking festival tickets and a coach travel package, please note that festival tickets will only be given out when disembarking from the coach at the festival. Coaches leave the festival site from the bus station shown on the map below. BY CAR Please follow road signs to V Festival, failure to do so may prevent entry to the park. Please do not use SAT Nav when nearing Hylands Park as road closures are in place that are not usually there. From the South and East – Follow the A12 to Chelmsford then follow signs to V Festival. From the North and West – Take M25, M11 then A414 to Chelmsford then follow the signs to V Festival. GETTING A LIFT There are pick up/drop off/taxi points in blue and yellow car parks, to find these follow the road signs. Some roads will be closed so drivers will need to exit the A12 at Junction 17. CAR PARKING There are official, supervised and lit car parks. Parking is £20 per vehicle arriving on Friday and £10 if arriving on Saturday or Sunday, you can pay in advance with your official ticket agent or pay on arrival, please have correct cash ready. Do not park on the surrounding roads as you will be towed away. AGE POLICY V Festival is not suitable for young children. Children under 5 are not permitted, children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over at all times and will need a full priced ticket. ARRIVING AT V FESTIVAL Opening Times CAR PARKS: 9AM FRIDAY CAMPSITES: 12:00 NOON FRIDAY WEEKEND CAMPING You will receive an entry wristband from your ticket agent. Please ensure you read the information on the wallet carefully. Keep the wristband safe and do not put it on until you are on route to V Festival. Please note that replacement wristbands will not be issued. Please do not put tents or equipment in the fire lanes, it will be removed even if you are not present. The lanes allow emergency vehicles access, if in doubt please ask. There are recycling bags available from our Green Messengers on entry to the campsites, please do use these to help us keep the campsites tidy and recycle your waste after you have left. FRIDAY NIGHT We’re excited to announce that BBC Radio 1’s Summer of Dance season will take over the Radio 1 stage on Friday 19 August, just hours before the 21st Birthday celebration commences. There’s no better way to get the party well and truly started than with some of the hottest dance acts on the planet. You won’t want to miss this, so make sure your tents up and lashes are on, for 7pm. Due to the huge success of Headphone Disco in the Dance Arena we’ve secured even more headphones this year and extended the times so you’ll be able to dance like a lunatic from 21:30 on Friday night and 12:00 Saturday night until the early hours. PINK MOON CAMPING Pink Moon customers will receive further information from the Pink Moon Team, if you have any queries please contact [email protected] V STYLE V Style customers will receive further information from our V Style Team, if you have any queries please contact [email protected] DAY TICKET HOLDERS – SATURDAY &/OR SUNDAY You are not permitted to camp or stay on site and do not need a festival wristband. Your ticket will allow you entry to the arena via Gate 5 on Saturday and/or Sunday and will be scanned by the stewards. There is no re-admittance to the arena so please ensure you have all your belongings with you. WEEKEND NON CAMPING TICKET HOLDERS You are not permitted to camp or stay on site and do not need a festival wristband. You will receive an entry wristband from your ticket agent. Scanners are non-intrusive and no images of you are created so there is no infringement of your privacy. If you refuse you will be required to ACCESSIBLE INFORMATION We ask for you to complete our application form for all access requirements and any PA/ Carer ticket requests alongside your proof of disability documentation for validation of your request. Disabled Access is now being treated as a free add-on feature to any event ticket. Hylands Park is a green-field site and can be hilly with lots of grass sections meaning that sometimes access across the site is not that easy especially in bad weather conditions. V Festival provides a number of facilities in the arena and campsite to accommodate disabled customers needs. Not all applicants for disabled access require the use of all facilities, but we will provide access to whatever is needed. A free PA/Carer ticket is available for those who require it. If you have any questions about the access and facilities at the festival, please email our dedicated team at [email protected] CAMPERVANS/CARAVANS/TRAILER TENTS Pitches are £99 bookable in advance from www.seetickets.com subject to availability. If you have pre booked please exchange your campervan ticket and weekend camping tickets for a wristband at the wristband exchange tent. There is a max of 4 person permitted per pitch and each must have a weekend camping ticket. All persons staying in the campervan must exchange their tickets at the same time. Tents are not permitted in or around your pitch, awnings integral to a campervan are permitted. Due to fire safety measures any equipment that we feel could infringe safety regulations will be removed. Vehicles other than those stated above are not permitted into this area. Please display your campervan hanging card from your rear view mirror to assist us directing you to the correct place. SEARCHES All persons entering the festival site may be searched as a condition of entry. Strictly NO illegal substances, Psychoactive substances will NOT be permitted into the site. Possession of either may lead to your ejection from the festival or arrest. As part of improved security we will be using metal detector scanners, you may be asked to use the scanner for a variety of reasons including random selection. undergo a private search. GENERAL CAMPERS INFORMATION PHONE CHARGING Don’t let a dead phone battery ruin your V Festival experience. You can charge your phone in your pocket with Volt for the entire festival. Sign up for Volt online, collect your first Volt Charger when you arrive at the festival, charge your phone in your pocket and when you need more power, swap your empty charger for a fully loaded one, and repeat! Get in ahead of the crowds to ensure you get one (and save £’s, it’s cheaper the earlier that you book!) Disposable BBQ’s give off harmful carbon monoxide during and after use, never take one into your tent, awning, caravan or motorhome. If you get separated from your friends, can’t find your tent, or just would like somebody to talk to then visit our welfare team Open Road in the Welfare area within red campsite. The Open Road Team will also be walking through the campsites. If you feel unwell alert a security/steward or visit first aid tent or welfare. Mark your tent to make it easily identifiable to you, make mental note of your surroundings and your nearest campsite security tower, they are all numbered for ease. Look out for each other you’re all neighbours albeit for a weekend. If you see anybody acting suspiciously or somebody is making you feel uncomfortable alert a member of the security or festival team. No glass is permitted on site - there are glass bottle exchanges on route to the campsites. You can decant your liquids from glass bottles into plastic here for £1 per bottle and all proceeds go to Village Water. You get to keep the contents and your glass bottles will be recycled. SHOWERS & TOILETS There are showers situated in the village area between red campsite and the campervan field. Toilets are located throughout the campsites, arena and car parks. TENTS Love Your Tent – Please take your tents and other camping equipment home with you, this is the best way to save your money and recycle at the same time. CAMPSITE DO’S AND DON’TS Please don’t bring anything illegal or anything considered offensive, illegal highs/ psychoactive substances. Do please bring your smart phones for that gorgeous #SelfV but do take good care of all your belongings. GENERAL FESTIVAL INFORMATION OPENING TIMES The Arena – Approx 17:00 on Friday for campers only & at 11:30 on Saturday and Sunday. The village is an area which will remain open throughout most of the night with Radio 1 Summer of Dance and Headphone Arena on Friday and Saturday nights. UNOFFICIAL CAMPSITES/CAR PARKS We strongly advise that for your own safety you do not camp or park in unofficial campsites and car parks outside of the festival site. VIP UPGRADES We are offering ticket holders the chance to upgrade their tickets to enter the VIP area inside of the arena. If you wish to see a specific artist you are advised to get there early as admittance cannot be guaranteed. Once an indoor stage reaches its capacity the entrances will be closed and will not be reopened until that artist has finished, even if people exit during the performance. TOILETS There are toilets located throughout the festival site. We don’t want you to queue jump but don’t be afraid to ask people to check the toilet doors. Please keep the toilets clean, they are cleaned and emptied throughout the weekend but we need your help too. Do not use the surrounding park land as you risk being ejected from the festival if you do. FOOD AND DRINK There is a large selection of food stalls offering a variety of dishes from all over the world. There are bars serving alcohol during licenced hours to over 18’s only. We operate a challenge 25 policy so please don’t be offended if you are asked for ID. It is against the law to purchase alcohol for under 18’s. For the first time all bars at the festival will be cash bars, so no need to exchange cash for tokens. Bring us your empties! Every bar cup and all plastic bottles that you purchase at V Festival will have a returnable deposit of 10p. There is a dedicated return point in the arena (left of main stage bar). 10 items for £1, a full recycling bag of bottles for £5. Opening Hours: Fri/Sat/Sun 1pm - 9pm. WIN THIS YEAR’S MERCHANDISE! As a thank you for helping us to reduce our environmental impact everyone who returns a full bag of recycling to the Recycling Points in the campsites can enter into a prize draw to win a bundle of merchandise. Ask a Green Messenger about this scheme. RECYCLING/RUBBISH Please use the bins and recycling areas provided, this all goes a long way to help with the clear up of the site and is good for the environment. We have a dedicated team of Green Messenger volunteers who are on hand to answer any queries you may have about the recycling system or environmental initiatives at the Festival. LOST PROPERTY Please hand in anything you might find to the Open Road staff in the Welfare tent. Please report any missing items to the Open Road staff before reporting it missing to the Police. Please visit vfestival.com after the festival for details on any unclaimed property. BE SAFE BE DRINKAWARE If you consume too much alcohol you may not be able to remember where your tent is, the campsites are large. Drink water in between alcohol and stay hydrated, we want you to remember your great weekend. DRUGS The law has changed, there is no such thing as a ‘legal high’ this includes Nitrous Oxide. NO illegal/unidentifiable/psychoactive substances or nitrous oxide is permitted into the site. Possession of any may lead to your ejection from the festival and arrest. Want to know more? You may be searched by security or the Police as a condition of entry to the festival site. Please use common sense when deciding what to bring. Anything illegal, prohibited from the festival or considered offensive will be confiscated and you may be asked to leave the festival site. Look after yourself and those around you. If you feel unwell you can visit one of the first aid points which are signposted in the arena and the campsites. Or visit our welfare team, Open Road in the Welfare Area in the arena close to Gate 2 or in red campsite. The Samaritans are also on hand if you wish to just talk. If you take medication please let your friends know and remember to bring it with you. There are areas inside the festival site which are designated no smoking areas. Please adhere to the signage in these areas or you may risk a fine from the local authority.. EMERGENCY SERVICES Full emergency services are present at the festival. Please make a note of the displayed on-site emergency telephone numbers and use them in the event of an emergency. CRIME STOPPERS If you know or suspect somebody of coming to V Festival to commit a crime you can contact the Police or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. If you see anybody acting suspiciously please alert a member of staff or the Police. THINGS TO REMEMBER • If you don’t need it don’t bring it • Leave valuables at home • Lock your vehicles and don’t leave anything of value visible • Pickpockets may operate in densely crowded areas, be vigilant and look after your wallet and mobile phone • Get to know your neighbours in the campsites, create a community spirit • Mark property with a postcode (but not your house keys) • Keep cash and possessions on you but not all in one place • If you are the designated driver, ensure you are safe to drive before you do so • Share your photo’s with us #V21st facebook.com/vfestival twitter.com/vfestival Instagram.com/vfestival
