The lake has four boat launches and is well used for recreational boating, fishing and birdwatching. They liked the area so much they ended up staying to build their own cultural communities. The short drive to Historic Markerville or the Hamlet of Dickson will reveal the fascinating heritage left by these great pioneers. 5 Red Deer River Discover Central Alberta’s Hidden Gem. His entourage accompanied by Cree Indians were on a fur trading mission sent out by the Hudson Bay Company. They first spotted the Rockies from a hill just east of Innisfail and then camped on the shores of Innisfail’s Napoleon Lake. PDSTC is the home of the Canadian National Police Service Dog monument which was created in memory of all Police Dogs killed in the line of duty for all Police Services in Canada.
