Newest Newsletter - District 4 Kin Canada
S P R I N G 2 0 1 6 Governors Message 2016 will be an EPIC year! With that being said, we are certainly excited about the upcoming months. With many projects and celebrations, the Day of Kindness and Founders day, District Curling, Spring Zones, Districts and Nationals; there is much to look forward to. Please let us know about your upcoming events, as we want to attend as many as possible! As we embark on a New Year there is both a time to reflect and a time for personal growth and challenges. What drives you to personal excellence? How can our clubs help develop in helping members achieve personal excellence while contributing to our communities? Consider these 5 ideas (loosely based on a few songs.) 1 . Party Rock Anthem- LMFAO: Everyone is unique so finding ways to ask club members what helps them feel invigorated can help in both knowing each other and finding ways to incorporate on-going engagement with all of your members. A fun quiz or game a focus group, or even an email. Starting the discussion can help focus on the positive. Working toward what you want- away from the complaint mode can greatly increase the clubs wellness. Have fun! 2. Dare to Move- Switchfoot : What do people need to become enthusiastic, supportive, effective members? In one word Give- give of your understanding, support, resources, information, and inspire confidence. Value both the star studded successes and the learning that comes with things that do not go as planned. The greatest successes are often how we have helped others in achieving their personal best. Challenge yourself to make positive changes, grow and try new things. 3- Good Feeling- Flo Rider: Motivational quotes, starting a meeting with the good of Kin, or encouraging recognition; however you chose to do this-- Share the good feeling. Create excitement and enthusiasm in the club by being excited and enthusiastic yourself. Don't forget about participating in and sharing your successes through participating in the District and National awards programs. Every member has a right to dignity and respect. Deal with behavior but not personality. If someone isn't performing or isn't present or has committed some kind of breach of conduct, deal firmly with it, don't broadcast it and be kind. Encourage people to get to the point where they want critical feedback and they love getting the lowdown because they know every bit of feedback is an opportunity to do better. Once you have a solution orientated attitude, individuals can't make mistakes, they can only create opportunities for continuous improvement. Believing your members do the best they can with what is going on in their lives is essential to create an atmosphere of trust and acceptance. Think of your fellow members one by one and establish three positive traits or attributes they have 5 - Jump Rope- Blue October and Dont Stop Believing- Journey How would your club score the overall wellness of the club? How about the effectiveness of the meetings? Create a list of the main areas to capture and for ratings less than 7/10 develop a plan for change to reach a 10. Sometimes things do get hard but life's like a jump rope- there will be ups and downs. However, w hat we are able to accomplish together is amazing. If you are looking for ideas or help in your club- we have a team of people to support you- so please connect with your DG, Service and Membership Directors, Risk Management , Webmaster or Governors. Best Wishes for your New Year, Dan Gosse and Corie Brand O ZONE UPDATE The clubs in our zone are currently busy bees getting all their events going as we enter into the second half of the Kin Year.
