The Wild Atlantic Way from Limerick to Donegal...
Ireland’s west coast boasts some of the world’s most spectacular scenery from the
towering Cliffs of Moher and the weird ‘lunar’ landscape of The Burren to wide,
almost deserted sandy beaches and picturesque seaside villages.
One thing all these have in common is that they offer superb views of the
Atlantic Ocean in all its moods, from crashing, storm-tossed breakers in
winter to gentle ripples on quieter, summer days.
However, head inland and there are ever more attractions to be
explored. The medieval city of Limerick boasts a 13th century castle
overlooking the River Shannon, while just outside the city is Bunratty
Castle and Folk Park, set in 26 acres and recreating a 19th century Irish
village with school, church, blacksmith’s shop and ‘Durty Nellie’s’ pub.
For a real cosmopolitan feel, Galway City is a chilled-out destination with
traditional pubs, buskers, street theatre and quirky shops. Galway has
quiet roads making it very easy for you to explore this region in your own
car - known as ‘Connemara’ with the 12 Bens Mountain range providing a
wonderful backdrop. With its combination of awe-inspiring scenery, fascinating
heritage and warm welcome, the west coast of Ireland won’t fail to impress.
Westport in Co. Mayo nestles in the shadow of Croagh Patrick, one of Europe’s best
known places of Pilgrimage. Few towns can match Westport’s charisma or appealing continental flavour, cheerful,
multi-coloured shop fronts jostle for attention along with a bewildering array of pubs, shops, cafes and restaurants.
A must to see are Westport House and Kylemore Abbey or why not cross the bridge to Achill Island and explore its
magnificent sandy beaches. Sligo is one of the northwest’s most scenic counties and was the inspiration for poet
WB Yeats who called it ‘The Land of Heart’s Desire’ and whose final resting place is beneath the beautiful
Benbulben Mountains. Meander down country lanes experience beauties such as the Lake Isle of Innisfree,
Glencar’s towering landscape - gouged by glaciers some 12,000 years ago - or stroll along Rosses Point for
breathtaking views out across the Atlantic Ocean. As you travel north into Donegal the seaside town of Bundoran
has been favoured by Irish holidaymakers for many years, with the coastline offering endless miles of sandy
beaches from Rossapenna to towering Malin Head, Ireland’s most northerly point.
As you drive through this region you will not wish to break any speed records, but will find it essential to linger a
little longer to savour the breathtaking scenery and maybe enjoy some ‘craic’ with some of the locals.

Deposit If you book your holiday before 17 March 2014 our standard deposit fee of £100 is lowered to £50 to secure your holiday (full payment is payable if
