CAC of Pike County, Inc. May 2008 Newsletter CAC of Pike County Social Services Department is now part of The Ohio Benefit Bank CAC of Pike County has trained Benefit Bank Counselors available to assist customers in finding services they may eligible for within the community. Services that customers may be eligible for are: child care subsidies, food stamps, health insurance, home energy assistance, and locate free tax assistance in the community. The counselors are on hand to help customers navigate through the Ohio Benefit Bank Sit. Customers need to call the Social Services Department at CAC to schedule an appointment with a counselor. Interested individuals should bring at least four recent pay stubs, a W2 or 1099 from 2007, the Social Security numbers for everyone living in the home and most recent heating bill with them when they come to the OBB site. The Ohio Benefit Bank is a network of public and private sites that work with and compliment the State in its efforts to reduce poverty and the ill-effects of poverty. Each year, millions of individuals and families fail to receive the money and benefits due to them and - - as a result - - more than $35 billion in government benefits go unclaimed annually. The Benefit Bank helps connect people to these resources. The Benefit Bank is a program of Solutions for Progress, Inc., a public policy consulting firm working for social change. The program receives support from foundations and other funding partners through the National Council of Churches USA, a founding supporter of The Benefit Bank. For more information on this program contact the Social Services Department. Don’t forget Mother’s Day on May 11th. Digital TV Transition Information On February 17, 2009, television stations around the country will discontinue analog broadcasts and only broadcast in digital. So what does this mean to us? Consumers that have analog TV sets and rely on “rabbit ears” or rooftop antennas to receive free broadcast signals will need to obtain a separate digital-toanalog converter to watch their TV or lose service. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is offering all U.S. households up to two coupons (while supplies last), worth $40 each, to be used toward the purchase of digital-to-analog converters. If you have a TV with digital tuners or the TVs are connected to cable, satellite or other pay TV services will not need a converter to continue to receive TV programming. For your coupon go to www.dtv2009.gov.
