Need requests are submitted through local partners and can be anything from clothing, transportation, food, money or simply prayer. Once the request has been received and verified, One Need sends out the Need Alert. Those who respond are then connected with the organization, individual or family in need. If you have a need (a “Needer”) or if you would like to learn about needs that you might be able to meet (a “Deeder”), visit the website of Parents with a Purpose at www.parentswithapurpose.com, and click on the “One Need” tab. THANKS TO OUR PARTNERS IT’S A SMALL WORLD We’d like to express our thanks to our many partners who worked so diligently on the Fall Festival. We regret that the weather made it necessary to cancel, but we are looking forward to next year’s event! Special thanks to Roswell Street Baptist Church, Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, Milford Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Marietta. We appreciate you! FEEDING THE COMMUNITY… THE ATLANTA COMMUNITY FOOD BANK Special thanks to all of you who helped make our food drive to benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank a huge success. We collected over 6,174 food items and more than $4,495 in contributions. Did you know…? :: 1 in every 7.5 people (an estimated 755,400) in metro Atlanta and North Georgia turn to food pantries and meal service programs to help feed themselves and their families. :: 80,600 people are served each week by programs supported by the ACFB. Founded in 1979, the ACFB procures more than 60 million pounds of food each year and distributes to more than 60 non-profits serving families in 29 metro and North Georgia counties. For more information or to volunteer, visit www.acfb.org. Ciji Tatum, a resident of Walton Westside, recently traveled to Egypt as part of a 14-person tour group. While there, she met two other gentlemen from Atlanta that she didn’t know. They began to chat about Atlanta and were in awe that they had traveled across the world to meet. After the trip was over and she returned home, she ran into one of those same gentlemen again in the hallway at Walton Westside! As it happened, he was her next door neighbor. She literally met her next door neighbor in Egypt…on the other side of the world. You don’t have to travel to the far reaches of the earth to meet your neighbors – just attend one of the events at your community, designed to make your neighbors your friends! BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE Walton Communities builds communities that can stand the test of time. We build with the future in mind. Everything from our landscaping to our programs is planned far in advance to improve with age. Barry Teague, one of the owners of Walton Communities, says, “When we plan a new community, we think about what we would like it to look like – both now and in the future. Each tree and shrub is carefully selected to complement the streetscape and to create that neighborhood feel. Even in our Book Program, we are constantly looking for ways to improve and ways to offer a variety of books that will include the Classics, biographies and inspirational stories.” BOOK OF THE MONTH Each month, it is our pleasure to offer our residents a complimentary Book of the Month. Just stop by the Community Office the first week of each month to pick up your FREE book to add to your home library. Hurry! Supplies are limited!
