THIS WEEK
The No. 20 Oregon women’s golf team competes Monday and Tuesday, March 3 and

rounds will be played Monday beginning with an 8:30 a.m. (PT) shotgun start. Tuesday’s final round will also go off at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
THE FIELD
The 2014 Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational will boast a field of 13 teams. For the second straight tournament, the Ducks will be the highest ranked team in the field by
Golfstat.
No. 20 Oregon will be joined by UC Davis (35), New Mexico (67), San José State (77),
Portland State (82), Cal State Fullerton (84), San Francisco (89), Coastal Carolina (92),
Nevada (95), Fresno State (101), Santa Clara (105), Colorado State (121) and Boise

THE COURSE
Almaden Golf and Country Club is a prestigious club located in the beautiful Almaden
Valley of San Jose. The par-72 championship golf course takes full advantage of the
135 acres of beautiful terrain and plays 6,960 yards long. Tree lined fairways, occasional water, and strategically placed bunkers and hazards set the tone for our course,
which is challenging and appreciated by golfers of every ability. The Almaden Country Club hosted the LPGA and Nike Tour for over 14 years, as well as zone qualifying
for the U.S. Amateur Tournament.
OREGON AT THE JULI INKSTER SPARTAN INVITATIONAL
Oregon will be making its eighth appearance at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational.
UO’s top finish in the event came in 2012, when the Ducks placed runner-up with a

UO CARDS LOWEST ALL-TIME TOURNAMENT SCORE
Oregon broke the program record for lowest tournament score vs. par with a runnerup finish at the Westbrook Spring Invitational. The Ducks finished with a 54-hole score
of 848 (-16) at the Vistas Course of the Westbrook Village Golf Course. Oregon bested
the school record for the lowest tournament score against par for the second time this
season after closing at 16-under. That mark topped the old record, set this fall at the
Pac-12 Preview, by six strokes. The Ducks also tied the program record for lowest overall tournament score. Junior Cassy Isagawa and freshman Cathleen Santoso placed
runner-up in the 78 player field after going nine-under (207) through three rounds.
Their 207 scores rank tied for the second best tournament score in program history.
SANTOSO CARDS UO’S BEST EVER ROUND
Freshman Cathleen Santoso broke the program record for lowest round by two strokes,
firing a 63 (-9) in the second round of the Westbrook Spring Invitational. She carded
a 31 (-5) on the front nine and a 32 (-4) on the back side without a single bogey. She
closed the tournament at nine-under to set a new career low tournament score.
ISAGAWA GOING LOW THIS SPRING
In all five rounds this spring, junior Cassy Isagawa has broken par. The Wailuku, Hawaii,
native has a 69.6 round average in the spring season, lowering her overall season round
average to 71.65. Isagawa has provided Oregon’s top finish in 4-of-7 tournaments this
season and has played 12-of-20 rounds at or below par. As it stands, her round average
of 71.65 is a full stroke lower than the season round average program record.
INGLIS TALLYING CONSISTENT SCORES
Sophomore Caroline Inglis collected her fourth top 11 individual finish of the season
after tying for 11th at the Westbrook Spring Invitational. The Eugene native has a 73.6
round average this season to anchor the Duck lineup. Her 54-hole score of 215 (-1) last
week set a new season best score, besting her old mark by three strokes.
OREGON ON PACE FOR HISTORIC RECORD
The Ducks have posted a 296.5 team round average this season, which is nearly three
strokes lower than the program record. Oregon has placed in the top six in all seven
tournaments and has carded the three lowest team rounds vs. par in program history.
OREGON IN PURSUIT OF ANOTHER NCAA APPERANCE
The Ducks are looking to advance to the NCAA Championships for the third time in
the past five seasons under head coach Ria Scott. The Ducks qualified in 2013 (22nd)
and 2010 (T23rd). Oregon has qualified for NCAA Regional action in each of the past
four seasons, marking the program’s longest postseason streak since reaching regionals nine years in a row from 1993-2002.
SCOTT SIGNS TWO PREP STANDOUTS
The Ducks signed two prep seniors to the 2014-15 freshmen class. The Ducks received
National Letters of Intent from Megan Conder (Brentwood, Calif.) and Kelsey Ulep
(Rocklin, Calif.). Conder and Ulep are both prized recruits out of California and will enter
the University of Oregon as freshmen next season. Both recruits are four-time MVPs on
their respective high school girls’ golf teams.
OREGON ON PACE FOR HISTORIC RECORD
Following the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational, the Ducks will take a three week break
before returning to play with the SDSU Farms Invitational on March 24-26.
JULI INKSTER SPARTAN INVITATIONAL
Ria Scott is in her fifth
season at the helm of

A graduate of the University
of California, Berkeley, Scott
was hired in June of 2009
after a successful run as
head coach at the University of San Francisco.
Since then, Scott has guided Oregon to NCAA
postseason play in all four seasons, marking
the program’s longest postseason streak since
reaching regionals nine years in a row from
1993-2002. Prior to her arrival, Oregon hadn’t
advanced to the NCAA Finals in 10 straight
seasons.
The Ducks have advanced to the NCAA
Regionals in four straight seasons and to the
NCAA Championships in 2010 – Scott’s first
season – and last season in 2013. In the two
seasons UO didn’t advance past regionals
with Scott, the Ducks were one stroke shy of
moving on.
Under Scott’s guidance, the Ducks have
finished the season ranked no worse than
35th nationally in each of the past four years
and have made a habit of being ranked in
the top 25. Oregon has also posted 20 top
five team finishes since 2009, including three
championships, and four individual medalist
honors.

In the 2013 fall season, the Ducks placed in the
top six in all five tournaments, had a win-loss
record of 50-17 and improved to No. 17 in the
GolfStat.com national rankings.
Last season (2012-13), Scott and the Ducks

eighth time in program history. Competing on
the UGA Golf Course in Athens, Ga., the Ducks
placed 22nd in the loaded field and finished
the season ranked 35th. UO advanced after

The Ducks climbed as high as No. 12 in the

posting four top five team finishes and
qualifying to the NCAA Central Regional.
The season was highlighted by two runnerup team finishes and a 54-hole score of 848
(-4) at the Stanford Intercollegiate, which is
the program’s best tournament score by 15

missing the cut by a single stroke. Scott also
coached Cassy Isagawa to one of the most
impressive individual seasons ever recorded
by a Duck. Isagawa, as a true freshman, carded
UO’s lowest ever round average (72.7) with five
top five individual finishes, earning first team
All-Pac-12 honors and Golfweek All-American
First Team accolades.
Scott and the Ducks have re-written the
UO record books as of late, posting three of
the school’s top four team season scoring
averages (299.64/11.64 vs. par) and the
top five individual season scoring averages
(72.76/0.94 vs. par). Scott’s teams have also
posted six of the top seven lowest team round
scores (282/-10) and four of the top five lowest
team tournament scores (848/-4) in UO history.
Individually, the Ducks have also posted six of
the top seven lowest round scores (65/-7) and

program record for lowest average team score
vs. par (11.64) and won two tournaments – the
UNM Dick McGuire Invitational (881) and the
Pacific Coast Intercollegiate (891). The Ducks
posted six top six team finishes. Individually,
Erica Omlid and Kendra Little posted the
third and fourth best season scoring averages
vs. par in program history. The Ducks placed
ninth at the NCAA West Regional, two strokes
above their seeding, and missed the cut by
one stroke. The Ducks closed the season
ranked 34th nationally with a 299.64 team
round average.
Scott’s Ducks have also achieved in the class
room, collecting a combined seven allconference academic honors.
In her first season with the program (2009-10),
Scott guided the Ducks to its best-ever Pac10 Championship finish and led the Ducks to
their first NCAA Championship trip in 10 years.
The Eugene Country Club, organized in 1899, is the second oldest
country club in the State, antedated only by Waverley of Portland.
In 1912, the club was incorporated and acquired its first clubhouse
on South Willamette Street.
In 1923, the Young-Ford-McAllister properties were purchased
and Chandler Egan, one of the nation’s greatest tournament golfers, was engaged to lay out a new 18-hole golf course. Over the
years this course with its natural setting among tall firs and other
scenic wonderments developed a reputation as one of the finest
golf courses on the Pacific Coast.
Host of the 2008 U.S. Women’s Amateur, the Eugene Country
Club is consistently ranked top 100 in the nation, including 43rd
nationally in 2006 by Golf week and 100th by Golf Digest. The
private course is also the third ranked track in Oregon. It also
hosted the 1991, 2000 and 2010 Women’s Pacific-12 Conference
Championships, 1987 and 1997 Men’s Pacific-10 Championships,
and the 1959 and 1978 Men’s NCAA Championships. The venue
also has a covered teaching facility with a JC Video and TrackMan
ball flight analysis system.
