Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue
Getting ready to walk
down the aisle? Are you
hesitating with the details,
like what kind of ring you
are going to wear for the
rest of your life, or what to
give the bridesmaids that
will go with your not-soconventional theme? Let
us help!
Weddings are richly traditional ceremonies, and
one of the greatest traditions is the originality of
the jewelry. Don’t settle
for a silver or gold band,
when you can have iridescent mother of pearl set in
white gold, or vibrant turquoise set with diamonds
in any color gold, or even
platinum. His and hers, our
bridal collection includes
truly unique rings that are
handcrafted by master
jewelers.
The wedding and honeymoon are often the focal
points, but what is really
important is the life that is
lived after the wedding, the
promise that is made at the
ceremony is only the beginning. Celebrate such a
beginning with something
that represents a lifetime
together; a wedding ring
that you made your own,
a symbol of the unique,
beautiful, crazy and original love that you share.
Don’t see something
that strikes your fancy? We
have a full range of customization options - yes,
you can design your own
wedding ring! You can
pick the settings, the inlay
stones, the diamond quality, everything. Whether
you want color or sparkle
or both; we have the ability to help you design your
perfect ring.
Or say you are looking
for bridal party gifts; want
to have the guys all wear
bolos and the girls have
turquoise necklaces and
matching cowboy boots?
Thinking about that special
strand of pearls or breathtaking pendant that will go
with the wedding dress? Our signature artists have
taken the traditional and
made them their own;

A truly unforgettable Lakes Region wedding
Couples looking for a
beautiful and affordable
wedding in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region have
a wonderful option right
in downtown Laconia. The
Belknap Mill and the adjacent gazebo in Riverside
Park offer a unique setting
for an outdoor wedding
and inside reception that is
flexible in all its elements.
The Belknap Mill, the
oldest, unaltered brick
textile mill in the country,
serves as a cultural, historical, and educational center
with programs for all ages;
but it also has a third-floor
function room whose original brick walls and wooden
floors are open to any
decorative style. Set your
COURTESY of The Belknap Mill imagination free to deco-
rate the hall in keeping
with your wedding theme
while choosing your own
caterer or even enlisting
friends and family members to prepare the food in
the kitchen area.
With great views of the
city during the day and a
shimmering atmosphere
at night, the Rose Chertok
Gallery can accommodate
as many as 220 people,
with elevator access, rest
rooms, and folding chairs
available for use. There also
is plenty of room for dancing and the technical capacity for video and sound
systems to get people out
on the dance floor.
Rotary Park is next door,
with a beautiful gazebo
and landscaped grounds
maintained by the Laconia Parks and Recreation
Department.
Although
the park is managed by
the city, the Belknap Mill
handles bookings for those
who want to use the gazebo, making your wedding
planning a one-stop affair.
And, should the weather
not cooperate, the ceremonies easily can be moved
inside with a minimum of
hassle.
As one of the most affordable places to hold an
event, the Mill typically
handles 100 weddings
each year, so booking early
is recommended. Call 5248813 for further details,
and have your wedding
your way, in a beautiful
setting.
To hire or not to hire? The wedding photographer debate
Let’s face it – it seems
like everyone today has a
nice camera and most can
take nice photos. I bet that
there are plenty of people
attending your wedding
that post beautiful photos
on Facebook all the time.
Maybe some even dabble
in photography – they
have taken some family
portraits or pictures of your
friend’s new baby that are
simply spectacular. Surely,
you have looked at their
pictures and thought that
they could take photos at
your wedding. Surely, they
have offered to do just
that on your wedding day.
Why not? After all, it could
mean saving a substantial
amount of money…money that could otherwise be
spent on wedding favors,
extra cake or your honeymoon!
So why would you use
that extra cake money for
a photographer that is just
going to take the same
photos that your friends
and family will take? Simply stated – because they
won’t.
Think about your wedding day. What do you want
to remember? Ask friends
and family who have been
through it – the day goes
by in a blur, in a whirlwind
of activity and well wishes,
dances and cake cutting,
hellos and good-byes. If
you hire a true professional
photographer – one that
knows the difference between taking pictures and
capturing moments, you
will relive those moments
when you receive your
wedding photos in one
great little package. From
the ceremony and formal
photos to those special
candid moments that only
the best can capture – the
COURTESY of KMCooke Photography
loving glance at one another when you think no
one else is looking (or you
forget that everyone else is
still there), to the fist bump
that you gave your new
husband in the middle of
the reception, to the tear
in your mother’s eye as you
dance with your father.
Capturing moments –
sounds a bit cliché doesn’t
it? But it is true. There is
more to professional wedding photography than
taking nice photographs
– it is about capturing the
moments by using the
right equipment, knowing
the right angles, creating
the right light, managing
people, and doing it all
without you noticing how
much work it is – then bundling it all into one package
for you. It is about capturing your personal style and
personality, and knowing
what makes your wedding
unique.
A professional photographer brings more to the
table than just camera
equipment – which is a
whole article in itself – he/
she also brings other skills
that are rarely considered
when making the decision whether to hire a pro
or not. Wedding photography is different than all
other kinds of photography. There are no do-over
moments; every single moment of the day is a onetime shot. If your camera
suddenly refuses to focus,
you can’t stand up during
the ceremony and ask the
bride and groom to hold
on a minute while you
figure out what is wrong
(hence I bring two cameras
with me and a second photographer with a third). If
you miss the first kiss, you
miss the first kiss.
Plus, a pro can delicately
take control after the ceremony and has the ability to organize people
quickly and efficiently to
keep on schedule during
the all-important formal
photos (while your guests
enjoy cocktail hour). We
know which photos need
to be taken and which order is best. I like to take all
the large group shots first
including all the family
members, then the bridal
party, and finally narrow
it down to just the bride
and groom. At that point,
I give them a moment to
breathe. To take it all in, to
have a moment where it is
just the two of them and
hopefully they will forget
about me for a minute and I
can capture that one photo
that no one else could get
– because it is the one they
don’t even know I am taking. More often than not, a
bride will tell me that photo is their favorite because
it was their stolen moment
in what is otherwise a very
busy day.
You know why we can
do all of the things noted
above? Because it is our
job. It is our sole purpose
for being at your wedding.
We aren’t saying hi to old
friends, we aren’t stuck in
a conversation with Aunt
Marge, and most importantly, we aren’t grabbing
a glass of champagne or
checking out the guy in the
band. We are there to do a
job; we are not guests at
your wedding. A wedding
photographer is there for
the sole purpose of capturing the moments of your
incredibly special day, and
doing it well.
Last but not least, if you
rely on friends and family
to take pictures, they come
at you from all angles and
it can be a daunting task
to organize them into one
package that captures
your whole day. It can also
be difficult when you realize that friends and family
have access to the open
bar and dance floor and
forget that they promised
to document your wedding day in exquisite detail. Still asking whether
to hire a photographer or
not? Think of it this way – I
have never heard anyone
say that they regretted
hiring someone, but often
hear people regret their
decision not to – but then
it is too late to get those
once in a lifetime photographs again. There are no
do-overs in wedding photography.

The hottest wedding trends for 2014
Some of the hottest 2014
wedding trends were discussed at a recent networking seminar Music Fantasy
DJs attended last month,
hosted by The Knot (the
nation’s leading wedding
resource)
The 90s are making a
big comeback, an era that
definitely was considered
the party decade, and 90’s
inspired details are all the
rave this year. Ideas to incorporate: Billboard’s Hot
100 music from the 90’s,
hip hop music groups, even
break dancers to entertain
the guests and temporary
tattoo wedding favors!
The after party is becoming popular too – couples
love to party and many
want their weddings to last
as long as possible. Once
the reception ends, the
party can continue, a great
way to keep the fun going… change up the style
and the vibe and move the
party into another room ,
or even a totally different
venue. Brides and Grooms
are planning a completely
different décor look for
their after party and that
includes couture late night
comfort food bites and creative custom drinks. Don’t
forget to arrange for transportation, so guests don’t
have to drive afterwards!
Music Fantasy Weddings,
professional wedding DJs
and entertainment specialists, are members of the
American Disc Jockey Association and have earned an
impeccable reputation for
delivering personal, professional and exceptional service. They are considered
experts in their field of entertainment and specialize
in weddings.
Very proud to say Music
Fantasy Weddings has been
awarded the WeddingWire
Couples’ Choice Award
2014! The winners of the
award are determined by
recent reviews from newylyweds, recognizing the
top 5 percent of Wedding
Professionals in the Wedding Wire Network.

Popcorn isn’t just for movies anymore
Time magazine named
gourmet popcorn the hottest snack food of 2013 and
its popularity is still growing. Gourmet popcorn is
“popping up” everywhere,
including weddings.
Most of you are probably
familiar with “candy bars/
buffets”. Well move over
candy because it’s popcorns’ turn. With the vast
array of savory to sweet
flavor options that most
gourmet popcorn shops
offer, you are sure to find
flavors for all your guests
to enjoy.
When purchased in
bulk, it can be set up as a
popcorn buffet for your
guests to pick and choose
the flavors they want to
munch on while celebratCOURTESY of Claudia Bello ing your special day or you
can break it down yourself
to make table favors for
each guest to take home
and enjoy.
Savory flavors, such as
cheddar or salt & vinegar,
work especially well with
evening weddings when
you want your guests to
be snacking on something while celebrating
into the late hours. Sweet
flavors, such as caramel or
white chocolate, will make
a great addition to your
dessert line-up or in place
of other desserts. Either
way, gourmet popcorn is
a versatile, fun food that
most people love to eat.
So “pop” into a local shop,
try out different flavor options, and consider popcorn for your wedding.

Trolleys make for fun, efficient wedding transportation
Transportation may not
sound like one of the more
exciting tasks on a wedding
to-do-list, but it is one of the
most important and can, if
arranged thoughtfully, make
that special day a bit more
special.
Here in the Lakes Region,

the wedding party to the
site first, arriving in plenty of
time for ushers to seat guests
as they arrive, then returns
with the ladies in the wedding party just in time for the
ceremony.
With seating for 34 passengers, the trolley then brings
the entire wedding party,
(and a few extras if they like)
to the reception all together.
When both the ceremony
and reception are at the
same venue, Molley is called
on to provide transportation
for wedding guests who are
not staying on site.
Family lakefront homes
are often the first choice for
many couples getting married, but parking is almost always limited. Here again, the
trolley can efficiently shuttle
more than a hundred guests
to and from that special site
and do it with style.
Molley the Trolley is also
available for rehearsal dinners and ‘after parties.”
“She can be a bit of a
night owl,” said owner Kathy
Eaton, who both drives the
trolley and makes all special
event reservations. “She’ll
stay out late as necessary
to make sure everyone gets
where they need to go, safe
and sound.”

the year including WildQuest camps, public programs, field trips, and longterm partnerships with
local elementary schools.
The 160 acre historic family farm features woodland
and field trails, a “green”
building with geothermal
and solar energy systems,
historic barns, an old-fashioned maple sugaring operation (during the month
of March), heritage gardens, and forested pond.
Prescott Farm is open yearround, seven days a week
