Archive
Spector CNE automates the process of archiving and protecting your recordings by including a tool (the Data Vault) that will securely store and
organize your PC recordings on a network server. If you don’t have the ability to centralize to a server, the recordings can be saved on the local
computer and viewed remotely across your network.
Your recordings can be archived using one of the following methods:
Centralized Archiving
Single Network Server
The Data Vault is responsible for data storage and security. It is installed in a secure
location on your network (computer or
server). Individual client computers will
automatically upload their recordings to
the Data Vault where the data is organized
for effortless retrieval and review, all while
protecting the recordings from tampering
and unauthorized access.
All recordings contained in the Data
Vault can be automatically retrieved and
reviewed across the network – eliminating
the need to physically visit each PC.
Multiple Network Servers
With Multiple Servers you can organize your
recordings by department, office floor, building
location or any other category you choose.
This provides you with control over where
the data is stored on your network and offers a method for segmenting Spector CNE
data storage. Each server has its own Data
Vault. Groups of PCs are then assigned to
this server group and will automatically
upload their recordings to the appropriate
Data Vault.
The recordings in each server group can
be automatically retrieved and reviewed
across the network.
Localized Archiving
Local PC Hard Drive
Every PC running Spector CNE will automatically store the recordings on the local hard
drive. Spector CNE will save these recordings
for a time period of your choice. All recordings can be automatically retrieved and
reviewed across the network – eliminating
the need to physically visit each PC.

Review
The Spector CNE Viewer is used to review the activity of any
recorded PC. The recordings are retrieved from the Archive source,
loaded into the Viewer and organized by activity type (Email,
Chat/IM, etc...)
Just as the Spector CNE recordings can be stored in one central
location, they can be reviewed from one central location from any
PC on the network.
The tool that accomplishes this is the Spector CNE Viewer. Simply
select which computer you wish to review. Spector CNE automatically retrieves the recordings, wherever they are stored, and displays
that information on your computer monitor.
The recorded data is organized under six tabs: Email, Web Sites
Visited, Chat/IM, Keystrokes typed, Programs Run and Snapshots.

While the amount of recorded information can be substantial, CNE
organizes it in such a way that makes it easy and intuitive for you to
navigate down to the last detail.
As an example: Click on Chat/IM, and you will see a summary of all
chats and instant messages recorded each day by CNE. Click on the
one-line summary and you will see the entire conversation.
For really fast searching, tell CNE to SEARCH for occurrences of a
particular word or phrase. Spector CNE then searches all emails, all
chats and instant messages, all web sites visited and all keystrokes
typed and then shows you everywhere this word/phrase was encountered by the person(s) using that computer. And, in case more
than one person uses the same computer, Spector CNE tells you
which person each recorded piece of information refers to.

Manage
Spector CNE includes a software tool called the Control Center that allows you to remotely manage, configure and monitor all PCs on your office
network. You never have to physically visit individual PCs.

Managing deployment of Spector CNE in your organization
is a breeze. Each computer on your network can be sent an
invisible file that will initiate installation of the Spector CNE
Recorder. Installation occurs on the PC at the date and time
you specify and is completely undetectable by the user.
Likewise, the Recorder can be uninstalled transparently from
within the Control Center.
A built-in Deployment Utility is used to create configurations
for remote installations allowing you to predetermine which
elements of the Recorder are active upon installation and finetune other settings. These configuration files can be saved and
reused as part of additional installations.

Spector CNE offers the flexible recording options you need.
For instance, you may wish to only record email on one PC
while recording chat and instant messages on another.
With a single click, you can view which elements of the
Recorder are active and inactive at each individual computer.
Configuring these settings or simply turning the Recorder ON
or OFF can be accomplished from within the Control Center.

The Control Center integrates the Viewer which is designed to
retrieve individual computer recordings and display them on
your screen.
The Viewer allows you to review all recorded Email, Chat/
Instant Messages, Keystrokes, Web Sites Visited, Program
Activity and Snapshots.

MMC Snap-In
The Spector CNE Control Center is a standard MMC (Microsoft Management Console) Snap-In. By using the Windows
MMC framework, Spector CNE will minimize your ongoing
administration costs by providing simplicity, consistency and
integration across your existing network.
System administrators will find the Spector CNE interface
familiar and will be productive from the start without any
special training.
Microsoft Management Console (MMC) is included in the
Windows XP and Windows 2000 operating systems.

“Spectorsoft has solved some big problems for us. We found out, completely by mistake, that a large number of our staff were playing computer games and chatting on

“Since the installation of Spector CNE on a number of our computers in the office,
internet abuse and inter-company email (gossip) has nearly been eliminated.
The installation of our network two years ago together with fast internet access was
a huge temptation to our 30 employees. This -- in combination with computer games
being used after the lunch hour was over -- was costing us huge amounts in lost time.
