THIS PROJECT USES PRECISE 1/4” SEAMS. TEST SEAM ALLOWANCE, BY CUTTING (2) 2-1/2” X 5” RECTANGLES. STITCH TOGETHER VIA 5” EDGE.
AT THE MIDPOINT, MEASURE ACROSS THE UNIT. IT SHOULD BE EXACTLY 4-1/2” WIDE. IF NOT, ADJUST YOUR SEAM ALLOWANCE AND REPEAT.

D2 1. DF UNIT: Sew together (1) TEMPLATE D1, (1) TEMPLATE D2 and (1) TEMPLATE F together as shown in diagram.

Square to 4-1/2". Make 24 DF units. Set aside.
2. EF UNIT: Place right sides together (1) E and (1) F 2-7/8" square. Draw a diagonal line on wrong side of E
fabric. Sew a 1/4" seam on both sides of drawn line, then cut on drawn line. Press open (2) EF units. Square
to 2-1/2". Make 48 EF units.
3. EF 4-PATCH: Sew (2) EF units and (2) F 2-1/2" squares into a 4-PATCH as in diagram. NOTE PROPER ROTATION AND
PLACEMENT OF EF UNITS. Square to 4-1/2". Make 24 EF 4-PATCHES.
4. AF UNIT: Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) F 2-1/2" square. Place F square right sides together
on one corner of (1) A 4-1/2" square and sew on diagonal line. Press F open towards A corner. Trim excess
fabric on reverse side to 1/4". Repeat steps for the remaining three corners. Square to 4-1/2".
Make 6 AF units.

5. STAR BLOCK: Sew (1) AF unit, (4) EF 4-PATCH units and (4) DF units together into a 9-PATCH block as in
diagram. Square to 12-1/2". Make 6 STAR BLOCKS. Set aside.
6. BC1 UNIT: Similar to step 4. AF UNIT corner assembly, take (2) B 2-1/2" squares and sew one to opposite corners of (1)
C 4-7/8" square, as shown in diagram. Square to 4-7/8". Then cut BC unit in half diagonally across empty corners. Make 24
BC1 TRIANGLE UNITS.
7. BCF1 UNIT: Sew (1) F 2-1/2" x 6-7/8" strip to (1) BC1 unit as shown in diagram below. F strip will extend beyond BC1 unit
about 2", without pressing (due to exposed bias) direct seam toward F fabric. Then carefully trim F strip as shown in diagram.
Make 24 BCF1 units.
8. BCF2 UNIT: Similar to step 6. and 7. make BCF2 units using B 4-7/8" squares, C 2-1/2" squares and F 2-1/2" x 6-7/8" strips.

Make 24 BCF2 units.
9. BCF BLOCK: Sew (1) BCF1 and (1) BCF2 UNITS together, as shown in diagram. Square to 6-1/2". Make 24 BCF blocks.
10. PINWHEEL BLOCK: Take (4) BCF blocks and sew together into a 4-PATCH, as shown in diagram to make pinwheel illusion.
NOTE PROPER ROTATION AND PLACEMENT OF BCF BLOCKS. Square to 12-1/2". Make 6 PINWHEEL BLOCKS.
ROW ASSEMBLY
11. Using F 2-1/2" x 12-1/2" strips, STAR BLOCKS and PINWHEEL BLOCKS, make rows as shown below. Trim to 12-1/2" x 44-1/2".

12. BF SASHING STRIPS: Sew (4) B 2-1/2" squares and (3) F 2-/2" x 12-1/2" strips together as shown in diagram. Trim to 2-1/2"
x 44-1/2". Make 5 BF SASHING STRIPS.

QUILT ASSEMBLY REFER TO QUILT DIAGRAM ON PAGE 4. FOR FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS.
13. Sew (1) BF SASHING STRIP to top of ROWS 1-4. Add remaining BF SASHING STRIP to bottom of ROW 4. Then sew ROW 1 to ROW 2
and so forth.
BORDER ASSEMBLY MEASURE WIDTH AND LENGTH OF QUILT TOP TO ENSURE B AND G BORDER CUTTING SIZES. BELOW ARE OUR SIZES.
14. B BORDER: Sew (1) B 2-1/2" x (58-1/2") strip to each side of quilt top. Then sew (1) B 2-1/2" x (48-1/2") strip to top and
to bottom of quilt top.
15. G BORDER (DAISIES): FOR G BORDER USE YOUR QUILTING SOURCE ON “HOW TO” FOR MITERED CORNERS. Center and sew (1) G 6-1/2" x !76"
1/2"# strip to each side of quilt top. Next center and sew (1) G 6-1/2" x !62"# strip to top and bottom of quilt top. Miter the
corners and trim excess overlapping fabric.
FINISHING Cut batting and backing 3" larger than top on all sides. Layer backing, batting and top together and baste or pin.
After quilting, trim excess batting and backing. Bind as usual.
FINISHED SIZE: 60" X 74".
