Golden Spread Council, Boy Scouts of America 201 2014 Golden Eagle District PINEWOOD DERBY DERBY WHO: Pack 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Winners in the Tiger Cub, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos (1st and 2nd years will race together) Divisions from all area Cub Packs. There is also an OPEN DIVISION, where you need not have raced or won prior to compete & Senior Scouts are welcome to enter and compete. District-Wide Derby Racing Classes: • These races are open to anyone. Cub Scouts will race against other boys of the same rank from across the district. Everyone is invited even if your car didn’t place at the unit level competition. WHEN: Saturday, May 17th, 2014 10:00-11:30 AM 12:00 PM 12:30 PM 3:00 PM (Approximately) Races between Cub Scout cars built after August 2013. Weigh-In (required) LUNCH!! Racing Begins Awards Ceremony WHERE: NEW LOCATION!!!! Westgate Mall Amarillo – Center Court COST: Each car entry that is racing will cost $7. The cars will be run on a track with an electronic timer and will race against the clock. Each car will run 3 or 4 times (depending on the track configuration). The fastest cars will be the cars with the fastest average time of all their runs. The trophies to be presented will be in the following categories: • Top 3 fastest Tiger Cubs • Top 3 fastest Wolf Scouts • Top 3 fastest Bear Scouts • Top 3 fastest 1st or 2nd Year Webelos Scouts (three trophies total) • • • Best Overall Time Turtle/Slowest Time Top in the Display Division- Best of Show • Display only competition where Pinewood Derby cars are displayed to compete for the prestigious Best of Show award. - Best of Show in Appearance The Display-only competition is an OPEN division, meaning anyone, regardless of age may enter. Cars entered in the display-only competition can participate in any of the other races. Display only cars do not need to be weighed-in, but will need to be registered during the weigh-in time. Pinewood Derby Racing Competition: Each Scout can register to race only 1 car. Each car participating in a race must register and weigh in as described below. The registration form for each car racing in a derby must be received at the Scout Office at 401 Tascosa Rd. in Amarillo by Noon on Wednesday, May14th. Registration forms can be delivered to the office or be payed over the phone. Call the Scout Office @ 806358-6500 to reserve your spot. Please make sure car meets the Official Rules as outlined on the Golden Eagle District webpage. See the website for details before bringing it to the inspection/weigh-in. www.goldenspread.org All cars that will be RACING in the Competition must be inspected, weighed-in, and impounded on the morning of the race (May 17th between 10-11:00 AM). Cars will be inspected to make sure that they meet the Official Rules of the competition.
