She moved to a new role as Product Regulatory Manager on 1 May 2011 and is responsible for the product Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) regulatory affairs and assurance for Downstream in APME. Ms Yeung was nominated as the Singapore Regulatory Affairs Committee Chairman for the Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC) with effect from 8 December 2010. She appointed as member of the Singapore National Global Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) Task Force, a member of the SS586 Standard (GHS) Technical Working Group and also Chair of the SCIC GHS guidebook. She was appointed as Chair of the Technical Working Group on the drafting of New Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) Guidelines for the industry. Mark Thompson Attorney, Keller & Heckman, China Mark Thompson joined Keller and Heckman in 2008 as an Associate with the firm’s Washington, DC office. During that time, Mr. Thompson assisted clients in demonstrating compliance with U.S. and EU regulations pertaining to food, food packaging, drugs, as well as applicable environmental requirements. In October 2009, Mr. Thompson transferred to Keller and Heckman’s office in Shanghai, China, after which he expanded upon his practice to capture regulatory compliance matters in various Asian markets. He has worked extensively within the Korean environment, health and safety regulatory framework for a broad range of environmental and risk assessment studies. Dr Baek has worked for various industrial sectors including chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, manufacturing, semiconductors, power utilities, automotive, pharmaceutical, and telecom. Dr Li has various responsibilities including management of a team of regulatory experts in Asia Pacific, notification of products and chemicals, as well as regulatory compliance in Asia Pacific countries. Previous business experience includes the role of head of Regulatory Affairs for fragrance/cosmetics ingredients in Asia Pacific for Symrise Pte Ltd, a global leading fragrance/ flavor company. Working as a toxicologist in Product Safety & Regulatory Affairs for Procter & Gamble in Kobe, Japan. And working as a business manager for system implementation project for Procter & Gamble in Singapore. Qian Cheng Greenpeace East Asia, China Cheng Qian works on the Toxics Campaign as Assistant Manager at Greenpeace East Asia based in Beijing. She focuses on detoxing the hazardous chemicals and toxic substances in different sectors and in policy developments in China. Prior joining Greenpeace, Qian worked for the International Institute for Sustainable Development as Project Manager, the International Labour Organization of the United Nations as National Programme Officer, specializing in the field of Green Jobs, and GIZ as Technical Adviser on Climate Change. She is a German Chancellor Fellow with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and a Writer to the Earth Negotiations Bulletin. She holds a BA in Law from the Capital University of Economics and Business, and an MPhil in Environmental Policy from the University of Cambridge. Taro Ishikawa JEMAI, Japan Mr Taro Ishikawa is General Manager of Regulatory Compliance Support and Consulting division. Has played a critical role in the development and delivery of JEMAI’s regulatory services to industry. Has many experiences on chemical regulatory management affairs and consultation work for businesses. Takashi Fukushima National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE) Japan Mr. Takashi Fukushima joined MITI, Ministry of International Trade and Industry (current METI, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) in 1985 as a technical official. Since then, he experienced many positions in METI mainly in the chemical and environmental related fields including new chemical evaluation and bioindustry promotion. After 3 and half year term as the director of Energy and Environment Department in JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) Bangkok Office, he worked in Chemical Management Policy Division of METI for seven years during nine years before his present assignment to NITE in May 2013. Leendert, a Dutch National, studied Chemistry and Physics, at the University of Leiden (NL). Started in Singapore in 2014. Before Singapore, he worked as PS & RA manager for Europe in the Netherlands, dealing a significant part of his time with the implementation of the EU REACH program. Before joining Eastman in 2008, Leendert worked for over 20 years for a major US petrochemical company in various locations and various positions. She has international experience developing learning strategies and managing all aspects of training. At ReachCentrum, Rita collaborates with technical providers to develop and deliver training for REACH, CLP, and BPR including risk assessment, Chesar & IUCLID. Hugo Waeterschoot REACH Advisor, Eurometaux, Belgium Hugo Waeterschoot has an educational background in ecotoxicology and environmental law from Ghent University as well as an executive management degree from Vlerick management school. He had more than 15 years of experience in industry on chemicals management aspects before joining Eurometaux, first as EHS director and later as REACH Advisor. He followed and was closely engaged in REACH and CLP from the policy discussions in 2002 until now whereby he presently represent the metals and inorganic sector as an observer in 2 key ECHA-REACH committees: the Member State Committee and the Socio-economic Committees. Both deal with various aspects of the evaluation, restriction and authorisation scheme. Hugo is also active at the OECD-BIAC chemicals group, the industry group overseeing the chemicals management activities of the OECD and is involved in the GHS guidance development for metals and inorganics. Seth Goldberg Partner, Steptoe & Johnson LLP, USA Seth Goldberg is a partner in Steptoe’s Washington office, where he is a member of the Regulatory & Industry Affairs Department. He has practiced environmental and administrative law and litigation at Steptoe since joining the firm in 1978. In the environmental area, his practice encompasses a range of subspecialties, including hazardous waste and toxic chemical regulation, environmental remediation, pesticide regulation, and regulatory litigation. He represents clients before administrative agencies and courts in a broad range of complex matters. A substantial part of his practice involves compliance advice, agency rulemaking and license decisions, and appeals from such decisions. Jean-Philippe De Montfort Partner, Mayer Brown Europe-Brussels LLP, Belgium Jean-Philippe Montfort is one of Europe’s leading legal practitioners on EU chemical control (REACH), EU product safety and liability, and EU regulatory law. His practice focuses especially on: REACH. Jean-Philippe leads Mayer Brown’s REACH team. He provides strategic advice to companies and trade associations to help them comply with REACH and the CLP. He advises companies on data sharing, SIEF and consortia formation and management. He organises product defence under the REACH and CLP Authorisation, Restriction, Evaluation, Classification and Labelling processes. He is also increasingly involved in litigations on product regulatory cases before the European Courts and the ECHA Board of Appeal. Jean-Philippe chairs the chemicals working group of the American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union (Amcham EU) and acted as project leader for the Commission REACH Implementation Project (RIP) 3.4 on Data sharing and Consortia. Paul Ashford Managing Director, Anthesis-Caleb, UK Paul received a BSc (Hons) in chemistry from the University of Bristol (UK) in 1979 before spending 15 years with BP Chemicals in a variety of technical, technology transfer and commercial roles. In 1994, Paul set up his own consultancy firm, Caleb, to pursue his growing interests in the environmental regulatory field. Caleb continues to be an active opinion-former in international policy development based on its strong track record in support of the Montreal Protocol. It has a significant core business in the chemical regulatory field and has been one of the lead consultancies on the implementation of REACH within the European Union. In order to broaden its global base, Caleb reached agreement with sustainability specialist, Anthesis Consulting Group, to combine forces in February 2014. Paul is now responsible for the global development of the Sustainable Chemistry practice for Anthesis-Caleb.
