Welcome to Church Street School for Music & Art’s Toddler Program!
OUR APPROACH

Dalcroze toddler Music & Movement classes are designed to give your child the
opportunity to enjoy and learn about music by becoming involved with the whole body.

We incorporate the use of rhythm instruments, songs, fingerplay, and body movement
such as running, walking, galloping, tiptoe and clapping.

The toddler Visual Arts program at CSSMA is based on the philosophy of process before
product.

Our art classes allow children to explore a wide range of art media presented in a nonrepresentational way. The object of these classes is to provide developmentally
appropriate art experiences, help children build communication and motor skills, and
most importantly, to have children feel good about what they have created.
THINGS TO KNOW

For art classes, smocks are provided although you may bring your own if you wish.
Please remember that sometimes paint and glue will still get on clothing; dress your child
accordingly.

For music classes, please dress your child in comfortable clothing so that movement will
be easy.

We request that you do not bring food or bottles into the classrooms. If your child must
have a drink, please sit in the lobby or hallway.

Please remove shoes before entering the music room (children and adults).

Only collapsible strollers are permitted in the lobby and must be stored on the shelves.
We are not responsible for items left in/on strollers.

We request that you do not carry on phone conversations during your child’s class and
that you be sure to turn off your cell phone.
Thanks for your attention to the important matters above! If you are not the person who will be
bringing your child to class, please share this with his/her caregiver.
Please fill out the enclosed forms, sign and return them to the
Front office by the first day of class.

ENROLLMENT POLICIES
INVOICES/ PAYMENT




ALL OUTSTANDING BALANCES AND PAYMENT PLANS WILL BE CHARGED
AUTOMATICALLY TO THE CREDIT CARD ON FILE ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE NEW
SEMESTER- FEB 8.
If you prefer to pay with another method, the alternative payment must be received before the first
day of the semester, Feb 8.
Families are welcome to sign up for an installment payment plan for a fee of $35.
Your invoice includes your registration details- class name, day and time.
TRIAL CLASSES, DISMISSAL & LATE PICKUP FEES
 Siblings/ friends who wish to join for a single class must arrange permission with the front office
24 hours in advance and are required to pay a single class fee of $38.
 Students must be picked up promptly after their class or lesson ends and must be signed out
from their class by a parent, guardian or authorized caregiver.
 Those who arrive late for pickup will automatically be charged a $15/hr late fee for afterschool
care.
MAKE UP CLASSES
 One make-up class is granted per semester for student absences. Make-up classes must be
arranged with the front desk 24 hours in advance.
IMPORTANT DATES
 Spring semester runs February 8th- June 25th.
 CSSMA follows the NYC Public School calendar. Holidays and closures are listed below.
 In the case of inclement weather CSSMA will follow closure guidelines dictated by the NYC
school board/ Mayor’s Office. No make-up lessons or classes will be given in the case of natural
disasters, extreme or inclement weather.

To ensure the health and safety of our students, we ask that you complete a Medical Info & Release
form for each child that is currently enrolled. Please be aware that we have several children with
severe allergies at the school. Nuts and seeds are highly allergenic. To protect these children, please
note that Church Street School has a NO NUT POLICY. This means that individual snacks, group
snacks, and any other food item brought into the school should not contain nuts or nut oils, or
seeds or seed oils. Packaged foods should be checked to ensure that they were not produced in
a factory that processes nuts.
