Supporting the LA SemeSter - Syracuse University Giving
Supporting The LA Semester
Many Syracuse University alumni already have stepped
forward to help shape and launch The LA Semester.
You can become involved, too, both financially and
through active participation in the program itself.
Be Part of the Program
The LA Semester is being established to connect
students and faculty with industry alumni and friends.
Here are just a few of the ways you can participate:
Share Your Talent
The LA Semester will always be looking for alumni
willing to work with students, as our needs will change
from semester to semester. Share your knowledge
and experience with our LA-based students by:
>> Becoming a guest speaker.
>> Serving as a script advisor.
>> Working with students one-on-one in the classroom.
Share Your Time
Commit your time as a mentor in the workplace—The
LA Semester will match you with the student who will
benefit most from your expertise. You can mentor
students through:
>>
Internships—These are substantive 20-hour-
per-week opportunities during which students will not only observe, but “get their hands dirty.” We’ll work with you throughout the internship process, from selection through supervision and follow-up.
>>
Career assistance—We need to build a wide and dependable network of alumni who can help
LA Semester students get their foot in the door. Assist with job placement or networking—we’ll help match students to employer needs.
Eric D. Frankel ’79, principal of media company Grapevine Entertainment and
former Warner Bros. executive, discusses his company and career with Newhouse
students during the Los Angeles Industry Seminar in January 2009.
