BUILDING BETTER BOARDS
Thursday September 17, 9:45am-10:45am
Château Laurier- Adam Room
The Storyboard is a critical element in the telling of any story in animation. It’s not only the
visualization of the written script, but it establishes the staging, defines the acting, directs
the timing, and pacing and provides the camera lens through which we tell the story in visual
form. But often the storyboard function is provided by a talented artist working in isolation
for weeks at a time, with little contact with the rest of the production team until the board is
delivered.
SPEAKER:
Dave Pemberton, Sr. Storyboard Artist, Splotchco
Katrina Walsh, Executive Producer, Boulevard Productions Inc.
Robin Budd, Director/Storyboard Artist, Nelvana Ltd.
MODERATOR:

14 on Netflix. Margie Cohn, Head of DreamWorks Animation Television, and Kelly Kulchak,
Head of Current Programming, will be sharing how they’ve built a television studio from the
ground up and David Smith, Executive Producer of The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show, will
give a sneak peek of this all-new Netflix original series premiering on October 9.
