INTRODUCTION SECTION I
INTRODUCTION SECTION I INTRODUCTION TO TEAM BLACK CELL Team Black Cell is a locally competitive paintball team from the Central / Northern New Jersey area, drawing players and attending events in the New York / New Jersey / Pennsylvania tristate area. We compete primarily in three-man format competitions, although we plan on adding five-man format to our experience in the near future. The team came into existence roughly six months ago, when members Brian Casani and Jeffrey Bouquio decided to recruit players with the intent of competing in local tournaments. The complete roster can be found in the Team Roster section. For the six months, Black Cell has been practicing and organizing local events in our area. Our members have competed individually in tournaments, and the team is now entering the stage of its growth where it competes in local events. We have competed locally in Fireball Mountain’s (www.fireballmountain.com) three-man tournament series. Also, our team has planned local paintball events, including New Jersey AO Day One, a gathering of twenty to thirty members of Automags.Org, at Top Gun Paintball in Jackson, New Jersey. The day featured a barbecue sponsored by Team Black Cell, and guests attended such as Airgun Designs technician Jon Comprado, Modified Paintball owner Don Florencio, Paintballistix owner Mel Maravilla, and Amy Low. The event involved coordination with Top Gun staff, Airgun Designs, as well as numerous guests and attendees. Black Cell also performed much of Team Black Cell Sponsorship Portfolio 1 INTRODUCTION SECTION I the organization for New Jersey AO Day Two, also called the “AGD Level 10 Bust-Out Party”, a much larger event held at Paintballistix Battlegroundz in Sussex, New Jersey. The field, not yet open to the public, was made available for the event. Over 130 players attended, largely Automags.org members (this number does not include nonplaying guests). The day featured a mini-3-man tournament, a Sydarm shootout contest, a Level 10 Demonstration, raffled-off prizes, and a barbecue sponsored by Team Black Cell. Special guests included Bill and Dawn Mills of Warpig.com, AGD Spokesmodel Clare Benevides, AGD sales representative Jon Comprado, AGD technician J.J. Ontiveros, Automags.org Moderator Philip Carroll. Amy Low, and The team performed "I haven't seen this many mags at a field in a long time" - Bill Mills extensive planning duties, including coordination with Paintballistix Battlegroundz co-owner Mel Maravilla and AGD sales representative Jon Comprado; publicity and pre-registration; field preparation; picking up/housing AGD spokesmodel Clare Benavides; and general staffing duties the day of the event, such as setup of facilities, refereeing duties, and other miscellaneous duties. We are not a top-level NPPL team, we don’t have groupies, and we aren’t famous. What we do have going for us is two things, hard work and loyalty. Even without sponsorship, Team Black Cell works to promote Airgun Designs products on and off the field. When we play, we take time out to show players Scott’s SFL or JT’s C&C Extreme, to demonstrate the capabilities of the Warp Feed, or to give a quick Level 10 demonstration. We make the effort to explain to players and refs alike the direction AGD is heading in with their new products, and what those products are capable of. We also do our best to dispel the rumors that run rampant in paintball, such as cockers having better range than mags, etc. We are also very active on the Automags.Org forums, from organizing AO Days in the main forum, talking about classic cars in the Friendly Corner, or discussing the weight of compressed air in Deep Blue. In fact, Black Cell is one of, if not the most active team on Automags.org when it comes to posting on a regular basis, accounting for very nearly one percent of the total posts made on Automags.org to date (4000 out of 401,000 at the time of this writing). The thing we have to offer that we believe is the most valuable, however, is our ability to push AGD and AO events to new levels, as we have the past and plan to continue to do in the future. A small event we organized with Jon months ago has turned into a nationwide flurry of Automags.Org events. We believe that while this is a great start, it is just that, a start, and there are many more things that can be accomplished through these gatherings. It is our intention to continue what we’ve helped start and see the growth of “AO Team Black Cell Sponsorship Portfolio 1 QUALIFICATIONS? SECTION II Days” to the point where they become large annual (or more often) events with sponsors, large turnouts, prizes, events, and who knows what else the future may bring. We are now in the preliminary stages of organizing the next NJ AO Day, or perhaps the one after that, "SOMEONE SHOULD TELL TOM TO as a 24-hour paintball experience. HELP ORGANIZE AS MANY OF THESE AS POSSIBLE. TALK ABOUT It is our belief that, aside from offering paintball players and Automag users in particular an amazing day filled with fun and paintball, these events are also of a large benefit to AGD. Our team members also have have some personal working experience with Airgun Designs in the past, as well. Team member John Trussel worked at the AGD booth at the 2002 Diablo International Amateur Open, as did team members Brian Casani and Scott Kuebler later in that week. They assisted in setting up and breaking down the booth, doing inventory, and answering questions at the table itself, as well as doing numerous errands. Team member Jeff Bouquio is a graphics designer who has created multiple designs for Airgun Designs products, including the Intelliframe, Superbolt, and the new Parts Kits packages. He hopes to continue that relationship in the future, perhaps designing packages for future AGD products such as the Emag Extreme and whatever the future may hold. Team Black Cell Sponsorship Portfolio 2 THAT PLAYERS SECTION II TEAM ROSTER SCOTT KUEBLER FIELD CAPTAIN / FRONT PLAYER Scott has been playing recreational paintball for about seven years, and in the past three years has entered into tournament ball. He started out playing rec ball occasionally with some of his friends for the first few years, but then had the opportunity to play in a few local tournaments with some friends and was hooked. Scott’s first gun was a Automag Classic, which he owned for almost six years. In the past year, after he joined Black Cell, he decided that he needed to upgrade. He had originally been only looking at WDP Angels when he first thought to upgrade to an electric marker, but after seeing and handling an Emag, he was sure that was the marker he wanted. Soon after, he purchased a Polished Pewter SFL Emag. The reputation of AGD combined with the performance of the Emag made all the difference. Scott would like to see the team progress to the point where it can show off its potential and will VITAL STATISTICS: Name: Position: AO Nickname: Age: Hometown: Occupation: Scott Kuebler Front spacemanspiff 24 North Plainfield, New Jersey United Parcel Service (UPS) Years Experience: ?? He would also like to progress his personal skills as well as his leadership skills as captain on the field. Team Black Cell Sponsorship Portfolio 1 PLAYERS SECTION II JEFFREY BOUQUIO, JR. He immediately loved the sport, but money and time kept his participation in the sport to a minimum until the summer of 2000, when he decided to buy his own gun and play more often. That first gun, a Spyder TL+, led him to look for a better gun within months. By December, he had purchased an AGD Minimag, which he still uses. At this point, he was hooked. Any extra money went into new equipment and paint, and he was at the field once or twice a month. VITAL STATISTICS: After almost 5 years of recball play, Brian, with current teammate Jeff Bouquio, decided to form a team. The goal was to play competitively in the local tournament circuits and to have fun while doing it. Team Black Cell Sponsorship Portfolio 3 PLAYERS SECTION II JOHN “JT” TRUSSELL FRONT – MID PLAYER John has been playing paintball for almost 12 years. His first time was at the now defunct Paintball World in Orlando, FL. What started out as a “lets give this a try” for John quickly grew into a passion. After his first day of paintball he knew that this was the sport for him. Shortly after arriving home from that fateful trip, he had his very own VM-68 paintball marker with a 20oz CO2 remote tank. After 3 years of carrying around that beast, he upgraded to a tournament level marker, an Airgun Designs Minimag powered by an 88/3000 Raptor HPA tank. He played the local woodsball scene for 6 years straight with the Minimag by his side, but with college quickly approaching he had to take a 2-year hiatus. This only drew him back to the sport with an even stronger desire and willingness to learn. Around June of 2000, the VITAL STATISTICS: Name: Position: AO Nickname: Age: Hometown: Occupation: John “JT” Trussell Front / Middle Player SprayingMango 22 Sicklersville, New Jersey United Parcel Service / College Student Years Experience: 12 Equipment: WDP Black Angel IR3 Black Vl200 Revvy 68/4500 WDP Angel AIR Smart Parts Freak System Minimag was dusted off and brought back to life while going out to play with some friends. That’s when John first saw tournament style speedball. From that point on, he was hooked once more. He upgraded to an AGD Emag, and now uses a WPD Angel IR3, and plans on upgrading once more to an AGD Extreme Emag as soon as they AGD MiniMag become widely available. John now he focuses on becoming a better player and terrorizing the local tournament scene with his fellow Team Black Cell teammates. The sky is the limit for Team Black Cell, and John will forever remain a part of it. Team Black Cell Sponsorship Portfolio 4
