Education programme.

English and maths, the
programme caters for
people of all ages and
from all backgrounds.
We offer a range of personal development
and accredited courses at a number of
different centres across the borough. So
whether you need to brush up on your
education, or fancy starting the new
academic year with a new interest,

Community Education in Solihull is
provided and managed by Solihull
College through a network of local
community education centres. Parts
of the programme are delivered in
partnership with Solihull Metropolitan
Borough Council. A wide range of
courses is offered both daytime and in
the evenings.

The Solihull Community Learning
Partnership will work to ensure that the
local community has access to relevant
and broad learning opportunities that will
serve to engage a wide range of learners,
act as a gateway to further learning and
training, engage the disadvantaged and
disengaged through innovative informal
learning opportunities, contribute to the
local economy and promote progression
for all participants.
The activity of the partnership falls into

The College accepts most major credit /
debit cards, or you may also pay by cash or
cheque. Tuition and exam fees are payable
at enrolment. Additional costs may be
incurred for materials, books and
specialist equipment and any additional
exam resit/assessment charges. Where
possible, College staff will tell you about all
fees when you enquire about the
programme.

Concessions are also available on
courses funded through Community
Learning, which includes most
Community Education courses not
listed as ‘accredited’. If you are aged
19+ and in one of the categories listed
below you may not have to pay for these
courses:
• in receipt of an income-based benefit
or equivalent e.g. Income Support,
Working Tax Credit (Household
income threshold applies), Housing
Benefit, Pension Credit (guarantee
credit only), or Council Tax Benefit
(25% single occupancy discount does
not apply)
• in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance
• in receipt of Employment and
Support Allowance in the Work
Related Activity Group
• anyone who is an unwaged
dependent of someone who is in the

basis except for Family Learning
programmes. For Family Learning
programmes, concessions may be
limited to a maximum of 4 courses per
person per academic year, as priority is
given to new learners.
