Galleries opened during the year

Science of Sports Gallery
Science of Sports Gallery is intended to
familiarize the visitors with the applications
of scientific principles in sports – role of
gravity, projectile motion, momentum, force,
energy, impulse etc., Newton’s Law of
motion, materials used in equipment and
understanding and improving performance in
sports.
This
is
an
interactive/hands
on
activity/virtual learning center to understand science and sports through
playful and non-formal approach.
The gallery has been divided into
various sections and gives the
detailed information about the
following sports:
Cricket
Volleyball
Badminton
Lawn tennis
Basketball
Football
Hockey
Rural sports
In addition, interactive exhibits, where visitors test their endurance such
as Rock Climbing, Balancing Beam, Reaction Test etc.
The Gallery was opened to public on June 1, 2011.

Einstein Gallery
This gallery is a tribute to the great scientist Einstein. The
main objective of the gallery is to motivate the visitors and
provide the glimpses to the life of great scientist.
The





Gallery has various sections as follows:
Life History
Major Theories
Interesting facts
Screening of original Video clips.
Einstein Speaks: This is a Star Attraction of the Gallery
where Einstein speaks and explains about the theory of
relativity in his original voice.
The Gallery was opened to the public in May, 2012.

Large Format Film Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk

combines exhilarating riverrafting action on America’s
most iconic river with the firstever images of the Grand
Canyon to tell an important
story of how ordinary people
can make a difference for our
parched planet—one that is
running out of clean, fresh
water.
The film was launched on
February 27, 2012 at the Space Theatre, Science City, Kapurthala.
The film was got
dubbed from English
to spoken Hindi so
general public can
understand the
message of film easily.
The certificate for
public screening was
got issued from Censor
Board for Film Certification.

COMPUTER TRAINING
In order to serve the community, PGSC
has
started
a
Computer
Awareness
Training Programmes at nominal rates
or general public and for students /
reserved category.
118 students were given training during
01 April 2011 to March 31, 2012.

HIV / AIDS Awareness Programme
Science
City
programme
has
initiated
about
collaboration
with
awareness
HIV/AIDS
Punjab
State
in
Aids
Control Society. The grants of Rs. 2500
was
distributed
to
132
colleges
/
institutes.

Night Sky Watching
Watching
Night
sky
through
power
telescopes is a new attraction added to
the Science City. Some special events
like SOLAR ECLIPSE and extreme SUPER
MOON was also shown to the public.
About 1500 visitors have enjoyed the night sky watching. Also
Science City has started night sky watching activity through
powerful telescopes in different 13 schools.
