A Stewardship Thought …
“So out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast
of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them
to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called every living creature,
that was its name.” (Genesis 2:19)
The creation story reminds us of two important
points. First, since the start, God has put the entire
world into our care. Second, stewardship has been
around since the beginning of mankind, it isn’t something recently invented by the Church. Just as past
generations built our Church, it is now our responsibility to continue to nurture and develop these gifts for
future generations.
Pope Francis invites us to pray with him for the
following intentions for the month of October:
+ Universal– That human trafficking, the
modern form of slavery, may be eradicated.
+ Evangelization– That with a missionary
spirit the Christian communities of Asia may
announce the Gospel to those who are still awaiting it.
OUR PARISH FAMILY
Please remember in your prayers the deceased
members of our Parish family and all of the souls
of the faithful departed, in particular William A.
Connors, Sister Mary Theresa Kilcomons, and James
Mills. Remember also the homebound
and infirm members of our Parish family
and those included in our parish book
of petitions.

Adult Choir
Do you love to sing? Have you considered joining the
Adult Choir? You don’t have to be an experienced
singer or know how to read music to join. The Adult
Choir welcomes anyone from high school age through
senior who wants to express their talents through a
very rewarding ministry!
All Catholics are called to full, conscious and active
participation in liturgical celebrations. Our singing is our
prayer. Putting our prayer into music not only helps to
unite us in the prayer we make, it also gives a unique
expression to our prayer that words alone cannot
achieve.
Directed by John Tutela, the Adult Choir rehearses on
Thursday evenings at 7:30
p.m. and sings at the 10:30
a.m. Mass on Sundays.
If you have any questions,
please see John after Mass
or call him at 732-750-3341

The answer when teens ask,
“Why do I have to go to Mass?”
Teens today are surrounded by distractions: music
fills their ear buds, while tweets and posts are constantly checked and updated. They have been conditioned to fill any void or silent moment with noise and
stimulation. So instilling an appreciation and enthusiasm for the Mass can be a challenge.
Altaration: The Mystery of the Mass Revealed is a
new five-part study on the Mass for teens that features
powerful cinematography, inspiring presenters, and
engaging workbook resources.
Altaration uses humor, stories, and small group
discussion to capture your teen’s attention and instill in
them a deep and lasting love for the Mass.
All teenagers are invited to
join us for Altaration
October 1, 8,15, 22 and 29.
We will meet in the Church
Basement at 7:00 PM.
For additional information or to register , call Jamie at
(732)- 257-0077 or email [email protected] .

News from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul
"The poor are the treasures of the Church and
we must care for them." - Pope Francis
Our first general meeting for the 2015-2016 year will
be this Monday, 9/28. We’re kicking things off by attending mass at 7:00 PM to honor the feast day of St.
Vincent de Paul which is the day before on the 27th.
Immediately after mass we’ll proceed to the meeting in
MDH. Why not join us? As St. Vincent de Paul once
said; You’ll find the poor do more for you than you’ll
ever do for them.” Coming to the meeting is a great
way to get to know everyone, get involved, and become a member. If you’re non-active member, we’d
love to have you back and involved again.
Please donate to our food pantry. Presently we are in
need of: soups, vegetables (especially corn and green
beans), canned or packaged fruit, canned pastas such
as Chef Boyardee, and cereals.
Our Lord said; “As you have done for the least of my
brethren, you have done unto me.” This is the basis for
all we do at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. We invite you to share in our mission. If you or someone you
know is in need of assistance please contact us
through the parish office 732 257-0077. In the past
we’ve helped people with rent, utility, groceries, medicines, special dietary requirements and many other
needs. No work of charity is foreign to our society.
Each new client case is confidentially evaluated by
members of our Client Service Team.
Life Chain 2014

Do you know someone who is interested
in becoming Catholic or an adult
who has not yet received the
Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation?
God works in many different ways, most of the time
through ordinary people and events. No matter what
a person’s reasons are for becoming Catholic, the
Church’s hope and prayer is that whenever God calls
them, they will respond.
Becoming Catholic is a process and the Catholic
Church has a process called RCIA (Rite of Christian
Initiation) that the earliest Christians used when people came to them requesting Baptism. RCIA at OLV
meets at 12 Noon Mass and directly afterwards each
Sunday beginning in September.
If you know someone who was never baptized and
may be interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith, or someone who was baptized but never
received Holy Communion and Confirmation and
would like to come into full communion with the Catholic Church, please invite them to join us.
Please fill out the below form and put in the collection
basket or drop off at the Parish Office. An RCIA
Team Member will be in touch to provide further
details.
