adventure guides
(formerly known as Y Indian Guides and Princesses)
As the parent of a young child, you have the
tremendous opportunity to get to know your
child. Spending quality one-on-one time with
your child will help build a strong bond of
trust and memories that will last a lifetime.
Our Adventure Guides program is built upon
the Y Core values of caring, honesty, respect
and responsibility.
The main goal of this program is to enhance family time, offer
programming to develop volunteer and leadership skills
at a young age, build a sense of self-esteem and worth and to provide a spirit of community among other families. Fathers and sons,
fathers and daughters, mothers and sons, or mothers and daughters will join a “circle” of other families, meet once monthly and
participate in monthly events such as family camp outs, pinewood
derbies, and more!

In order to foster a life-long love for the water, it is vital for
babies and toddlers to feel that they have choices and that
they will be allowed to learn at their own pace. Practicing
patience and building trust are the keys to babies swimming
success. Experience tells us that babies can and do swim
when they are ready.
SHRIMP The special bond that already exists between you
and your swimmer along with singing songs and playing
games gently expands your swimmers comfort level.

WE’RE MORE THAN YOU KNOW
WE’RE A CAUSE
Many of our neighbors face challenges that create an
ongoing need for the work the Y does. No other
organization impacts as many people as we do every day.
The Santa Barbara Family YMCA’s board of managers,
committee members, and staff would like to ask you to
join us in making a financial contribution to this year’s
annual campaign.
Together, we can do so much more.
