General Information and Reminders
✓✓ School Hours – The regular school day begins at 8:05 am and ends at 2:58 pm and consist of seven periods.
✓✓ School Arrival/Departure - Students are not allowed to be on school grounds before 7:30 am. Please do not
drop off your student any earlier than the designated time. Students may stay after school only under the
supervision of a teacher or administrator. Those students who are being transported by a parent/guardian
must be picked-up by 3:00 pm.
✓✓ Attendance Procedures – If your student is ill or going to be absent from school for any reason, please call
the attendance office at (314) 213-8333 or email HTS [email protected] before 8:35 am.
✓✓ Bus Routes – When picking up your student’s schedule in August, please also pick up the bus route for your area.
✓✓ Breakfast/Lunch Program – Breakfast will be available from 7:50 am – 8:00 am and is free to all students. The price of a Type A lunch is $2.50. Students should deposit money on a regular basis before school, so the money is available on the same day as the deposit. A form for free/reduced lunch will be available in August
at schedule pick-up.
✓✓ Student Fines – If your student owes any type of fine, please pay at schedule pick-up in August.
REMINDER: Students who have not paid their fines will not be allowed to attend incentive activities.
✓✓ Textbooks – Textbooks will be issued during the first week of school. Students are responsible for their books, so they should put their name and teacher’s name in the front of each book!
✓✓ Student laptops – Every 6th, 7th, and 8th grade student will be issued a MacBook Air laptop with all
software necessary to support academic needs. Students are responsible for proper use and care of the Macbook and are expected to bring them back to school fully charged every day. Pattonville requires an annual fee of $40 with a max annual fee of $100 per family. ($20 for students on free/
reduced lunch program, with a max fee of $50 per family.) Once students have completed the laptop procedures, they may take the laptop home. ✓✓ Hall Lockers – All students will have an assigned locker. Students are responsible for providing their own
lock for the locker. Locks should be brought to school on the first day of school. Do not buy the lock with
the small shank, as they do not secure our lockers. Likewise, the Master Lock speed dial (up/down/ left/ center) locks are too big. DO NOT GIVE THE LOCK COMBINATION TO ANY OTHER STUDENT!
✓✓ P. E. Lockers – Each student is assigned a locker and lock by the physical education instructor. A $4.00 fine will be charged at the end of the school year for EACH lost lock. Students may bring in their own lock for their P.E. locker.

be allowed to start school. Please call the school nurse, if you should have any questions at (314) 213-8300.
✓✓ PTO/Open House – Parents are needed in helping maintain the high quality educational programs here at
Heights. Please become an involved parent in the Parent –Teacher Organization. There will be
membership registration tables available in August at schedule pick-up and at Open House on Thursday,
August 18, 2016.
✓✓ Sports Physical - If your student plans to participate in a sport, he/she will need a physical. Go to the

Parents of students violating this policy will be contacted and depending on the seriousness and/or prior history, other consequences (including suspension) may be assigned.
The following items should be kept in the student’s locker during the school day. Failure to do so will result in the item being confiscated.

Attendance
Attendance Hotline
(314) 213-8333
Regular attendance is an integral factor in school
success. PARENTS OR GUARDIANS MUST CALL
SCHOOL WHENEVER A STUDENT IS GOING TO
BE ABSENT. Please call the above attendance hotline
number above and leave a message. The attendance line is
active 24 hours a day. Please leave a message concerning
an absence. If absences are not reported by 10:00 am,
you will receive an automated message concerning your
student’s absence. Inconsistent attendance or absences
that constitute a pattern of behavior are concerns to
school staff. While it is recognized that some absence
from school may be necessary, excessive absenteeism
will affect student achievement, performance,
advancement, and self-esteem. Typically any absences
above ten percent of the semester (9-10 days) would
be considered excessive. Excessive absenteeism may
result in the requirement of third party documentation
to determine an absence as excused. The Director of
Special Services will also be contacted and advised
when absenteeism has reached this excessive point.
Please refer to the Behavior Guide for more details.
Student IDs
Each student must have his/her ID
badge on his/her person at all times
at Heights. In addition to supporting
a safe school environment, the
photograph identification badges
will be used to purchase lunches in
the cafeteria and check out books/
materials in the library. Failure to have
the photograph identification badge in
the student’s possession may result in
disciplinary consequences. Please
refer to the Behavior Guide for more
details.
Every time a student needs a new ID
the replacement cost will be $2.00.
Replacement lanyards may be
purchased for $1.00 each.
Tardy Policy
If your student is tardy to school (arrival after 8:05 am), he/she must report to the attendance office upon arrival at
school. If the tardy is “unexcused”, the following consequences will apply:
Up to 3 tardies - Warning
4th/5th Tardy – 1 hour detention for each occurrence
6th/7th Tardy – 2 hour after school detention for each occurrence
8th/9th Tardy - 4 hour Saturday detention for each occurrence
10th or more Tardies – In-School-Suspension
If your student is tardy to any class throughout the school day, the above consequences will also apply.
